here is american bellydancer adore, she's known for doing bellydance, gymnastics fusion. I'm going to be honest, I don't like her bellydancing at all :lachen:
But I drool over her hair. :love2:
She is mixed, but I don't know with what....
Most of the black american bellydancers seem to have relaxed hair so it's cool that she has "natural" curly hair...
It's not mandatory for a bellydancer to have long flowy hair, but it I guess it helps. I'm glad she's able to hold it down with mega curly hair. She doesn't straighten it for shows either! I'm impressed that she like never uses heat, I've never seen her with her hair straight!
Here are some pics, some in bellydance gear, some not...

all you hair gurus, what type is she??

by the way this is my first time posting pics!!!

I know that this is a haircare forum but I just want to say how awesome it is to see some bellydance photos! I am in love with this dance and have been taking classes off and on for a year now. It really is a beautiful dance that I recommend any woman try. It's another reason I want to grow my hair long.

:yep:
This! Preach!

It was always partly a reason why I want long hair too!

I am also not a fan of her dancing but her hair is dreamy. Thanks for posting!

When i first started bellydancing I did get caught up in the aesthetics of long hair and I think that was one of the motivating factors of why I transitioned but since then (after the transition), I don't care so much about having it long. I am more into tribal and tribal fusions so its not a big deal, and if I want to do cabaret I can just straighten or go the wig route.

I hell hate Miles Copeland but the ladies in Superstars are awesome. I had the chance to meet Isaam (the drummer) and Rachel Bryce. Awesome folks. :yep:

She looks familiar but she wasn't with them when I saw the tour in Charlotte. I like her hair though. :yep:

Ya I almost detest her dancing sadly. But her hair is breathtaking.
Did you start with cabaret?

I also detest that man. He's so ignorant.
But the ladies seem nice!
How's Issam?
He seems cool!

When did you see the tour?
She also wasn't at the tour I saw, thank God, since I don't care to watch her dance...

Girl Miles Copeland annoys me so bad. He's an arrogant snot that thinks full figured women have no place in belly dance.

Issam really is just cool. Laid back and just as sweet as can be. Very respectful too.

I saw it a few years back. Great show! I had the pleasure of taking one of Rachel's workshops. Incredibly awesome woman. :yep:

I started with cabaret a little over four years ago. I think its a good way to get the foundation and learn to travel and layer. Once you start tribal its much more grounded and muscular so its good to have a working understanding of the muscles already. I love it both styles.

I just feel awkward doing cabaret because of that aesthetic thing. I am sure black dancers, especially here, who are trying to make a business out of this can be very successful teachers and performers, but will have a hard time booking private shows compared to other white, Hispanic dancers. And private shows is how many people make their money. Times are a changing though. The art of Bellydance is still new to many people and many people still think we are the same as exotic dancers since they like to bite our steez so I am hoping black dancers will be part of that new aesthetic. :yep:

She's beautiful and I loooove her hair!
She has the long flowing curly hair I want. It'll take me at least 2 more years.

When I met Miles, he was nice to me, but then again I am not a heavyset dancer. :look: (yeah, I was wrong for that.)

This debate over his bias has been going on for a while but he has a reason for everything he does. Look at what he has done as far as spreading the knowledge of around the world? Unfortunately, (or fortunately) the world likes to see pretty things. I think his main motivation, besides making money and possibly exploiting dancers, is to make the dance appealing to the masses. I am positive he as a weight limit but I also think he tips the scale more over to the beauty side and that lack of weight just happens to go with that. He is a business man first and he has been very successful. No one else has managed to do this in years and not many dancers, when he started this, had the name of the financial backing to do this on such a large scale. Now that there is such a huge following and all these new dancers, it is possible women to host these large conventions because there is enough interest in the art form.

Personally I am grateful to the man. My BD journey started with a Neena & Veena fitness dvd when I got out of a relationship and wanted to shed a few pounds. I became addicted and once I master the dvds I went looking for more. I found a studio with a really :censored: instructor but knew that there was no way I could not find something better. So I found American Bellydancer (a BDSS dvd) at the book store and became futher obsessed. I saw a lady named Tamalyn Dallal in that film who had a studio in Miami and that was it. 4 years later I am still studying/dancing at her school which is now owned by Bozenka. Actually Tamalyn taught most of the dancers who now own schools in Miami so no matter where you go, you are still getting a little bit of her. If it not were for his dvds and Rachel Brice I would not have been so motivated so for that I am thankful.
