Try it girl! I love Peak powdered milk, peanuts, dried/ smoked fish (this doesn't go into the mix) or moimoi, and sugar to taste just like your regular breakfast cereal only difference is this is noon time cereal <hehehe>

Naaaahhhh...I decline. I never did care for the taste of powder milk anyways. It has to come straight from the cows ****.

Besides I barely drink milk as it is...

Haha o.k. all this talk about gari is hilarious. My personal preference is gari with sugar, a huge heaped teaspoon of powdered milk and THEN a teaspoon of cocoa powder. Yum!

I've just seen this thread!
I am Nigerian
I have a somewhat unusual mix.. my mum is half Rivers and half Calabar, and my dad is half Igbo half Yoruba :drunk:

Hi fellow Nija ladies!

Nigerian whoop whoop!!
Akwa Ibom state checking in! I live in NY right now though
ETA I'm 4a relaxed on the fence about transitioning. My hair has always been between ear length and shoulder length and after a setback last year I'm on my way to APL
My mom's hair is 4a as well and she is also relaxed but she has been dying her hair for years to get rid of greys and I'm sure that has affected her retention

i'm full nigerian 3c 4a hair and in nigeria i was natural and i had MBL hair. Now, I'm grazing APL and transitioned back to natural after years of relaxers. I actually do know a couple with MBL hair and my friend's grandmother, also nigerian is WL or I think tailbone. my grandma has BSL before she cut it a few years ago.

Im Nigerian, My hair is just past shoulder lenght stretched. My mum is 4a/b relaxed Apl and her mother was natural 3b/3c waist lenght. We are all Yoruba. My hair was Apl natural but got destroyed by relaxers so I chopped it all off february last year.
Hey sisters!

Im Half Nigerian and I'm about NL....My daddy is IGBO.....My hair was about APL stretched when natural......

full Nigerian (Igbo). I am transitioning to natural right now. 3C/4A texture. touching APL which an ultimate goal of full, natural MBL!.

ETA: and my hair is quite (as in VERY thick)

Every Nigerian I ever met has been a doctor.Quite a few come to Trinidad(where I am from) to work.I have met about 10.All doctors.Weird eh?Just seems like medicine is a very popular profession there.Or may I am just stereotyping..lol

Hi Katie,

My friend that we went to med school together in Ireland, says the same thing and she is from trinidad, her family doctor is a nigerian by the way.
I think that the reason you see a lot of doctors there is because there is good job opportunity for them over there.

Among my 7 friends that we went to college together only 2 of us did medicine others were accountant, physio, law. I think it varies quite a lot, it just hapens to be a good job in trinidad. I think.

Back to questions, I am nigerian yoruba to be precise and I am mainly 4a (spring tight coil with about 70% shrinkage), with 4b patches at side and 3c in the back.

I have really really thick hair, and jet black, my hair laughs at henna.
When in Nigeria I have always had btw APL and BSL, with UK and Irish hard water and dry weather, growing past shoulder was difficult.
I think the traits are just genetics, my hair is jet black and thick so his my dad, son and one of my brothers. My dad and my son cut their hair every month. My brother has a shrunken fro at moment.

My mum (yoruba as well) has fine brown hair, and I have never seen it below shoulder length, my sister has similar hair as my mum although very dark skin (mum is light skinned), she protective style a lot and has APL hair.

I love this thread and reading about the diversity of hair textures. :yep:

I was born here but my parents are both Igbo, from villages surrounding Owerri. I am 4B with a touch of 4A at the crown; I am shoulder-length. My youngest sister is definitely 4A all around and my other sister is about 4A/4B, with more 4A than 4B.

I guess I can't keep avoiding this thread. You naijas are everywhere:lachen::lachen:. Naija babe in da house born and bred:grin:. Igbo kwezuenu!!!! Omo yoruba bawo ni?

My hair took a sharp dip when I came here. I used to be between SL and APL. I had to cut back to NL.

Now I'm back to APL inching towards BSL whoohoo.

Hi Eka:wave:

Checking in my dad is Yoruba (Ijebu-Ode), his mother is from Benin though. And I won't get started on my mother's side.

Best,
Almond Eyes

I'm Nigerian- Dad's yoruba (from ijebu-ode as well) and mom's from Edo state. Not completely sure about my hair texture- I've been relaxed for so long. I'm transitioning and my hair looks like it's in the 4s. Much softer than I thought it would be and looser in the back. Hi to all my Nigerian sisters.

Hi...my mother is from Edo State (Benin City) and my father is from Delta State (Oghara/Warri). I'm natural, apl when stretched with 4a/4b hair.

My dad and his siblings have very short and coarse 4b hair. The siblings did not at all get their hair from their Mum who God knows her exact origins because she has an European first and surname and was high yellow from Benin. She came to Nigeria as a teenager. I on the other hand have plenty fine textured hair that is a mix of 4a and 3C but it shrinks up to about one inch as soon as it hits water or humidity.

Best,

Good morning all, another naija checking in - both parents are Yoruba from Ijebu-Igbo. I've been natural for almost 6 years now with a 4a/b texture.

I'm Nigerian. My hair is fine 4a/4b, but I have lots of it. It's quite soft, actually and retains moisture readily. I keep it natural and braided, because it is very fragile no matter how gentle I am. I found that braids have helped me retain length, and I also don't have as many split ends and knots. My sister, on the other hand has tough, thick hair and loads of it. She's natural too, and her hair is absolutely lovely!

Wow, I knew there were some but not this many! I was born in Lagos. My dad is from Ondo, my mom is from Calabar. Nice to see us hear repping :) Go Naijas!

ETA: I'm 4A textured. Some 3C in the nape.

I agree, didn't think we were this many on this board. What was I thinking, there are Nigerians everywhere, lol

Another Nigerian in the house... my father is Igbo. My hair texture is 4a with 4b spots. I think hair texture has a lot to do with genetics and probably dietary factors. My hair is moderately thick but my sister's hair has always been REALLY thick. It's beautiful!
Nice to see all the Nigerians on the site though.
