Was this contest for women of color or aa women? I ask because I saw a sprinkling of white and asian women. What was the criteria?

It was my understanding that it was for African American women because I saw it advertised on the my black is beautiful campaign website.

Ooh, I hope rwebb on pg3 got in. Her little monologue was so cute and appealing and she's right, we should see more women with hair like hers. It's really cute, too, looks like a bantu knot-out and she's very pretty.

I couldn't believe my eyes and it's so obvious!!!:nono: Someone auditioned in WL braids. I don't get it.:perplexed

Okay, I am not the best fake hair spotter, but when someone mentioned fake hair on pg 1 and 2, how was I able to pick it out immediately? :lachen: Dead. Wrong.

You're right. Taken from the Casting Call advertisement:

Pantene® celebrates the diverse beauty of African-American women, particularly their hair. In its second collaboration with the My Black is Beautiful Tour, the 2009 Pantene Casting Call is setting out to meet women across the country, like you, who use and love Pantene.
You could win the chance to be the next Pantene model and appear in a magazine ad. Attend the live casting call or enter the online casting call for your chance to win.

i got the email too. i did the video on a whim one night. i shouldnt of done it right after a hardcore aphogee treatment:lol: but i was in a great mood and it was fun doing it..lol.
a lot of the heads entered are absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing who the finalists are and who wins.

I hope if nothing else this will get more ladies of color interested in learning how to take care of their hair.

Oh my goodness, I so love Aida's and Michelle's hair  .. Is Aida on this board? i need to see her pics stat ! she makes me want to relax my hair again LOL

If Beyonce can sell hair products, why not other weaved up girls...
I'm jus' sayin'.....

This is true and to be technical, from what I read of the requirements, they did not specify it had to be your own hair. You can use Pantene on weave and lacefronts. Is it fair? Maybe not but they didn't break any rules and I am sure they can argue that point.

I hope Sylver2 won. I found her video.

on page 9

Why did I spot a weave on page 1? I pray I'm wrong.[/quote]

I hope that you are indeed wrong. Contest like this highlight beautiful women of color (something that happens non too often) and it would be a shame if someone felt they had to "fake" it.

Who? Ayana? I need to see some scalp and a part and i caught a glimpse of a real short piece underneath

Anybody know if Leobody made it???? I'm surprised at not seeing her photo on there. Nevuh mind!!! Mwedzi should have done one (well, if she doesn't use the product...but her hair is the best).

Which ones, specifically??

i figured ayanna on page one is suspect because of the big ole chunk of hair that stuck out in the back of her head

but for the life of me I cant figure out the lacefront on page 2.

the blond sistah on page two...while her hair doesnt look fake....whatever she has going on in the front of her head is.........confusing for lack of a nice word. It's like she started her baby hair in the middle of her head or something :nono:

Sylver, Lexi and Aida's entries gave me a hairgasm! :lick:

Sylver I'm in the D.C area....if you ever feel like doing a seminar I will be there front and center lol

I have coily 4a/b hair and you have seriously made me take a second look at how i perceive my own tresses.

This is true. There is nothing in the rules against it. But so often people assume that because you are a Black woman with long hair that it can't be yours. I mean, everyone knows Beyonce wears wigs and lacefronts, she's even talked about before how they are necessary to protect her hair from all of the styling that her career demands.

I think this contest is different. I mean, the call specifically talked about how Patene is trying to celebrate women of color and their hair...it seems like wearing artificial hair would violate the spirit of the contest. Plus, I would hate to see a woman with fake hair in the commerical representing women of color and have someone look and say, "Oh, well that can't be her hair. AND have the be right." :look: Just my .02.

We do enough naming and shaming on these boards - it's probably best to PM the names of the alleged weave and lacefront wearers to those who haven't spotted them yet. :look:

i'm excited for Slyver2. can't wait to see who the finalists are.

i think the ladies with weave should be disqualified.

Those videos were great. I liked PatriceFFrench because that's the kind of thick hair we have in our family.....

I agree. There are a lot of weaves advertising black hair products. It would be nice though to see someone with their own healthy hair, even if it not the longest.

Although I think there are several lovely heads of hair on the site, I think Sylver2's hair is gorgeous on the video and a great representation of hair in the 4 texture range. It would be nice to see her win, but maybe I am biased because she is a part the board? :ohwell: IDC, I still think she should be a winner. :yep:
