Very off-topic, but do any of you live in South Carolina? My family is involved in a Nigerian organization and there's a convention every other year. This year it's in South Carolina. It's open to any and everyone but just mentioning it

My parents are Yoruba. The longest i've been is about armpit (thanks to this forum). But, I recently did the BC and am all natural and neck length.

Nerfertiti, that's what I meant. See, until recently, that wasn't my definition of carb based either. I would have just called it a balanced diet. But from what I've been learning recently, a lot of the simple carbs do in fact convert quickly into sugar and are not healthy to be consumed in the proportions some of us seem to eat them. It's good to know gari (usually pronounced "kari" in Oron) is a complex carb... mainly fiber or something, right? Damn... we had that thing almost every afternoon with soup except Sundays when we ate Pounded yam and peppersoup with chicken.... Mmmm....

Oh, by the way, people, what's with calling pounded yam "fufu"? In Nigeria they were very different things, but now everyone seems to call anything white fufu.

The bolded annoys the heck out of me. I don't know why they do it.

My Dad is Nigerian-Beninoise. My grandad from Ijebu had coarse dry 4b hair and my grand mum from Benin had 3c fine hair. In my Dad's generation of relatives they basically kept their hair short in afros. With my female cousin's on Dad's side I don't see anything past neck length.

My hair though is more like my Mum's side of the family. My hair is 3a,4a, 4b fine, dense with a lot of volume.

I've told her to forgeddit. Aint Happening anytime soon!
She was soo unamused! Telling me i dont respect her and stuff...lol, i just let her complain then dutifully said bye and dropped the phone.

My elder sis got her marriage arranged!!
Mum wasnt even going to consider waiting for cupid to do his thing!

With 4a/4b hair my hairs brownish black and fine, but my sister has 4a/b really thick long hair its been bsl but mines now at the longest its ever been since lhcf. thanks guys

I will absolutely let you know It's supposed to be late next year according to her (...and no, I won't mind lol).

I have been back twice since I left (I was around 2, my parents brought me back after having me in the States...still don't know how they pulled that off). I was supposed to go back in Feburary for my grandmother funeral...but plans fell through.
