Please go in and demand she finish braiding the rest of the hair back for free or give you atleast half of your money back and please be prepared. Alot of these women in the salon are ghetto and will make a scene over it believe me.

I got a sew in weave a few years ago and the hair was braided so tight that I was in tears . My scalp was bleeding and sore and when I asked the woman to loosen it she definetly had an attitude . I could have took pictures and sued her but I did not know any better at the time.

Wow. ITA with the other ladies. GO back. I'm natural and I know it is hard for some folks to braid natural hair, but I don't think you should have pressed it completely straight. You hair is going to revert. At the most I lightly blowdry. I wouldn't even let her touch my hair again. Just gimme my money!

she advised me to press my hair when i'd gone in the previous day with my curly fro to ask questions.. so it was relatively straight while she was braiding it. my guess is that it looked fine while she was doing it, but once she put the mousse on it :nono: it was another story.

i did look in the salon mirror, but a) i have bad vision b) after seven hours, i really just wanted to get out of that salon! and c) i guess my hair just hadn't reverted yet?

nah... it couldn't have reverted yet, because, poor vision aside, a blind man could've seen that poofy mess...

on top of that, i took some pics when i got home and it didn't look like that. it wasn't until hours later that i saw myself looking like "who did it and what for?" as my sis would say..

I understand now, having poor vision myself. The braider should have known better still. On the bright side from your pics your twa is pretty big. Go back, make a fuss and get it done right. There's no way she should have charged you $200 in the first place. She hustled you. I know some ladies in Harlem that would do it for a fraction of that price.

i spent seven hours in the salon today getting micros. i know that's hair offense #1, but whatev. i really should've gotten the kinky twists, but let's not go into that. :ohwell:

i'm natural. i have a twa. i remembered the last time i had zillions (i was relaxed) the lady told me she would "finish my hair," meaning braid all of my hair completely for like $20 extra. i ran this buy my sister today and she told me that i probably wouldn't have anything to worry about since my hair is short.

so, i didn't worry about it. :look:

i pressed my hair to avoid the trauma of the braider ripping through the naps and headed out.

after enduring seven agonizing hours of torture, the braider slapped me with a head full of mousse, put my hair in a ponytail, robbed me for my cash, and sent me on my way. i'm sure she laughed as i walked out of the door. "haha - sucker!!"

fast forward. i'm at home. i take a closer look at myself in the mirror. OMG i look a HAM! a HAM sandwich!! not just a ham sandwich, but thinly sliced deli select with extra cheese on that :censored:!!

needless to say, she didn't braid all of my hair. so there's a couple inches of braid, then a puffy mess mixed in with straight hair. omggggg :wallbash:

now, i don't know what to do!

1) go back up to the salon and have her braid my hair down a few more inches? i really don't wanna go back. the whole time i was in the chair, i just kept saying, "never again...NEVER again.." it just took too long.

2) break out the flat iron and the sabino, dodge the rain and hope for the best?

3) take it all down and charge it to the game. lesson learned.

i'd post pics, but i don't wanna be laughed off of lhcf. i'm running out of forums to take refuge on. at this point, i'm leaning towards option 3. :nono: any other suggestions?

post pics..we wont laugh..i promise X

Did she know you was natural..she probably didnt know that your hair would frizz up like that...Did you ask her to braid all the way down and she didnt?
I know I would be mad if I had to take it down after all that time and money wasted..

it probably wont take that long tojust braid the ends further down..thats if she will do it..you know how some folks are..

as far as the price, there are a bunch of places around that charge like 150, but she provided the hair so i figured that was a good deal or at least pretty much the same..

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hate when braiders try to cheat and don't braid all the way pass a client's hair.

I know how you feel for not wanting her to touch your head again. I would feel the same way. I would demand my money back. If that request is met with resistance, I would request someone else to complete the job.

Good luck in the morning and take a witness with you just in case.

Naw chick would have to give my money back. It doesn't matter if you hair is pressed or not. It would not look exactly like the micro hair so she saw the difference and where your hair stopped.

I also suggest and around the way girl for the next time or to fix it.

