Hello Lovely Ladies of LHCF!

It's nice to stop lurkin' and actually have some input for once. I'm LadyFayard, and I'm a NEWBIE TOO! I'd been researching for a few months, stalking the threads, just wondering what I should do with my hair.

And wouldn't you know? I figured it out:

BiG ChOp...Virtually NO TRANSITION

I'd like to share a little of my story with the gift of PICS if you don't mind...

(AHEM)

Can anyone spot why I was SO FRUSTRATED?!?!

Yup, that's right. My hair stayed the same for 4 years straight. Never getting past my ears. It was an endless cycle of: GROW, RELAX, BREAK, GROW, RELAX, BREAK, GROW, RELAX, BREAK. And no matter how many appts I had with my stylist (who does GREAT WORK btw, and will probably strangle me when she sees what I did.), I just couldn't maintain any length that I'd gain. Alot of people have B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L relaxed hair (the hair porn on here is INSANE!), but no matter what products I bought/time I invested, I couldn't give my hair what it needed.

THIS WAS THE LAST STRAW:

Can you see that? I'd spent hundreds of dollars on MOTIONS, and APHOGEE PRODUCTS, CHI and BIOSILK SERUMS, flatironed once a week (never blow dried, air dry only), watched EVERY ATEYAAA tutorial (still love her!), and my obssession got me that ^^^. A pile of dry, broken, dusty hay! That picture was taken after spending 1 hour with plastic cap on my head full of Deep Conditioner. Harumph!:wallbash:

Soooooo...I did it:

That reaction shot, always makes me laugh! But yes, I started from scratch. I'm not really looking for a relaxer any time soon, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out!

Tricks and Tips anyone? I don't really have much to work with right now (a wee bit of fuzzy-fuzz, I'm thinkin' I'm a 4b??), but I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks for checking out my initiation. Before I joined, I checked this place out, and I was really impressed by the amount of positivity, and I hope you enjoy experiencing this with me!

so...Do I get to stay? :perplexed

Welcome!! You're going to learn so much from everyone on this site. Congratulations on you BC. Cant wait to see your hair in a few months.

ps: Of course you can stay!:yep:

one of your pics didn't show up but KUDOS and Congrats on the BC. I would suggest you keep it simple. Lots of scalp massages maybe some co washing and def moisture moisture moisture

PS - you have some pretty eyes

Just wanted to say you are fearless!! My reaction shot would've been me passed out on the floor next to the chair with my misshapen headed self.

ITA on your eyes. They are absolutely lovely.

Welcome! There is definitely a wealth of information on here (and of course you can stay). I would say at the length you can probably do quick co washes and maybe some light oil and go. I am sure some other ladies will chime in with ideas.

Girl, don't you dare put a relaxer in your hair! Stay natural and let your hair grow out. It will be healthier for your hair, and you'll be shocked at the length you'll gain in a year. I have a relaxer now, but I am trying to transition or at least stretch my relaxer until December. Good luck, and congrats on your new hair journey!

Welcome tio the board and WOW girl you are so brave. Congrats and hope you stay in the natural side of the force!

You stay right here, you can still do a blog! Brave one you are and how wonderful to literally start from the scalp on up with such a short cut. Keep it natural, read and question. I am looking forward to your progress photos. Welcome aboard.

Lord uve got balls to cut it all off!!! But yes you get to stay and stalk the boards even more!!! I know how u feel about what hair type/ texture. Mines about 1.5-2 inches of natural and the rest relaxed. Just keep taking care of the fuzz till you trial and error and find what works for YOU. God bless!!!! What do you plan to do with your hair right now?

Congratulations on your BC!
I hope you stay around. I am looking forward to your progress pics.
At this point moisture and more moisture will benefit your hair.
Your hair will probably grow like a wildfire after this.

Congrats on your BC and welcome to LHCF!!!!! Since you're starting from the BC, you will really get a chance to see how your hair responds to different procedures and products, and see how well it grows. Documentation is key, along with establishing a regimen that is good for you to achieve a healthy head of hair!! Good luck as you begin your journey. You've come to the right place!

Thank You for the heads up Ma'am! Check it out, the pic is fixed, and now you can view my SHAME!

So your natural hair journey begins! I'm sure it'll be different this time. HHG!

Wow! What a great post! I appreciate you taking the time to share your stories and pictures with us. It's people like you keep this forum going. :yep:

Welcome!

I say, soak it in, and take it slooooooow. There is a ton of info on the board, and it can lead to bandwagon jumping and severe PJism which typically ends in near fatal broke-itis. :lachen: After a while you'll get a feel for what your hair wants/needs. It's always best to start with the basics and branch out from there. :yep:

:welcome: You will soon find out that discovering this site is the best thing you could have ever done for your hair enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:lachen: Do you know that's EXACTLY what I was worried about!? I have an extremely high 4head (*snap* tyra banks, holla if ya hear me! *snap*), and I was afraid when I shaved my head, my forehead would just keep going up and up and awaaaaaay. LMAO. But that just lets you know how ANGRY I was with my hair, alien dome or not, SOMETHIN' HAD TO GIVE!

And thank you ladies for the compliment. I'm gonna have to WORK my eyeshadow and mascara now, my eyes are front and center without my hair (hubby says its a good thing...I guess).

Congrats on your BC! Of course you should stay. I wish you the best on your natural journey. you will learn so much from everyone here!

:) Thanks for the encouragement, and I'll be staying tuned for when you join me in BCland. Hmmm...What CAN I do with my hair now? Here are some of the things I did before:

Not even the BEST NIGERIAN HAIR BRAIDING GENIUS can catch what I have now...

2hpq1cl.jpg

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be BANNED from my regular shop after this...But, I don't think a sew-in will do the job either...

2urber8.jpg

Of course I can't wear a wig 'cuz....Heeeeeeyyyy, wait a minute....???

Yes, I've GOT IT! In between, moisturizing and rocking my little spriglets, I could wear a wig. Or do my spriggies need to breathe?

Good Idea/Bad Idea?

Any MORE Ideas?
