I Just Paid $200 to Look a HAM

i spent seven hours in the salon today getting micros. i know that's hair offense #1, but whatev. i really should've gotten the kinky twists, but let's not go into that. :ohwell:

i'm natural. i have a twa. i remembered the last time i had zillions (i was relaxed) the lady told me she would "finish my hair," meaning braid all of my hair completely for like $20 extra. i ran this buy my sister today and she told me that i probably wouldn't have anything to worry about since my hair is short.

so, i didn't worry about it. :look:

i pressed my hair to avoid the trauma of the braider ripping through the naps and headed out.

after enduring seven agonizing hours of torture, the braider slapped me with a head full of mousse, put my hair in a ponytail, robbed me for my cash, and sent me on my way. i'm sure she laughed as i walked out of the door. "haha - sucker!!"

fast forward. i'm at home. i take a closer look at myself in the mirror. OMG i look a HAM! a HAM sandwich!! not just a ham sandwich, but thinly sliced deli select with extra cheese on that :censored:!!

needless to say, she didn't braid all of my hair. so there's a couple inches of braid, then a puffy mess mixed in with straight hair. omggggg :wallbash:

now, i don't know what to do!

1) go back up to the salon and have her braid my hair down a few more inches? i really don't wanna go back. the whole time i was in the chair, i just kept saying, "never again...NEVER again.." it just took too long.

2) break out the flat iron and the sabino, dodge the rain and hope for the best?

3) take it all down and charge it to the game. lesson learned.

i'd post pics, but i don't wanna be laughed off of lhcf. i'm running out of forums to take refuge on. at this point, i'm leaning towards option 3. :nono: any other suggestions?

d@mn. id say option 1, that B betta give you what you went in there for. well thats just me, i dont take S from no body!!!

lol, girl go ahead and post pics. no one's gonna laugh at you. promise..

and i suggest never paying that much money for micros. srsly. find a poor college student or one of those girls from around the way to do it for cheap.

and as for you hair, can't you just braid it the rest of the way yourself? or ask a relative or friend, the hardest part is already done.

i would also suggest that from now on you're specific as to what you want done to your head and also after they've done a few braids to check and to see if you like what they're doing.

I'm gonna have to go with her on this one, kind of.
I'm not gonna tell you to sit back in that chair and have all the braids redone. Even with her just going back to rebraid the ends, that would take too long.
I would however, tell you go back there, SHOW her what foolishness she did, and then demand every dime of your money back.
And then you can take them down and count it as a lesson learned.

I would go back because if I paid $200 for my hair you better believe I'm gonna get what I want. That was such a shady move. She could have at least asked if you wanted your ends done especially since they were so visible. And why didn't you look in the salon mirror?

Nahhh son. She couldn't braid past your hair?! You paid $200! I'm not a fussy person but I'd go back. Lol.

For the money you dished out I would go with option one.

But yr first mistake was paying her w/out checking it prior to paying.

When you go back either you tell her to finish the job you pd her for or give you back at least half yr money.

I would not argue with her. And if she wants to give you a hard time about it ask to speak with the owner of the shop. And if the owner decides to go along with the braider all you do is tell her does she realize how much you can ruin her business by word of mouth.

I bet she will be more than happy to give you what you went there for in the first place.:yep:

she advised me to press my hair when i'd gone in the previous day with my curly fro to ask questions.. so it was relatively straight while she was braiding it. my guess is that it looked fine while she was doing it, but once she put the mousse on it :nono: it was another story.

i did look in the salon mirror, but a) i have bad vision b) after seven hours, i really just wanted to get out of that salon! and c) i guess my hair just hadn't reverted yet?

nah... it couldn't have reverted yet, because, poor vision aside, a blind man could've seen that poofy mess...

on top of that, i took some pics when i got home and it didn't look like that. it wasn't until hours later that i saw myself looking like "who did it and what for?" as my sis would say..

oh hells no!!! GO BACK

girl nobody gonna laugh, this just makes me mad!! please go back asap!!