Girl go back and I mean first thing in the morning and make her finish braiding you. I am natural and wash my hair once a week and my braids never looked that poofy. Even when my hair was shorter than yours it never looked like that so there is no excuse. I only had that happen once and that's because she didn't braid down far enough, but that was because she was being lazy (I was BSL at the time).

When you spending your hard earned money you have the right to tell them if you are unhappy.

I would load up some of my girlfriends in the car after midnight, wear dark colored sweats and a ski mask and throw a brick through the window of the salon :hammer:....hahaha

Nah, but um...that is awful that someone who claims to be a "professional" did that to you. I'm sorry. :nono:

LMAO...why was thinking the same thing...rollin' 4 deep!!!

JL - Seriously, you need to go back as 200.00 is nothing to sneeze at. And if they are plexin' get names, numbers, etc and report the whole shop to the licensing board...I am a firm believer in "going corporate" .....I have never seen braids done like that before...I guess they were figuring that you were stupid and would not notice....

Hi - and a big hug . . . .

I cannot tell you what to do as you have got to be prepared to expend the energy it takes to rectify this situation. Had a run in with a braid shop 5 years ago that took heaven and earth to get my money back - in the end I was spent, upset and still mad - with my money in my hand - sometimes money is not everything - what I had to do to get it was lowering my personal standards.

Whatever route you choose - please understand that it is your decision. Having tangled with a braid shop I know that some of these shops don't play by the same rules as other establishments - I literally had to call the owner who lived in Africa and this was after I called the police twice on them - my situation was different - the shop had clearly charged my debit card $250 twice and refused to refund the money back. My account bounced everything and the bad part about it was is that I was in the process of moving to Chicago from Ohio!!!! It took having one of my big male friends go in and threaten the daylights out of them - not pretty:-(! Legally they had to give me back my money (two charges - only one service) but this shop would not oblige - I shudder to think what they would have done over a bad braid job . . . good luck and I wish you the best.

Your hair is not long enough for her to to have braided it all the way down. I stopped getting micros specifically for that reason..they didn't want to braid all the way down and it was ruining my ends. My hair was SL though.

You should call and ask to speak to her. See if she tries to charge more - that way you can collect yourself w/o going off in the shop. Her work was not well done. She should fix it.

She half did your hair. I don't understand the 20.00 bucks extra crap. If you paid in full for the micros that should have covered the total service. You should go back and tell her you want her to finish your hair and your not paying a dang cent extra. After she fix her shady job don't go back to her lazy self.

You gotta go back. It looks like she knotted your hair and that's going to break your hair off. Even if your hair was pressed she could see where to stop. Most of the time they try to be slick and just braid halfway.

I don't understand how she didn't braid all the way and took 7 hours. And $200 is a lot including hair. In Harlem you wouldn't pay more than $120. For $200 it should be past your hair. You're clearly not satisfied. They have to fix it. It's not ok and you can't straighten it all the time, for all that you might as well have your hair out.

To OP sorry this happened to you.

Do you live in NYC?

I know awesome braider. I have thick natural hair.

I never straighten my hair when I get human hair braids.

i was wondering why she asked you to press it a little? your hair cant be that hard to handle. and isnt she a professional? when i got braid done a longg time ago, i did not have to press hair.:ohwell: i dont get it.

Girl seriously I would have whupped her a. Go back and tell her to redo them or something. Stop blaming yourself. I never understood why people don't braid past your ends with micros. I have always braided mine past mi ends. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go back. Call and talk to the manager or something. That is sooo not cool.

AND YOU BET NOT COME BACK HOME UNTILL YOU WOOP HER A$$, IF YOU DONT WOOP HER A$$, WE GONNA WOOP YOURS!!

just playing lol, but yall remember when ya mom said that too you when another girl hit you? lol i do.

i feel like i can't be too mad at her since my hair was lightly pressed while she was braiding it, so it didn't look like that. it didn't get revert until she put the mousse on it. i don't know if she saw it looking like that or not. maybe she did, and that's why she slapped it in a pony tail so quickly. lol

even i didn't even notice until hours later. at the salon, i looked in the mirror but as i said it was in a ponytail.. i let it done when i got home (i live like 45 seconds away...seriously) and took some pics. i didn't notice anything in the pics at that time, but i just went back and looked at them and ... yeah .. it wasn't pretty ..

eta: actually, i can't blame her at all .. it's not her fault, it's MY fault. i should've clearly communicated my expectations to her.

i never thought i'd be here sharing a salon horror story. lol i was even proud of myself for telling her not to braid braid my edges tightly instead of just sitting there dealing with it like i did in the past at other shops.

