I make a special point to keep my scalp clear of anything that could clog my follicles. I just shampooed with MillCreek Biotin shampoo and I'm sitting with the condish in my hair and on my scalp. I love things that stimulate my scalp. I can't go longer than 1 week without a shampoo (nonSLS) co-washing alone does not cut it for me scalp wise longer than 1 week. Scalp health is the main reason I stay natural, being relaxed would be more convenient but in the long run, I know my scalp would suffer.

One of the reasons I want to go natural is b/c I'm concerned about the long-term damage to my scalp.

ooh my scalp used to be a H.A.M! I thought it was dandruff before LHCF, realized it was major product buildup, and I never clarified in my life, so all that scalp-clogging mineral oil and petroleum was just sitting on my poor scalp. But now its never felt better! I use coconut oil mixed with a few drops of tea tree oil on my scalp if it feels dry, but no more flakes and itchies

my scalp used to be dry and flaky! but i shampoo once a week using using my chagrin valley shampoo bars....eh even before i started using those i shampooed regularly and would oil my scalp in between, so i have those issues no more!

Loving your prof pic empressri!!!!
Chunky twist out? Do tell...

Currently, I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis. My derm has me on Loprox medicated shampoo and Luqix foam for the next 4 weeks. Hopefully, this time around it will be completely cured.

I'm still having a problem with product build up! It seems like no matter how hard I try to scratch it out and rinse it, I never clear it all the way out.

I used to get dandruff sometimes, but now that I wash, cowash, DC, moisturize & seal more often, it went away. So I guess it's healthy.

I have never really had scalp woes except for stressful times. The thing that I recommend is that you use one of the dandruff things designed such as Neutrogena T-Gel's or Head & Shoulders both are sold at Target. I remember earlier this year getting creepy crawlies so, I co-washed at least 2-3 times that week with Head & Shoulders Conditioners(Clarifying Conditioner) because the shampoo is too harsh and I felt something medicated on my scalp and the creepy crawlies disappeared.

9 months ago I would have voted for itchy and tender scalp in the crown w/ dry, brittle, significantly shorter hair in that area too. I used to use all products for dry itchy scalp and it would keep the problems at bay for about 3-4 days until I was forced to wash again b/c of those problems. I even went to the dermatologist and was given topical steroids, which helped but the problem returned awhile after I stopped using them. But after joining lhcf I did alot of research on essential oils and they truely changed my life--well scalp. I use peppermint, rosemary, lavender, cedarwood, and lemongrass all with jojoba oil as the carrier oil. Now I have a whole new scalp. It no longer itches, is not tender, and the hair in the region feels like the rest of the hair on my head and is the same length.

Thanks to my prepoo regi and fewer retouches, my scalp has gone from :nono: to .

Dirty and itchy scalp

  • 1 cup Pantene moisturizing conditioner
    One tablespoon each.....
  • EVOO (treatment for damaged, dry hair, superior penetrating power)
  • Tea tree oil (antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal)
  • Peppermint oil (promotes hair growth)
  • Sleep in overnight

My scalp has always been hard to please. I would get thick crusty dandruff from product buildup, or dry thin dandruff from dryness (literally hours after shampooing). It was like no matter what I did, my scalp always looked a mess :nono:.........

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY I gave up sulfates. SInce using Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo (and baking soda to clarify) my scalp has been soooooo happy and flake-free!!!!

I also oil my scalp about 3-4 nights a week with Black & Bossie all-natural hair & scalp oil (contains keratin, biotin and aloe vera and NO mineral oil or petrolatum) and I add in a couple drops of peppermint oil and rosemary for stimulation.

For the first time in my life I'm not embarassed by the condition of my scalp.

:love3: I  LHCF!!!

I think my scalp is pretty healthy. I get no flakes, no bumps, no excessive itching, no dryness, and not too oily. As long as I keep it clean, it's fine. One thing I've noticed is that it gets sore at one spot in my crown and in another at my temple. I don't know why it does this, but randomly and for a few days, it'll just be sore. When that happens, I apply tea tree oil and coconut oil, and the soreness goes away in a day or two. But I wish I knew what made it do that. I part my hair looking for redness or bumps, but I never see anything.

How long after you gave up sulfates did you notice an improvement? Was it immediate?
