Still waiting...

Wonder why she/you posted elsewhere, today/yesterday, and left us hanging in this thread. Even if it's not as bad as she/you initially thought...no big deal...happens to the best of us! Just let us know something, please.

I don't understand. Please explain...

I've been busy, ladies. I'm about to post in a little while. I have to get everything ready first. Hold on.

ETA - Yall, i just cracked myself the heck up typing that.

I set out this year to learn how to keep my hair knot and tangle-free. After washing my straightened and trimmed and knot and tangle-free Too Groovy hair, I started out using Pinkskates' tension blowdry method to try to keep my hair that way. It worked well, but I still couldn't get my ends straight, and curly ends equal knots, tangles, and splits. I used this method for several washes, and then I got the idea to use the Denman brush a couple months ago. My ends got straight, but there was quite a bit of hair on my sink when I finished. I had been brush from the roots to the ends.

The next time I did my hair, I need to take my law school pictures. I wanted to flatiron, so I definitely needed the ends to be straight. I experimented with the Denman brush again. I started from the ends first, and it worked so well that I started a thread about it and how my hair woes were over from now on. My hair turned out like this:

The only problem I had was that I needed a trim. Once my hair was straight, I saw several single-strand knots and split ends. I didn't to jack my hair up by trying to cut something in the back of my head that I could not see, so I just left it alone for a while. After exams I went home for about a week, and at the end of the week, I decided that I would go to Too Groovy to have my hair trimmed, since specialize in natual hair and are very professional with their techniques. Plus, my hair usually turns out gorgeous every time.

January trim from Too Groovy
Anyway, I feel so proud of my blow dry method that leaves 99.9% of the hair in my head that I made my first little Youtube video for you guys to see. This was the day before I went home: Anyway, yeah, I needed a trim, so I called and asked for the girl who did my hair last time. She didn't work on Mondays. I asked who else was available. Ayana, Akila, and Sheena were. I didn't want Akila, because I read zzirving's review that she trimmed her hair even though she asked her not to. I chose Ayana, because I heard she was good. Also, when I got my sister an appointment with her last year, she did a good job. Plus, she didn't charge my sister for the hydration, because my sister didn't know what it was when she asked.

So, I went to Ayana. My hair turned out silky and straight as usual. She asked if I wanted a trim, and of course that's what I went there for. When I was done, I paid $100 and went to the restroom, because I was on my way back to school. I looked in the mirror, and it seemed like one side was shorter than the other. I couldn't really tell, though, because it was curled on the ends.

My first stop was in Alabama. My hair looked good in the glass windows of the convenience store, so I decided to take some pictures.

When I got to the hotel, I tried to take pictures of the length. Still not completely sure what was going on.

I wrapped it before bed, and didn't unwrap it until Wednesday before school. When I got to school, I posted this thread.

Anyway, I don't know what the heck to call this. I didn't do it myself, because I can't see in the back of my head, but for some reason I think even Stevie Wonder would have done a better job than this. Is it a cut? A trim? A cut/trim? I feel like Bobby Brown in the Don't Be Cruel video! I know hair grows back. It always does, but I wanted to be MBL by my birthday and WSL by graduation. I just don't see how a professional stylist at in my opinion one of the best salons in Atlanta can turn a simple trim into this! Now, I'm still stuck with the problem of needing a trim. I don't think I trust anyone else to do it either.

I'm posting this, because a lot of us naturals go to Too Groovy or want to go to Too Groovy as evidenced in that long behind thread that we contribute to: Watch out for this stylist!

It;s obviously shorter on one side, but the frizz can be making that one side seem even more short.

:look:....

Looks like a little humidity got to it to me.. not that she cut it unevenly.. hmm.. can't decipher a lot from the pics... Maybe it is

It wasn't an utter travesty (you know as a third party)..

So whew.. can the stylists come back out and play? :lachen:

Honestly MissJ i can't quite tell. It does look uneven but i'm wondering if your hair napped up just a smidge and your hair kind up drew up a little more on one side?

How often do you straighten your hair? Maybe on the next straightening day you'll be able to see it more clearly since it will be smoother?

If it truly is cut uneven i think you are better off cutting just a SMIDGE on your own and only on the left side. it's not too bad that you can't correct it. Again, only A SMIDGE!!!!!

uh uh.:nono:

Girl, I am too sorry. Your hair looks healthy though.

Are you going to call and complain? I think they need to at least give you a complimentary poo dc/hydration.

It is clearly uneven. My hair was recently cut uneven too. But I'm not worrying about it because my hair is always in a bun. Do you bun often? If yo do, just let the oter side catch up. Or just cut one side to make it even.

No, it's definitely shorter on one side than the other. Humidity didn't do that. Scissors did. I'm wearing my hair in a ponytail for the time being.

It is definitely uneven. My hair has not "napped back up." I've had my hair straightened 4 times since January and never let it go "nappy" since January. It's always at least blown out.

Je Ne Sais Quoi, I don't know if I trust myself to cut it. :(

I am so sorry this happened to you hon, to me it is obviously shorter on one side. I am very picky about my hair being even, and I too wouldn't wanna walk around looking like that.

(((((hugs)))))

I just wonder how stylists (not all of them of course) cut your hair uneven? I can kind of understand intricate designer cuts and layers but you can't trim straight across? It's not just natural either as I know it is harder to trim but I've had stylist cut my hair uneven and I'm relaxed and my hair is bone straight at the bottom.

It looks like she parted your hair down the middle then took the left side and cut it and then pinned it up and took the right side and cut it.

It will be easy to fix but I expected more from Too Groovy. Thanks for the report OP.

I am sorry about the unfortunate trim. It looks obviously uneven - can't believe she let you out of the salon like that.

^She didn't part it when she cut it. It was all down and very straight at the time. She even told me to sit up straight so that she could get it even. I've never had an experience like that at Too Groovy.

Whoa, unless the humidity was jumping on one side of ur head which I highly doubt thats clearly uneven, no bueno.

That's a shame...yeah, it's uneven. :nono: Maybe you could trim a little off the longer side to even it up. I know you said you didn't trust yourself to do this, but just snip a tiny bit at a time (then look at it in the mirror after each snip) until you get it even.

Sorry this happened to you.

OP, I suggest you put a link to this thread in the Salon Review forum for easy reference.

I wasn't using "nap up" in a derogatory way so i'm hoping you didn't take it that way. I just meant "back to it's kinky state/no longer smooth and straight" like being frizzy or the roots have sweat out, etc.

Ok, if you don't trust yourself to trim it then leave it be. I'm wondering if you can call over to the shop, let them know that your hair is not even due to a stylist error then see if your normal person can do it at no charge of course. Do you feel comfortable with this as an option? I know you must be very frustrated!!

I've read threads here about ladies trimming their own hair by putting it in sections or pony tails and I know Lauren450 (I think she's southernlady now or something like that) has a tutorial in her fotki about cutting layers into her own hair. I know you don't want layers, but maybe the technique could help you even up your hair.

ITA. make them fix it! :yep:

It definitely looks uneven. I'd call them and let them know what happened. They should be more than willing to correct the problem. Good luck!
