That make my hair shiny/glossy for 5 minutes then look dull and flat later. I am about to tell u guys something but don't scream! I get so annoyed with serums and other products that claim to protect ur hair from heat that I BLOW DRY & FLAT IRON my hair with no protectant. I just don't believe them to be effective.
I just don't know what to use or how to use it :wallbash:. Do I add this stuff to my hair while its wet right b4 I blow dry then re-apply right before its time to flat iron?

I can't even remember what products I have used over time. I gave up. My hair is very fine so anything I put in there will potentially weigh it down. I have literally had to re-wash my hair b/c of too much product. I like my hair to be light and bouncy.

What do u guys suggest? I need something tonight b/c I plan on washing my hair. Price doesn't matter b/c I am a certified PJ :spinning:

Only product line I prob have not used is Mizani. Are they any good?

Someone please give me step by step instructions for healthy blow dry and flat iron techniques to ensure bouncy shiny weightless healthy hair w/ minimal to no breakage in the process... (YES I want it all LOL)

:spank: no protectant how could you!

Honestly now I use the Argan or Moroccan Oil they both work great, and a little does it! I also use Aphogee Keratin Green tea which is a protectant for heat as well and my hair feels not only soft it is silky with a shine that stays! I also put a little more oil on after. I too am part of the PJ club!

I turn the bottle upside down what ever sticks is what I use in my hair!

FOR a banging Serum - Herstyler Serum is soooooo good, I am hooked, it is a little pricey I get it from the Kiosk at the mall it is very good stuff, magic in a bottle!

the same thing happens with me when i use serums, dull looking hair. i use the normal serums then after i finished flat ironing i use either inecto glossing spray or apricot butter
Inecto glossing spray does the trick
i use some after i flat iron and my hair is SOOOOO glossy and shiny and i bought it on a impluse buy. best impluse buy EVER
idk if they sell it in america though

also apricot butter
just a tiny bit and i rub it on my straightened hair and my ends are soft and my hair is shiny.

also babassu oil is really good for shine.

I think i've said this already but i use either or the mentioned products AFTER i straighten my hair

Nioxin Bliss sounds right up your alley and is meant for fine hair...AND will add some element of heat protection without weighing your hair down

aphogee green tea spray is great for a natural long lasting shine when flat ironing or using heat .. I dont think it's a heat protectant tho... just heat activated

I usually put aphogee spray, redken antisnap and ntm serum let it airdry then add nexxus heat protexx right before flat iron

then I put a drop or of ntm serum pin curl it put a scarf for the night.. still shiny bouncy hair the next morning!

LOL I knew that was coming! Thx JJamiah...so the Argan & Moroccan oils are what u use on your hair both wet & dry? Where can I find either of those oils? I am going to the BSS tonight to see if I can find this Aphogee Keratin Green Tea.

I have fine hair as well. To get bouncy blow dry/ flat irons I use the following

Chi Straight guard
Nexuss heat protectant
Chi Silk infusion

Thats it anything else weighs my hair down. so I wash and do a SUPER DC and whatever condish I use I add a little coconut oil....rinse really well and I add a small amount of chi straight gaurd and I let my hair air dry in plaits.

I spritz the dry strand with Nexuss then blowdry quickly on warm not hot, if you see steam its too hot! I do this so that Im not flat ironing damp strands from the heat protectant.

then I flat iron using the comb chase method. Make sure the flat iron isnt too hot! some ladies use more heat than needed.

Also by air drying and flat ironing on lower temps I do not get that "burnt hair/salon" smell... I think thats gross

Thx Carib, I thought it was just me! My parents will be in Europe this weekend, maybe I can ask them to pick up some Inecto oil for me (4oz of course) My mom will understand my request, she helped to create my inner PJ.

Don't waste your money getting Moroccan oil it is GREAT but you can get the knock off Argan Oil at Sally's for a fraction of the cost.

