I have a maxiglide, but I never use it ( confessions of a former PJ :look:). After looking at your pics, I may try it out :yep:. I just did a BKT, so I'm not so afraid of heat styling now...although I won't make it a habit.

I'm so glad people are getting up on my beloved Maxiglide!!! :)

Your results are beautiful!!!

I asked on your blog for anyone else who maybe wanted to know. I notice you straighten a lot, how do you keep your curls? What are you using to make them revert back?

can't find it on blog. post answer here please
Copied and pasted from www.BlackMasterPiece.com:

Comment #9:

I use the IC Fantasia Heat Protectant in the Pink bottle. I use both the serum and spray and with that I havent had any issues with reversion. The texture of my ends did loosen but not enough to prevent me from rockin a fro.

I also think it has to do with the fact that I have coarse coils are SO tight and SO tiny to start out with that even if the texture does loosen some, which it does, my hair is still coily and still maintains its curl pattern overall. If you have really loose curls, you’re probably more prone to issues with reversion.

HTH:yep:

Good gracious, your hair looks gorgeous! Great results! I wish I had skills like yours...

Your hair looks fabu BMP. Why not the XP model? What's the difference between the MP and the XP?

WOW! great results! I was very apprehensive to use a maxiglide, cause the only thing I can think of is.... steam+ my spongy, kinky hair = big poofy MESS at the end of the day! But Im seeing more and more pics that prove that maybe that might not be the case. *SIGH* I guess the only way to be sure for me is just to try! LOL. Thanks lady!

Awe thanks love hopefully when my tutorials come out everyone will have my skills:yep:

Thanks hun! I've heard the XP is really bulky and huge and I'm big on having my hair in curls so I chose the MP to have more versatility and ability to do loose waves and curls as I straighten:yep:

Thanks sweety! Yes this is definitely a different kinda steam, I think it has to do with the fact that the steam is really hot and its concentrated on the hair rather then just sitting out there causing frizz, it does the opposite.

Sidenote, I'm STILL in love with your pixie braids miss lady!! They're gorgeous!!

The XP is big and bulky, the MP is easier to handle. This is from what I've read about them.

I'm kind of curious if there is a difference based on performance levels. Does the XP straighten more hair faster based on the fact that it's got wider plates? I read that the XP was better for thick long "difficult" hair. Which I translate to "kinky" hair. My hair is very thick and BSL. So you can't curl using the XP?

I don't have anything to ask but I have something to say...... that has to be one of the best flat irons on natural hair I have ever seen! It looks so silky and shiny. And not that I-put-a-bunch-of-stuff-in-it type shiny its that nice, smooth, moisturized type sheen :yep: You did an execellent excellent job!

One is a bit bigger than the other but I've used them both and they both work so well!!

LMAO! I saw that thing and got scared:lachen:

Maybe if you have a lot of hair to deal with bigger is better.

Well I'm BSL currently and growing my hair to my thighs. So I want something that can handle that much hair and last a LOOOOONG time. Not just a few years. But I don't want to sprain my wrist either. Hmmm something to think about. I wish I could see a side by side comparison of both irons.

ETA: It's going to be a while til I reach thigh length. Thinking about the MP now.

I don't know why this whole post cracked me up. :lachen:

On the HSN tv spot they show them curling the hair with an XP as well as MP

On HSN they had 3 models. 3b/cish, 2cish, and 2a. They only used the MP on the 2a girl. And FYI the 2cish girl was not black.

I’m like you CurlyMoo and anticipate having some looooooooong hair and people on here talk about having their Maxiglide for 5 years and more so I didn’t want to get the MP and outgrow it. I ordered the XP yesterday, when it gets here I’ll let y’all know if I end up thinking its too big!

I wanted to know this too and everything I've read says they're the same. Someone I work with who owned both says they're the same.

I chose the smaller because I don't have a lot of experience with flat irons and I wanted something easy to handle.

I've only ever tried the MP so thats all I can really speak on:yep: I really couldn't imagine wanting an iron any bigger then this really lol

That would be cool to see. The MP is really big on its own, trust me and it can do large sections at a time. I think its can handle hair of all lengths.....even thigh length:giggle:

Thanks for keeping up with me! I really hope it works for you too!! Welcome to the board!:flowers:

Sorry if it's been asked already but how often do you straighten?
In the winters, I straighten alot, its fast, super easy to maintain lasts great in the cold and easy to sleep on. I'll straighten for two weeks and do a natural air dry style for a week and then straighten again for two weeks and so on. I also give my hair breaks by putting them in senegalese twist extensions as well :yep:
