a BIG F!!!! She never taught me how to take care of my hair.Actually I don't have any memories of her touching my hair, or combing it or braiding it.
We never used conditioner, we used the same bar of soap that we used for the body on our hair, we never used moisturizer..from time to time..vaseline or blue magic or dax..so no wonder that at age 9, i was happy to get a relaxer...
and i forgot...she always told me that my hair was bad, too nappy and too thick
i don't hold any grudges but she still thinks i have bad hair and after 3 years of being natural, she still hopes i'll put in a relaxer

... (Thanks mommy!
and all the ladies & gents on LHCF)
. If she could use the knowledge she has now, she would probably get a B+ (She's still rough with the comb)

A+...until the great Jheri Curl disaster of 1982(she let Artelia from Artelia's Hair Concern in San Bernardino, CA cut my golden blonde APL length hair off to 2" when I was ten, talking 'bout she needed to get rid of the dead ends
). Can you tell I'm still a lil salty 'bout it?

It was so bad she had to take me to the doctor because of the rash on my forehead and itchy eyes and he told her to take that stupid curl outta my hair! I was too young (2)! Then there was always someone wanting to cut "the dead ends" off my hair. a BIG F!!!! She never taught me how to take care of my hair.Actually I don't have any memories of her touching my hair, or combing it or braiding it.

Before My Mother Became a Nurse, and began putting in long hours at the Hospital, she was a Beautician and she also had 4 Girls and many Neighbors & Relatives she did on the "side"
It wasn't until I took matters into my own Hands that My Hair began to "Suffer" I was more interested in Style than in Length and Health.
You name it, I've had it. Frosted, Streaked, Highlighted, Chopped, Cropped, Long, Short.
If Now, Only I can recover & recapture the exceptional start my mother gave me to having long, healthy beautiful hair, All her trouble would be worth it.![]()
It was long still MBL through college.. but then I was highlighting every 6 months and heat taming daily.
my mommy!

Luckily my hair grew back quickly and I don't remember having short hair for very long.