Silk Elements has a heat protectant it is good but I don't use it all the time most likely out of laziness for going upstairs and getting it when the others are in arms reach! the Argan oil and Aphogee Green tea does the trick for me (shhh spray two spritzes on for protection sake) LOL

Thx Kitten45...That's 2 votes for Aphogee... I'll def try it...what is NTM serum?

I also love Argan Oil. (Thanks T!) A little goes a long way to non greasy, silky, blingin' hair!

I appreciate your responses ladies. I could have sworn I tried everything and u ladies have named about 5 products I haven't even heard of. Silly me. Either way i will grab a few products today and report back tomorrow about how my hair turned out. I have some new Joico products waiting on me at home. (Poo & Con) I am nervous and excited! LOL <---Crazy

You may just be using too much. Adjust your amounts. I have fine hair that gets weighed down easily.

I really like the Mizani Thermasmooth System (Minus the 4th step) for a healthy shine and bounce.

Thx DeriRae and ur hair sure looks smooth & shiny in ur pic!

Just popping in show some love for the pure Argan oil.:woot:

I not too much into direct heat but I do love long, bouncy, silky, shiny, hair so as a fine haired 3 c/b I texlax and roller set most of the time.

Stopped using serum for over a year now and not big on direct heat either.

Argan oil is great but if I need to moisturize dry hair I use a little Afrodetangler with a drop or two of water .

I get great shine.

Remeber sometimes when hair looks dull it needs to be clarified.:yep:

Giovanni Frizz Be Gone serum makes my hair shiny and it doesn't go dull. A little goes a long way (of course this is true about serums anyway).

My hair tends to be dull if I BLOW DRY with a serum. So instead I'll use a different blow drying product (there are various creams and gels for this--I used Organix Vanilla Silk), and only apply the serum to dry hair before flat ironing. For me personally, my hair is shinier if I use more heat w/the serum.

Have you considered a clear rinse? My hair is actually shiny just from blowdrying now :drunk: Not to be a pusher or broken record, but Kim Vo Brilliant Luster Glaze has changed my life

I love Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum applied to wet hair just before I blow dry. Then I apply a small amount of Giovanni Frizz Be Gone or Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops to flat iron.

I have Mizani Thermasmooth but haven't tried it yet. Redken Heat Glide was average and tended to weigh my hair down. I recently bought the very small Chi Silk Infusion and plan to try that.

As you can see, this is an issue for me too, so I am trying to find that perfect serum that will protect, give me bling and not leave me looking like Jerry Curl girl! :)

I agree with the Chi Silk Infusion and the Morrocan Oil. Both products give great results on wet and dry hair.

If you're going to blowdry and then flat iron, then I'd recommend Aphogee Green Tea Reconstructor :)

Before, I never blowdried and then flat ironed because I thought it was too much for my hair. I try not to use heat. Then, I read on here (and on the Aphogee bottle) that it was best used with heat, so I tried the reconstructor and went all out with heat that day. I made sure to pre-poo, shampoo, DC, use Roux PC, used NTM leave-in, a very small dab of John Frieda serum on my hair, and then sprayed my damp hair liberally with Aphogee. I blowdried section-by-section with a round brush. My hair loved me :P

I lowered my FHI to about 275-320 (I usually use 360-375) and flat ironed. My hair loved me

The most swang and shine ever. Plus the reconstructor smells good, so my hair was yum.

serums tend to go dull on me too, and i don't like reapplying that heavy stuff everyday. a product that gives me long lasting shine is Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream. its so moisturizing and doesn't weigh down my hair, and the shine actually lasts longer than 5 minutes. ♥

I can relate to this. My strands are very thin and I have to be very careful with products in order to retain bounce and swing. The liquid serums tend to be very heavy so you may be better off with the spray type.

I use Paul Mitchell's super skinny serum on my ends only and use the heat protection spray (Silk Elements) on the length of my hair.

Thanks ladies...I am off the heat for a little while but when I do return I will def try a spray protectant.
