Just curious to know if it is possible to have healthy long hair without trimming. Please let me know if you are one of the lucky ones.

I didn’t trim during the first year of my hair journey (now going on the 2nd). I didn’t necessarily have healthy ends, but I never exposed them anyway; I was always doing some sort of protective stilling, and I would only flat iron to check my length. The idea was to retain length and NOT wear my hair out, but as soon as I started wearing my hair down (straight) I started trimming/dusting again. I think the curly girls can get away with not trimming but straight hair looks better with healthy full ends...
I certainly think it's possible if you take care of your hair well then you should be able to have healthy ends that don't really need trimming, thus helping you retain length and have long hair.
Trimming doesn't make your hair grow but not trimming can cause problems (like tangles, large knots) if your ends are damaged/split/knotted.
I don't think FLowerhair trims very often and she has super long hair.

Teri from biracialhair.org does not trim and she has curly tailbone length. I have been tempted to try her conditioning method by smoothing all my curls would take sooo much time lol. (just lazy) IMO, if you take good care of ends by conditioning/sealing and not wearing hair out as much as possible I think you can not have to trim. If you do wear hair out, I think the key is to use products that smooth and protect the cuticle from the elements and manipulation.
I'm still trying to find away to protect ends without trimming. I was looking for a natural solution to cones. But on biracialhair.org she lists a lot of products that help hair and cones are recommended. I might reconsider them, Especially since I have had success with CHI Silk Infusion. When I get splits cut off, I feel good I'm getting rid of damaged hair. On the other hand, a part of me dies because I feel I could have took better care and retained it![]()
i can't do it. i hit APL and i haaaaad to trim, and i am a curly girl. it's got to have something to do with my detangling or frequent use of the WNG, so without those i would probably be fine.
Nichole21, how long did it take u to go from NL to WL without trimming? Did u "wash-n-go" bun the whole time? Did u use other protective styles? Sorry so many questions but inquiring minds want to know! LOL!
