Update: The bottle doesn't say. Here's what it reads..

"From Norway: The finest fish oil from deep, cold ocean-water fish."

:lachen: :look: That could be shark for all we know. I guess we could research what fish are in Norway's waters.

I just started taking the fish oils and notice a difference in the shine of my hair. I love the healthy look of my new growth hairs as well as a result.

Your progress so far is wonderful Ivey and good luck on reaching your WL hair goals. You have inspired me further to continue taking my vitamins everyday.

Isn't the same thing it says on the Viviscal pill package? I know it involves some nordic fish oil/marine extract.

Oh wow, I will be picking me up some. How much do you take and how often?

Hi there gowingstrong - The bottle says take 1 - 2 teapoons up to two times a day but I just take a spoonful (kitchen ones which are about 2 teaspoons). This is because research shows that you need to look for a fish oil with about 1000mg of omega 3 a day for optimal health with some people requiring a bit more. I get pretty bad PMT (which has got better with my fish oils) so just take a table spoon. I also maily opted for this fish oil because it has a higher EPA to DHA concentration which is thought to regulate mood (i.e. PMT). The ideal ratio is 2:1 or 3:1 but the only ones I could find with this ratio were capsules which I hate (I just don't like pills). So in the end I opted for the oil. It also has a nice lemony taste which makes it more bearable and I don't get any "fish burps".

Anyway HTH's

I never heard of Viviscal before, I might look into it. Is it a supplement you take? How are your results?

I tried it years ago - I did notice faster, stronger growth and shinier hair. :yep:

It's pricey though, the oil looks like a much better deal.

It usually says on the bottle under ingredients. I'm kind of wondering if there is a difference in the type of fish that gives such great results. I love Salmon and hear great things about the benefits of eating salmon. So I look for fish oil with salmon. Some fish are just higher in nutrients than others. Sorry I don't mean to grill you. mmm guess what I'll be having for dinner. Grilled salmon! :lick: :lick:

Carlson's - The very finest fish oils has anchovies and sardies (i.e. small fish) the rationale behind this is that because they are small fish they are lower down in the food chain and therefore less likely to accumulate heavy metals i.e. Mercury found in larger fish (hence why I alternate this one with the cod liver oil which can have this problem).

The Cod liver oil IMHO is prob one of the best sources of fish oil (although has lesser values of EPA/ DHA) and is more susceptible to heavy metals. However Look for Arctic, Nordic and Icelandic producers and you should be ok. Cod Liver Oil also has naturally occuring Vits A, D & E and ALA which are not found in other fish oils. This is prob why it kept me sooooooo darn healthy as a child in Africa. I kid you not I never had to go to the doctor. Its only recently that I have been revisiting the wisdom of my Granny and the way she used to look after me.

Medical professionals always agree that this is prob the single most impt supp.

HTH's

Wow--I just thinking that same thing... My Granny gave us chewable Vitamin Cs and Cod liver oil EVERYDAY! I'm going to look for Carlson's today. :yep:

Did you take it with vitamin C and drink plenty of water? That really helps. :yep:

Check out what the chica (Kandee Johnson) says about it in this U-Tube video - love her tutorials ...

OMG!!! This is the exact video that I saw where I discovered Carlson's products. I have tried fish oil before (Nature Made) and although I got great results from it, I didn't like the fishy burps. I was trying to find a different brand and I'm glad I switched. For some reason this particular brand, doesn't cause it.

Ha Ha - Yep she is kinda legend. I like her she is entertaining and gives good tips - Love U tube so much free info and tutorials !!!

ETA: I wonder if Carlsons know about the free advertising they are getting. U tube is so fab for that.

Yeah, your growth is insane . I went out and bought the same kind fish oil :look: today and will document my results as you have done. I'm trying to be full BSL by Dec 31, 2009 and full MBL by May 2010. I think this along with eating healthy, exercise and my high protein diet just may get me there . Wish me luck!
