I did my first "successful" flat iron with my maxiglide this week and love the results. As a natural you just have to make sure your hair is WELL detangled before ironing.

Your reselts came out great!
 
Gorgeous results! Thanks for sharing, BMP! Your post is timely, as I've been researching the best flat iron for 4b hair. My mom and I actually bought the MaxiGlide ~3+ yrs ago (from a now defunct tv shopping network). I never got particularly good results but I was abusing my hair at the time and not using the proper techniques and products for straightening. I just might dig it out and give it another try!

Yeah, I think I have the original version. It was sort of unwieldly and my hair was not silky with swang after using it. That could have been a function of the product and/or my techniqe and products.

The only other flat iron I've used since the MaxiGlide was the T3 Medium Duality flat iron and I never got great results from that either. I need to work on my technique.

Nope! I made sure my hair was already relatively straight using my new blow dryer and from there the MaxiGlide for lack of a better term....glided thru my hair. And the craziest thing is, the steam helps the iron glide thru it even easier! Its the craziest thing.

the steam didnt make it revert? thats my fear and why i am thinking about the fhi runway for my 4b hair

Absolutely not, just the opposite. I think the steam is SO hot, that it actually has the opposite effect and helps to straighten the hair.

I'm really interested in testing the effectiveness of his humidity blocker. So I'm really excited for that.

Did you use the comb attachment with the Andis blowdryer?

Gorgeous results! I used to have a Maxiglide about 4 years ago, but I stopped using it because the teeth would snag my hair. I don't think I was using it correctly.

hmmm....this is SO not good for me to read BMP! i almost bought it yesterday and now......
 
I have a perfectly fine flat iron that gets my hair as straight as I want it, but now I want a MaxiGlide. Thanks :rolleyes: lol. I think it's all the steam talk. I love steam. In my coffee mug, in my shower. Heck, I'm steaming right now b/c you got me ready to replace my hair appliances. Yay steam.
 
BEAUTIFUL!! I was going to order the HSN Maxiglide package yesterday. And decided against since I don't flat iron much. After seeing your results makes me wish I order cuz now it is sold out.
 
BlackMasterPiece can you do a tutorial on pincurling hair? I want my hair to come out with lil curls around it but I never accomplish the look I am going for!

Wow, pin curls and my straw set clearly needs to be the first tutorials I put up, they are the highest requested for sure. I've had some computer issues with the laptop they were on, but it should be resolved and up shortly:yep:
 
I see that they have different kinds of maxiglide. Which is the right one to get?

I *just* styled my mommy's hair with the MaxiGlide too!! She always wants to get presses when I have presses:rolleyes: okay here are the results!!!

She's really feelin herself right about now yall:cool2:

I love it!!:grin:

Oh and for reference, I did my hair on eight and we did her's on 9 we tried the 5 and her hair laughed at me, we have very thick coarse strands so our hair requires that to get straight and it can handle that level of heat. She's been retaining length wonderfully:yep:

Your results are excellent! I hope mine turns out as well whenever I get the patience to try it out lol.

I am really tempted to buy one but I have a FHI flat iron that I hardly use.

Did you blowdry with an attachment or a brush?

I can't tolerate the MG, but been using steam in my method for many years now even before MG
