I have the K-pak products and the moisturizing products. I am thinking about using them "exclusively", just rotating between k-pak and moisture each time I shampoo. But, I am wondering since they all contain proteins in them, will that be too much? I don't want to overload my hair with proteins. Would this be a bad idea?

I have many of the Joico products, but am not using them "exclusively" Do you have the Intense Hydrator and/or the Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm/Lotion?

Can you please list the products you currently have and are planning to use? Thanks

I dont think those would be bad I used them pre baids and they worked fine. Just use somethign moisturizing for your cowash or after u wash with the Kpak

Just because a product contains protein doesn't make it a protein product. The joico moisture line is not protein intensive. The protein that is in it is to help your hair be able to hold the moisture. It isn't enough in it to do reconstructing as a protein treatment would. The kpak intensive hydrator and the kpak daily care conditioner for example are also very moisturizing. You don't need to use anything else after them at all. The kpak line as a whole has a higher percentage of protein in it but it doesn't make everything in the line a protein treatment.

Also, with joico products, you don't need to leave them on long in order to see benefits. Don't leave on the reconstructor for 20 minutes for example...there is a reason why it says 3-5 minutes. Same with the rest of the line. Don't go overboard in extending usage time or else you can and will have unpredicatable results.

What products are you planning on using too? I have all of each line so let me know what you are planning on using.

^^ What Gym said! I use the K- Pak line EVERY Monday and the Moisture Recovery line every Wed and Fri. My hair just gets better and better.

OP: I would still be interested in "What Products" you are attempting to use exclusively? Especially since you said they all contain protein?

Yes, I have both of those products plus the K-Pak shampoo, conditioner and the deep reconstructer. I have the Moisture Recovery Shampoo and conditioner.

Thanks this is good information.

Okay, with the kpak line, use the shampoo and the conditioner for a couple of minutes. Next wash try the moisture line. With the reconstructor, maybe try it once every 2 weeks and follow it with a little moisture recovery conditioner if you feel that your hair needs it. Tailor the reconstructor scheldule as you need to. If you feel that every 2 weeks is too much, just keep scaling it back until you find your balance.

The last time I used Kpak I followed up with the moisture recovery and results were lovely. I got the reconstructor and the Intense Hydrator and the intense hydrator seems to be mostly protein.

I used that line exclusively a few years ago and never had a problem. My hair was relaxed and i was washing it once every 2 weeks. I used the k pak shampoo, reconstructor mixed with something moisturizing, the leave in, the smoothing balm, and the hair serum. All of the products contain protein but not enough to notice a difference (besides the reconstructor and the leave in) in my hair. The protein is too far down the list to have any effect on me.

*keep in mind i was relaxed so my hair probably needed the protein to function, Im not protein sensitive, and even as a natural my hair still likes protein.*
