What makes your hair airdry SOFT?

for me a bit of shea butter and evoo does the trick. I get a great fluffy fro that way.

IMO, it's more about the technique than the product.

Air drying loose always makes my hair come out drier, even if I use the same products. So I airdry in braids or twists. My hair comes out softest when I moisturize my wet hair with a creamy (not thin/watery or super thick like a dc) water-based conditioner/moisturizer/leave-in and then seal with a thick or heavy oil (ex: evoo, castor oil).

I use phyto7 and camellia oil - works like a charm for soft, silky air-dried hair. I have to not touch it until it's dry; otherwise, I will get a little poufy.

I used to have this problem with my cowashes. My hair used to dry so hard. I then started to add oil to my V05 condish and my hair dries so soft! Try adding oil to your condish or poo.

this is such a greath thread, thanks op ! i've recently begun wearing my natural hair out more often and it's lacking softness

I part towel-dried hair into 4 sections. Detangle with RedKen Anti-Snap leave-in. I apply Giovanni Direct Leave-In to each section then air-dry in fat-twists. Smooth soft hair is a direct result...:lick:

I agree with msa, drying in braids works really well. The other thing that makes my hair dry really soft is a nettle tea rinse.

Just wanted to add that henna has helped me retain that moisturized feel like never before.

Roux Porosity Control.

If you have porosity issues your hair will feel dry and crunchy regardless of what products you use.

I had been having issues with my relaxed hair air drying super hard and breaking, but I followed Pokahonta's suggestion to use Lustrasilk Cholesterol Plus as a leave in and I have been heat free for the past 5 weeks! Now all I do are wash n gos and my hair actually looks nice :) I think the products you use make the biggest difference. I also use Porosity Control after every wash as part of the PC challenge.

I add my products to my wet hair then bun. My hair is always soft when dried. I use Oyin's Juices & Berries (leave in), Hairveda's Whipped Baggy Cream (moisturizer), then seal with Hairveda's Cocasta & Shikakai. I do switch up my leave in but I always add leave in, moisturizer, and seal on wet hair. Oh yeah I do an acv rinse with every wash & cowash.

I agree with this. Drying your hair in a braid or twist makes the hair silky soft... :yep:

I moisturize with my carrot oil cream and seal with my avocado butter :)

For me, sealing with oil while still wet. And then like others have said, drying it twists

:yep::yep::yep::yep:

I love using a combination of aubrey organics white camellia (for slip) and aubrey organics honey suckle rose (for moisture and the lovely smell) to moisturize my hair after washing. Then I seal with a light layer of virgin coconut oil (which never fails to make my hair soft) and my hair not only air dries soft, but it's super shiny and I only have to moisturize minimally until my next wash (sometimes, depending on how my hair is behaving, all I have to do is spray it with some water in the days until my next wash and it still feels moisturized). While it's drying take my octopus clamp (I call it that because it's one of those bun clamps that wraps all the way around ) and bun my hair up and let it air-dry until it's about 80% dry, then I let it loose and let it dry like that the rest of the way.

I NEVER use shampoo I alway cowash, I don't towel dry my hair AT ALL I ring it out (gently) and let it drip on a towel on my shoulders. I put (get ready for this): a dollar sized amount of coconut oil in my hair, 3 sprays of Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1, small amount (about the size of your thumbnail) of Silk Elements MegaSilk Deep Conditioner and top it with a dollar size amount of castor oil . It's a lot but I do this when I want to air dry my hair out. My hair is soft and moisturized for the entire day :yep:

Nexxus Headress weightless leave-in.....my hair is like butter afterwards! Can't keep my hands off...

Ooooh i have this in my stash....

I use some GVP paul mitchell skinny serum, aphogee leave in and coconut oil...I think the coconut oil is what makes it soft

Not too long ago I had this problem too. Someone suggested using a hair serum and oil. So I used Paul Mitchell Gloss Drops and Coconut oil and it came out really soft and shiny.

my ayurvedic tea rinses! my hair air dries great. And also ever since I started using Phytorelax Nourishing Con w/Karkade Extract ($5.99@Ross :yep: ), my hair's been air drying like a dream no matter what product i apply after(usually just vatika coconut oil)

I use a moisturizer that is light weight such as NTM and then seal with coconut oil. I just recently started mixing castor oil with my coconut oil and so far so good. I let my hair air dry about 80% in two buns clipped up then I braid in 5 plaits and once its dry its very soft.

What works for me is a leave in conditioner, currently I'm using NTM, and then sealing with a grease (DAX) or oil (coconut). I usually bun, and once dry my h air is very soft.
