Braids with phony pony or an afro puff. I also go to the stylist for extensions. I try not to use too much head, but I want to show off my length. I'm going to invest in a Lace wig because my hair is too short and too kinky nappy for a lot of other styles.

Right now i wear plaits under a head wrap maybe 3x a week. Then the other 2 days i do a plait out. I find that the more my hair grows the less i can wear it out without getting tangled.

Because of the mix of textures and the length of my hair I can't wear it out without it looking like a mullet... So I usually wear it up in a bun.

Mostly, I just do two strand twists, and then pigtail bun the twists. My back/sides aren't really long enough to do one bun (especially since I don't particularly stretch the hair out after I do wet twists), so yeah. Pigtail buns.

Right now I'm on a huge low-mani personal challenge (I was natural for 17 years before this BC in October and, let me tell you, I can style like nobody's business! but it's not conducive to achieving my length goals, you know?)....so I'm really into twist styles with flat twists in the front (leave those in for 2 1/2 weeks) and bantu knots (leave those in for forever, lol). Bantu knots are the most amazing thing ever because it looks chic and hip and fresh all the time, but I'm really not touching my hair and my hair staaaaays moisturized! I haven't had any problems with dryness and my ends are tooootally protected!

When I'm not in braids, two strand twists, cornrows, or kinky twists, I'd wear either wash n go puffs or pinned back styles. I'm thinking about trying a frohawk though.

I used to wear a wash and go every day, until I read on the forums that they are a major cause of single strand knots.

Now I braid my hair, then wear the braidout in pigtail buns.

I have mostly been doing twists. For the past two weeks, I have been doing flat twists, which I find my fast to do and definitely dries faster.

I see I voted other way back when (but never posted). That probably referred to when I was doing braids for most of the year.

Now that I've stopped braiding, I usually do puffs or fros on partially stretched hair. I also band my hair for "band-outs" sometimes and it lasts for a few days. The look I achieve is stretched out and big but still really textured provided I do enough sections. I cannot maintain twist/braids outs past one day for dear life.

i've been wearing w&g puffs everyday but during the winter i am gonna be wearing a lot of twists, maybe some twist outs.

I've been wearing spirals for about 6 months (my 5th month into transition). They are done with a marcel curling iron and last 2 weeks. I maintain by pin curling at night or every other night.

No heat or water touches my hair until the next wash (14 days). I don't have to comb or manipulate, just fluff up with my fingers and go. For this reason, my hair is transitioning and growing VERY well. I love that wild big look I get as they fall. :gorgeous:

Any combo of-

wet bun, rollerset/flat ironed, half wig if I want a down look without putting heat to my hair.

Since I have major shrinkage and the humidity is about 80-90% in Miami, I just wear a fro. Once the temperature starts to cool (ha!) or drop below 60% humidity, I'll be doing twist outs, braid outs, and straightening with heat. Now i'm daydreaming about it!
