that people have when making comments like that!

i dont see what her saying your hair is trying to grow has to do with walking around unkempt.

many people say "trying to grow". sometimes they do it jokingly and i think other times thats thier way of giving you a back handed compliment.

I must be mad coz I'd have said, "Thanks!" Not trying to be funny but if someone noticed that my hair was trying to grow--coz that's always been a dream of mine--I'd be so happy that any progress is noticeable to more than just me. *shrug*

I also didn't get what that had to do with hair being unkempt.

A comment like that is sort of double sided depending on who it's coming from.. Like if my sister says.. "look at you trying to be cute"... I honestly know it's a compliment on my outfit, but if it's coming from a person that I really don't convo with too much then I take it with a grain of salt. So I say consider the source of the comment. Sometimes it's that ole' green eyed monster...LOLLL

I agree w/Smitty, sometimes people can say things in a way that leaves you miffed rather than feeling complimented. Just brush it off. In the future when your hair is even longer their reaction to it will let you know where they're truly coming from.

OP: IK how You Feel. Since I became a DIY from being a Weekly Salon Go-er with an always Perfectly Coiffed 'Doo, (until I had a Major Salon Mishap) I've had people make all kinds of crazy remarks about My Hair.

Some of them are unbelievably rude too.

So, I can totally sympathize/empathize with you.

It's either in 'tone' inflection or a look. I know exactly how you feel.
