POROSITY CONTROL: Should I see a difference right away?

hi,
I only started using it recently as well, I dont think it will help dryness, as I feel deep conditioning and moisturising daily will help with that.
but I know it helps with shine. My hair is always dull after styling as its very porous, but with porosity control I get more healthy shine.
I will be switching back to lye after 10yrs of no-lye, so hopefully this and porosity control will really help me get my old shine back.

I used it the other day after my wash and before my conditioner and my hair feels EXACTLY the same

DRY as ever
Sorry your hair feels the same as before EbonyPerez.
When I first used this earlier this year, I felt the difference right away with how my wet hair felt against my skin as I rinsed it off. My hair felt heavier after using Porosity Control because it was absorbing the water the way it is supposed to. My hair felt even better after the deep conditioning with my favorite moisturizing conditioner. It felt moist and heavy with moisture when it did not before.

Did you use a moisturizing conditioner afterward?

Umm I used the Aveda Damage Remedy line afterwards

should I have used my aubrey organics?

Bumping !!!
:bump:
Bumping !!!

My ends always seem dry, brittle and weak after airdrying in braids or airdry hanging loose. When I rollerset, I never see this problem and I do bun nightly.

So how soon should I see a difference while I'm using porosity control as a final rinse after DC with heat? :perplexed

Thanks for posting this. I myself use porosity control for the first time this weekend, but there was no difference with my hair. I used PC after shampooing, before my deep condition. My hair was still dry too. I will continue to use PC, i'm not giving up so soon. I need help!

Somebody anybody.
:bump:
Somebody anybody.

I'm trying to airdry in braids, braidout or hanging loose. I'm only successful airdrying in rollersets. We need help yall!!!

^^why don't you just put rollers on the ends so the cuticle will dry flat?

Thanks for your response TRANZ4LAST! :yep: I have done that using the scarf method but what I want to do is airdry in braids or hanging loose sometimes. I'm trying to do low-no manipulation on wet hair so I can benefit from stretching or transitioning.

:bump:
I'm thinking about getting porosity control but im not sure how your suppose to use it. Is it used before you DC or as a rinse off after you DC?

Hmm I noticed a difference right away, after the first wash.

My natural hair is not as BIG when I straighten it. But I have not really noticed a difference in my hairs moisture level.

You may need extra moisture on your ends? Are you natural?

I thought Roux was used as a last condish/rinse?
I have to admit, I haven't noticed much difference either so I don't use it regularly (still on the small bottle after months). I'll use it regurlarly and do a moisturizing DC after....

I haven't used PC but do use ACV (75ml ACV to 1 litre of spring water) as my final step after a steam DC and I noticed the difference in my hair immediately; it was soo soft, smooth, locked-in more moisture, shiny and virtually tangle free :cloud9:.

The first time I used PC, I noticed immediately that my hair was better. It wasn't much better...it wasn't like a miracle or anything. But my hair was holding on to water better and was smoother after the first use.

I mixed it in with my DC, and I used it as a final rinse, followed up with cold water.
Now, I put it in my DC, use it as a final rinse, and then do a cold ACV rinse, and it works even better.

I'm relaxed but 10 weeks post. I just don't understand why airdrying in braids is such a hassle for my ends. :nono:

when i used it, my hair felt instantly different. I did clarify prior to using it though to make sure that no other product buildup would be in the way of how it worked. my hair felt full, heavier, and so dang silky.

I need to pick up some today. thanks for reminding me.

No instantaneous difference. It actually tangles more until I use a moisturizer. I use it every other week and definitely after I color which is about every 6-8 weeks. Overall condition is better.

I think if you clarify, then do a protein treatment, followed by a deep moisturizing conditioner, ending with PC, you'll see a difference. I realized that what I needed was not only a remedy for dry, porous hair; I also needed to get rid of build up from using different products. I needed more strength (the protein), then moisture, for balance. I think PC works best when all other challenges are overcome.

Well i did clarify before using it ensure that i had no build up on my my hair. I will try using it as a last rinse and see what will happen.... Thank you

This is exactly what I did for my last shampoo. My ends still got dry and brittle when airdrying in braids. I dunno. Maybe my hair just doesn't like to airdry in braids. :ohwell:

When I First Began my HHJ, I was told I had Very Dry, Very Porous, Hair.:look:

So Porosity Control was one of the 1st products I researched and bought.:yep:

IMO: Within a Month, this Single Product completely restored the condition of my Hair from Years of Salon Overprocessing, Overlapping, Double Processing w/Color & Relaxer and Poor Neutralization.

I always Porosity Control as my Final Rinse. I always DC with Heat. Therefore, using heat, Your Cuticle is Raised/Lifted to Absorb the Moisture of your Conditioner.

Using Porosity Control as a Final Rinse, Closes/Flattens the Cuticle, thus Locking Moisture In, and restores the Ph Balance of Your Hair.

I always leave in one 1-3 minutes no longer and rinse out. I think the "directions" say 1 minute.

I think that's where alot of people make their Mistake, by Leaving it on Longer than you are suppose to.:look:

ITA with all the bolded for me too. It is absolutely perfect after a henna treatment to make the cuticles lie flat and smooth and makes for easier detangling as well.

I  Porosity Control Poo and Conditioner. The Roux Alpha 5 in 1 Corrective Shampoo is wonderful too and is used on hair damaged by the sun, chlorine or pollution, perms, color, bleaching or relaxers.

The label indicates that it is so effective that no after-shampoo conditioner is needed but I condition anyway. I especially like it because it does not have any SLS or ALS (sulfates) in it.

The 5 in 1 Poo:
  1. Improves texture and manageability
  2. Restores correct pH balance
  3. Seals in moisture
  4. Adds body and shine
  5. Detangles instantly.

I tried it once,as the final rinse (i have the sample bottle) and didn't see much difference BUT i will try it again and this time mix it with my deep conditioner and leave it on for a few hours.

This may be the problem. Everything isn't for everybody. My hair HATES airdrying. It turns into a frizzy dry mess regardless of how much moisture I use.

I didn't either when I used it only once. I started to see a major positive turn around in my hair condition after a month of continued use. You cannot give up after just just one try.

It is not an instant fixer upper, it will take a little time to see those promising results that many others are experiencing with this product.

It's the overall feel, health and manageability of the hair that changes for the better overtime.

Personally, I think with "certain" products, it's better to Follow the Directions.:look:

If a Product says leave on 30-60 seconds, 5-10 minutes (whatever)

and you leave it on an Hour or Overnight....... and stuff is all tangly, dry, dull, matted and then you "Question" the Product:perplexed

That's Just Me. Some things I follow the directions with (and this happens to be one of them)

Others...maybe not so much:look:.

Back to PC: It took about a month to "correct" my Porosity Issues.:yep:

I used it the first time after a deep conditioning session it was fine. Lately anytime i use it after deep conditioning with heat I have SERIOUS tangles, so I now mix it with my deep conditioners and it seem to work better.

I credit PC with turning my hair completely around--but not overnight (?!)

All the other parts of your regimen have to be on point. For me once I got the right pieces in place to put moisture in my hair the use of PC helped me retain that moisture. My hair could not do that before.

Follow the directions. Do a quick rinse as a final step before drying and styling. I leave it on for no more than a minute. It took me about 2 weeks to start seeing a shine on my hair that I had never seen before.