OMG... I'm sorry that this happened to you.....

first off... the person that braided your hair shouldn't have sent you outside looking like that. That is her work and respresents what she does. Most braiders know that they have to braid past your hair.. it only makes sense because your dealing with different textures of hair and need for it to blend in.....I really pissed at her..

Now back to you... I don't care how tired you are.. you always...always take a good look at your wig before you leave any salon after any style. Because she would have had to finish my ish today! If I sat there for 7 hours to get them put in, then it's not gonna hurt to sit a lil while longer for her to finish.

1. That's $200.00 you dropped to get your hair done.
2. She did a poor job in completing you style
3. Your upset cause you walking around looking a hamm...

Take you arse back up there and have them to finish yo head.. what's their number... Imma call them...makes no sense.:nono::nono:

Your pics are nothing to laugh at. I would DEMAND a redo or my money back!!!!

She jacked your hair and wallet!!

Girl, no way did I laugh. I am in shock! Literally that's a d@.. shame! Period!

i feel like i can't be too mad at her since my hair was lightly pressed while she was braiding it, so it didn't look like that. it didn't get revert until she put the mousse on it. i don't know if she saw it looking like that or not. maybe she did, and that's why she slapped it in a pony tail so quickly. lol

even i didn't even notice until hours later. at the salon, i looked in the mirror but as i said it was in a ponytail.. i let it done when i got home (i live like 45 seconds away...seriously) and took some pics. i didn't notice anything in the pics at that time, but i just went back and looked at them and ... yeah .. it wasn't pretty ..

eta: actually, i can't blame her at all .. it's not her fault, it's MY fault. i should've clearly communicated my expectations to her.

i never thought i'd be here sharing a salon horror story. lol i was even proud of myself for telling her not to braid braid my edges tightly instead of just sitting there dealing with it like i did in the past at other shops.

Hmm. $200 is far too much. I don't understand how she can charge you $200 and not braid all the way to the end.

However, she told you it was an EXTRA $20 UPFRONT. You probably would have been able to haggle braiding all the way to the ends for the $200 you paid. Perhaps you did not understand it would not blend.

I think it is best to have it braided past your hair regardless of whether you are natural or straight.

Call that lady or better yet, show up in person, and let her know you do not like it. Start off nice and see what she does. If she gets crazy with you, then you need to get crazy with her.

Never go back to her again. The braids in the picture look nice and uniform, but she needs to think about how she is running her business. She probably needs to add an extra $20 in her prices - assuming everyone wants it braided to the ends. I don't know anyone who would be cool with their hair looking like that. :nono:

1. Either find a college student, a kitchen beautician, somebody less expensive.
2. Buy you a hair mannequin, some braiding dvds or search youtube and get to practicing.
You could do one or two of those and still have money left over to go to aj wright/ross/tjmax/outlet mall and get an outfit.

I'm not going to say she did a bad job. Just that with the amount she charged, you should not be having to go back and deal with her at all and without any aggravation. You should be posing in the mirror and taking pics of your fabulous braids and tossing hair back and forth.

This situation got People's Court written ALL over it. If that's the best she could do, then it should have been free.

^^^This. I probably wouldn't get in her chair again--she's already shown her propensity for jacking folks up. I'd try to get my money back--and, for the next time, triple check to make sure I got what I wanted before I paid and left the salon.

yeah, she can either fix it or i'm going to walk around all over town with my hair looking exactly like this telling everyone i got it done in her salon ... lol

I would load up some of my girlfriends in the car after midnight, wear dark colored sweats and a ski mask and throw a brick through the window of the salon :hammer:....hahaha

Nah, but um...that is awful that someone who claims to be a "professional" did that to you. I'm sorry. :nono:

Oh no ma'am...you really should :roadrunner: down there.
Is the store open now?
Smh, how could she do that?!
And even if your hair was pressed, that's ZERO excuse. A professional braider should know the difference between the client's hair and the braid hair, even if she used human hair. This is some unacceptable ish, because you even paid extra for her to braid to the ends. No no no ma'am.
