I was just wondering how many people have missed a wedding, party, work, or school due to a bad hair day?

I'll go first, I missed going out to the club, or going to out for the night due to either my hair looking like a HAM (in the past, pre-LHCF) or cause I had to do my regime for the night.

Since I started my HHJ a few weeks ago and hadn't perfected my ponytail after a cowash, I decided not to go to an event because the new growth and "kitchen" were too embarassing.

my college doesn't allow its students to come to class with their hair wrapped unless it's for religious reasons (which i think is a good think, quite frankly). i used to skip class if my hair wasn't acting right. thankfully i've got a better grip on how to style my hair!

but i'll still use hair as a reason to reschedule / cancel a date.

Honestly, can't really think of one. I sweat out my hair at the club so much I don't really care how it looks once I get there (cuz it's gonna look a HAM when I get home :lachen:). I probably have skipped a date or something because of it; I just cant' think of it. I know I've wanted to skip church a few times, but mom wasn't havin it. And I've learned the fine form of pinning my twists up when they become a fuzzy wuzzy mess (like they are now ), so not for work either. I'm sure I'm gonna look back and see times when I should have more seriously considered it though!!

Just yesterday I refused to go to kroger to get my mom some snicker ice cream. My hair was on a notha level. Lol. But, today I made up for that so all is well!

i havent had this problem,
i usually throw on a wig if its disastrous. but other than that ive been pretty lucky, ill think its looks like crap but no one will notice.

I can't imagine missing an event due to hair... being a little late, maybe, but missing it altogether, no. Especially things like weddings and parties that don't happen everyday, that would just be too superficial. Missing work for hair just seems irresponsible. Missing school (high school, not post-secondary classes)... well, that's a different story,. There have been plenty of events in which I wished my hair would have looked better when I saw pictures later, but ultimately, it doesn't really matter at all.

Yeah.......My Director had this "cousin" who had relocated from another State, He ask me if I could "Help His Cousin find a Job" which is sorta what I do.

Long Story short, while Helping this "Gentleman" He began to call me frequently and began discussing things not related to Job Hunting, His Resume etc....and started trying to take it to a "Personal Level" and began asking me to Dinner, Movie etc....(you know the drill).:look:

Well, I had just suffered this major setback and I was tryna' get my hair back to healthy and it was/is looking a Hotmess so.............I kinda admit, I strung him out there a little bit.

Because I was totally self-conscious about my hair and I am not wearing a weave etc.....Although he kept insisting, "Can't you put on a Hat/Wig or something?" And....."I bet it doesn't even look THAT Bad, Come On, I just want to Meet You?"

He eventually lost interest and said he was moving on.:perplexed

So, yeah......I have.

I've missed work because I was putting in braids (and I braid really slowly) all night. I was too vain to wear a scarf or hat, so I called in "sick (n tired of stayin up all night braiding my stupid hair)" :wallbash: Thank God for sick days!!!!

I stayed home from church one day because my hair looked tore up. There are a lot nice looking guys--I don't go there for that but hay, you can't risk it. I am trying to get married.

Nope. That's what halfwigs and the old standby - a ponytail - is for. I refuse to be a slave to my hair. Life is too short for that.

I missed a wedding in May. Plus my cycle came a week early so I did not feel like doing hair hair or anything at all I felt like crap. I was really looking forward to going because I knew my friend ,who I have a huge crush on, was going to be there. I wanted to look extra nice for him. I would have been looking like a bum if I struggled and went so I stayed home.

When I was still in university, if I had woken up too late and my hair was shrunken, I just skipped it. To get my hair ready into the least time-consuming hairstyle, I still would have needed to completely drench my hair with water, seal and then fix into a puff. It was annoying to miss school but not a big deal to me. I also skipped when I didn't have enough time to get dressed, so it wasn't about being hair obsessed.

I've nearly missed nights out because of my hair but I tended to get it together at the last minute. I have met friends up late many times though because a style look longer than I expected.

prob. missed a club or party. i know i recently missed a bbq cuz i was 16 weeks post. my half wig was knotted up cuz i threw it it some bag. and i had nothing to wear. But i never missed school or work

Zero. It would never dawn on me to miss an event over hair. When my hair acts up, I do a wash-and-go or a flapper chignon if my hair is frizzy.

i haven't missed any important events, but i have passed going to the mall/movies because i was probably dc-ing or under the dryer -- sometimes i just need 'me' time

Not that I can remember. I'd rather go with less than perfect hair than to not go and miss out. My hair is not that serious.

I've never just skipped an event because of a bad hair day. I have missed events because my hair wasn't done though. I can't just throw my hair in a puff or slick it back. :nono: Due to my hair type even the simplest styles are incredibly time consuming.