I feel like you are giving this woman too much credit. So what if your hair was pressed before you got it done that is no excuse for her not braiding all the way down. I'm relaxed and back when I used to get braids the person doing my hair would always braid all the way down past my hair....she was braiding it and being a "professional" I know she could see where you hair ended and where the fake hair continued. You seriously should go down there and demand something...but I understand how you feel though.:bighug: But still you really need to be assertive on this one $200 is alot of money...shoot thats a car note for some people!

i agree with the previous poster. you are making waaaaaaaaaay too many excuses for this woman. SHE is the professional. the way i see it is you can either

1- go back. the worse thing she can say is no.
2- take down your hair, but if you do that, you might as well withdraw $200 from the bank, put it in the kitchen sink, and set it on fire. because that's basically what you're doing by not pursuing her to complete your hair and/or get a refund.

yes it's a lesson learned, but finish the lesson-- not letting anyone take advantage of you and learning how to speak up for yourself. it's a consumer's world. she wouldnt be in business without YOU. not the other way around. never forget that.

d@mn. id say option 1, that B betta give you what you went in there for. well thats just me, i dont take S from no body!!!

She would only have two options with me:
A) Give me back my $$$ that I worked so hard for or
B) Do what I paid her for in the 1st place

I don't take lightly to folks trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Especially, when my hard-earned money is part of the equation.

Whatever you decide, you should do it soon. The longer you take to go back the harder a time she is going to give you.

Sorry this happened. $200 bucks is a lot of money --- like all the others said - an around the way chick could have done much better and charged half that price.

Once I went home and saw that sugar honey ice tea - I would have went straight back to the salon and if it was closed - I would have been the first face she saw when it opened the next morning.

Whatever you do don't continue to wear your hair like that.

Based on your pictures your ends and about 2-3 inches of your length is exposed and having it rub up against the synthetic hair will cause you more harm and some serious damage.

You don't want to sacrifice your hair to prove a point. The two textures will definitely rub together and that would not be beneficial for your hair.

DEFINITELY go back, and try not to cuss until she's done fixing her mess.

Then feel free to let her HAVE IT ;)

First off HEY GIRLIE!!!!

Second of all, your pics are not a laughing matter. I know how you feel. Stylist like to charge so much money for crap! I've spent a small fortune on stylist that claim to know how to do sew ins and for me having to get them redone over by someone else.

One chick messed up my hair (my sew in literally fell down three days in) and refused to answer the phone for me so she could redo it!

JaneLane - I am laughing but not at you. Your post, though I can feel your misery, are hilarious! Whew!

I've only read to page two and I agree with the lady who said go straight back to the salon! That is, if you haven't already done so (I'm going to finish reading the rest of this thread)

$200.00 debited and 7 hours later is too brutal to walk away less than pleased with your hair do. No, Sir!

ETA - Ok, I see where you wrote that you are going back. Good! Make sure she does right by you.

Ut-oh, hmmm, just went back, re-read, and ...

Perhaps, you can go back, pay the $20.00 to have her "finish your hair"???

Alright now OP.... I hope you got your hair fixed today... .

You know we're gonna come back in this thread wanting to see results (a completed head)

Keep us posted!

oh-em-gee.. the thought of going back and sitting in there for another four hours or so just kills me! but .. there's no way i can walk around looking like this, so i guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

i just took some pics ... please hold your laughter until you leave the thread.

thanks for your suggestions, though - i'm going back first thing in the morning!

Nah ahh they need to fix that or give you some money back! When you're dealing with natural hair, they should always braid atleast two inches past your natural hair and then tie a little knot to secure the braid. That stylist was just lazy.
