Hello Ladies. I have been really considering becoming a Natrual..What product's work best for you while transistioning ?

Leave in-
Conditioner-
Shampoo-
Moisturizer-
oil-

I would like to do all my research b4 actually deciding to go Natrual. So I figured wat better place than to ask you Ladies!
Thank You in Advanced.

Do a search for "transitioning" or "transitioner". You'll get a lot of information. Also you should check the transistioner's support threads (there's one from each year I think). And, the stretchers support threads because those are probably pretty helpful as well.

The products that work for everyone else are probably going to be different than what work for you. You'll probably have a lot of trial and error but those threads should help you out.

Can you tell us a little more about your hair first?
What texture are you?
What Length?
Do you have any issues with your hair currently?
Do you have damage?
How long do you intend to transition before you chop?
What products do you currently use and like?

It's hard to make suggestions for transitioning hair, just like relaxed or natural hair. For instance, a lot of transitioners/naturals swear by shea butter but it does absolutely nothing for me.

If you're planning on transitioning long term, the demarcation line is going to be a big concern for you.

I agree that we need more info about your hair type, but I love using a spritz made with aloe vera juice and vegetable glycerine to help keep my hair strong and moist. :yep:

There is a TON of info on the board though- so even just a quick search would give you a lot of ideas. I think transitioning is more about technique than product.

The link I posted- if you go to my fotki under New growth. I hope you can tell from my picture of what my hair texture is. I'm just kinda tired of the relaxed state. I feel like my hair will thrive more if I'm completly natrual.

Okay so the first pict in my attch is in Oct 08, I had went to a salon and had someone Flat iron my hair. The 2nd was a really bad hair day and looks very damaged. In the 2nd one- that was taken in Jan 09.

Help???

It really depends on your hair and what works for you....

I really cant pin point what products i used during my entire transition...

I did use the cheap conditioners and did alot of conditioner washing during my transitioning. I didnt use much shampoos. When i did start using(which was more after i finished transitioning) shampoos and even now i use alot of moisturizing shampoos.

I think Soliel185 put it best when she said transitioning is more about technique than product.

Some of the best pieces of advice I received about products were:

Don't run out and buy what everyone suggests... at least not in the beginning. I'm not sure when or if you plan on chopping (I'm not) but since you're still mostly relaxed, keep using what you're using until your natural hair starts telling you it's time to change... trust me, you'll know. (I'm not wearing weaves, wigs or braids either)

If you do want to try new things, do them one or two products at a time. If you try everyone's holy grail, you won't be able to tell what worked and what didn't.

You are doing the right thing by asking and researching early in your process.

ditto. imo, save yourself the stress and braid/weave it up for several months at a time :yep:

I agree 100% with tada1. I have been weaving it up pretty much from day 1 that I decided to transition. I'm currently 13 months post with no itch to BC or texlax again. Products are NOT as important as learning the proper technique when handing your hair. Good Luck on the new journey!
