Igbo gal checking in. My mom's from Delta but was born and raised in Lagos. My dad's from Anambra.

4b, I may have some 4a, I'm still not sure. Everytime I stretch I see something different haha. APL here.

Very off-topic, but do any of you live in South Carolina? My family is involved in a Nigerian organization and there's a convention every other year. This year it's in South Carolina. It's open to any and everyone but just mentioning it :P

hi i'm nigerian also.

My parents are both from Edo State. My hair is thick and is a combination of 4b/4a hair. I'm currently BSL trying to get to MBL. Wow I didn't realize there were so many Nigerians on this site. :yep:

I'm Nigerian!!!! Shout out to my naija peeps! I was thinking of starting a thread like this. Didn't know that there was one started so long ago. I have 4a/b with bits of 3c hair. My parents are Yoruba. The longest i've been is about armpit (thanks to this forum). But, I recently did the BC and am all natural and neck length.

Fellow Naija checking in!!

Glad to see so many sister's on the site.

4a/4b mainly 4b. Longest hair has been thanks to Long hair care, I now have great habits

Hey all!

I'm nigerian as well. Well, I'm half. My mom is american and my dad is yoruba. I am originally from Texas but I go to school up here in Jersey. I think my hair is 4-something but I'm not entirely sure.

Right now I'm transitioning. I noticed that my hair is not as thick (or long) as it once was. To me there is nothing prettier than long, thick, jet black hair so I'm trying to get that back!

I'm glad to see there are so many naija girls on the board!!

Jess

Signing in! My Parents are yoruba---Dad from Ekiti State--Mother from Abeokuta. :yep: Working my way to healthy lush hair!

ETA: Dang....we're rolling kinda deep on this board!

ETAA: I have 4a/b textured hair. I have very thick relaxed hair :yep: Longest length I've ever had is my current length which is a little past MBL (thanks to LHCF!!)

Here 9ja babe here too. Ogun state, Abeokuta.
Mehn my hair is as thick as bolts. But i love it. can't wait for it to grow out really long like when I was little and my Iya Ibeji used to do my hair. Way to rep Green, white, green.

Nerfertiti, that's what I meant. See, until recently, that wasn't my definition of carb based either. I would have just called it a balanced diet. But from what I've been learning recently, a lot of the simple carbs do in fact convert quickly into sugar and are not healthy to be consumed in the proportions some of us seem to eat them. It's good to know gari (usually pronounced "kari" in Oron) is a complex carb... mainly fiber or something, right? Damn... we had that thing almost every afternoon with soup except Sundays when we ate Pounded yam and peppersoup with chicken.... Mmmm....

Oh, by the way, people, what's with calling pounded yam "fufu"? In Nigeria they were very different things, but now everyone seems to call anything white fufu.

The bolded annoys the heck out of me. I don't know why they do it.

Naija here too. Anambra state. It's nice to see people from the home country on here. Happy Healthy Hair Growing Ladies :)

I'm Nigerian too... I'm Yoruba (both parents are). Lived in Nigeria till I was 17 and I've been in the U.K. since then. I am VERY Nigerian, lol... my accent is not going anywhere.

I am transitioning to natural and loving my hair :-) Not really sure about my hair type...

Fotki's in siggy.

My Dad is Nigerian-Beninoise. My grandad from Ijebu had coarse dry 4b hair and my grand mum from Benin had 3c fine hair. In my Dad's generation of relatives they basically kept their hair short in afros. With my female cousin's on Dad's side I don't see anything past neck length.

My hair though is more like my Mum's side of the family. My hair is 3a,4a, 4b fine, dense with a lot of volume.

Best,
Almond Eyes

O M GOsh!!

You are Igbo?!
Kedu?
Your hair is amazing. This thread has laid to rest any sneaky negative thoughts i've had about 'mixed' people having an advantage with hair length!!!

Both my parents are from Enugu. I lived in Abuja till in my teens.
Now i live in London.

Have you been to Nigeria before?

I will absolutely let you know :yep: It's supposed to be late next year according to her (...and no, I won't mind lol).

I have been back twice since I left (I was around 2, my parents brought me back after having me in the States...still don't know how they pulled that off). I was supposed to go back in Feburary for my grandmother funeral...but plans fell through.

Biko ignore her!

:lachen: I tune out my mum too! You can only ignore so much though!

I told her last week that I was NEVER getting married...she was sooo mad, darn near had a heartattack! She made me promise never to say that again

My father tried to arrange my marriage. I was 22 and the man was a 32 year old minister in Michigan *shudders*

Are there pics of your wedding?
