How are you doing? Did you make any changes? What did you learn? Any new styles? Or are you still grinding out the same reliable regimen...same 'ole, same 'ole?

Check in chicas!

Hey LadyEsquire!

I learned that winter is the devil on my hair. I had to deal with some bad dryness.

I dont have any length progress because I cut off about 2 1/2 inches.

My goal for this year was just to grow back my sides. They've been my problem area for a while now. They are broke off so badly. I stopped perming them until they get to a decent length. And they are growing very slowly but surely.

I pretty much have the same regimen.

How's your hair doing?

Struggling! I've been trying to find a regimen that works, as well as products that work. My progress in the various challenges has been iffy, but I think I'm on the right track. I've spent much of the last 3 months in twists & twist-outs. I "dusted" 1/2 inch the other night, so that was a month's progress gone, but what can you do. :ohwell: I've had length & health progress though, and that's always good. Lots of trial and error though, and feeling overwhelmed & discouraged at times.

There are a few bandwagons I jumped on that I'm coming off, especially for the 2nd quarter. I think my hair will fare a lot better in the 2nd quarter than it did this quarter. I plan on being in braids for April, and half of May. I'm just ready for winter to end! This has been an especially brutally winter and my dryness is off the scales. :nono:

OMG..I started bunning since finding LHCF. I havent did that since 98! I think my hair has grown a little bit but Im not quite sure and I have been maintaining my moisture/protein balance. No regimen as of yet but Im convinced I will have one soon so I can continue on my healthy hair journey

I'm really not sure because I'm not doing length checks until the second quarter of 09. I really hope I'm close to APL by June!

Hey, hun! :hiya: Loca, glad to hear that the "no perming the sides" regimen is working. Nursing breakage takes a great deal of patience. Keep up with your regimen, and try steam treatments to combat dryness. And just enjoy the hair the best you can while it grows.

Shan, sorry to hear that you're struggling. Don't view dusting as lost length, rather as maintenance to healthy hair. Health trumps length.

The bandwagons, oh boy, they can be a blessing and a curse. If you jump on every one, you lose focus. Try to do a few steam treatments, they help with the dryness.

Bunning could be a god-send, if used properly (you know, not too tightly)...and if you can find cute styles to cure boredom.

I've made some pretty good progress despite the fact that I lost an inch and a half.. it's alot thicker and healthier... I also have been trying the low manipulation thing and that seems to be helping

I've made some great progress. My longest layer is APL and I know for a fact now that my hair grows much faster in the winter...:yep:

I don't think it went so well. I am having severe post partum shedding. Hair appears to be coming out in clumps and I have breakage everywhere.:spinning: But I'm DCing, taking vitamins, and keeping the manipulation very low. I hope things get better soon.

Health-wise, you're doing ok though?

Low-mani works great especially when you're trying to get past the Shoulder Length milestone.

WOW! I remember clearly when you big-chopped! That is some damn-fast progress. I love the thickness too!

Same ol same ol basically. Its growing like weeds again.I think I should be full wsl by the time summer is over give or take a few inches after I get a blunt trim.

AH! The CLUMPS?
BIG SIGH!
BIG HUG! :bighug:

The postpartum shedding. :nono: I feel your pain. Its a waiting game. I am also DCing, popping vits, and doing a low-mani regimen. I'm justing waiting it out. Can't wait for it to be over.

Some ladies suggested to do a tea rinse, which I've yet to try. I will and I'll report back.

Music to my ears. Congrats. Can't wait to join that club.

Pretty good. My hair survived the first trimester of pregnancy (when I was too lazy to protect at night, moisturize, etc.) Now I am barely sraping the top of my brastrap when stretched so I am excited. I'm thinking about doing the second session of LHCF bootcamp to move things along so I can be at the bottom of brastrap by June!

I didn't really have any hair goals laid out. I was hoping to APL by August, and I still have a chance to make it, I think. I gave myself a good trim 3 weeks ago, and I can tell my hair is close to being my pre-trim length, so I guess that makes me a month behind all of my goals.

I discovered that my hair loves baggying and this DC I made (I basically throw everything I own into it). I am trying to do scalp massages as often as I can. I just have to be careful not to rub my hair while doing it. If I do, my hair shrinks up weird.

Not to well. I've had some set backs. Trying to redo my regi and find what works for me and my hair and stop buying everything under the sun. I also need to stop being lazy and actually get on a routine with doing my hair regularly. I think once spring rolls around I think I will be ok.

I started in the wintertime, so it's been hard! I wear a wool coat for starters. It's been cold, then hot in my apartment, and always dry. I'm constantly adding moisture to the air to keep my hair and skin moist.

I have found the products that works for me and it's only been a little over 4 months, so that's a good thing. Now I'm wondering if the winter products will work for the warm seasons too?

Hmmm,

let's see:

I've incorporated some Ayurveda, roller setting, maintaining protein/moisture balance, tea rinsing, oil rinsing, making my own oil infusions, raw egg shakes, and chlorella. I feel like a Newbie because this is the first time since joining the forum that I've actually set goals and actively sought out solutions for the hair challenges I'd been having.

The verdict:

So far, so good! My first goal of 2009 was to hit SL by June. It is March and I am grazing SL now. My second goal is BSL by December. Ambitious? Maybe...but I'm hopeful.

So far so good. I had a bit of a scare in Dec but manage to resolve the problem by Jan. I cut a total of 1.5 inches in Jan and fixed the protein/moisture problems ( thanks Evashair). My hair grew 2 inches since my last touch-up in Dec. I started using ayurvedic products and I LOOOOVE them. I also started using butters:lick:. I plan to continue my stretch until July 1 and hope to gain another 2 inches:yep:.

Decent progress so far I'm still one of the slowest growers ever to be a member of LHCF , but I do see some progress and will be in the shadow of reaching my goal( full Apl) by the end of next quarter. This quarter I'm just praying for retention and that my post pregnancy shedding will begin and end without major loss.

I felt like my hair wasn't growing for awhile but I kept up with my reggie and then *bang* I was washing one day and I could definitely tell there was more hair. My hair is currently the longest and healthiest it has ever been (I can stretch it across my armpit and I think I am set to be undeniably APL by May).

I regained my moisture/protein balance with caramel treatments and I seriously simplified my reggie. I think that I am on the right path now and I am looking forward to trying a keratin straightener and doing my first official length check in May!

well my hair is still growing nicely and its much stronger. i know what works for my hair and what doesnt work. i did get a small trim friday so im back to 2 inches under apl but my hair is growing so nicely that im not mad.

Can't complain...I got almost 2inches of ng in 10wks...I will update this weekend for my 2yr hair anniversary with details :yep:

Sof far, so good. I have not change any part of my regi, except I finally went to the salon to get a trim. She had to remove a good inch. I am not complaining.... first trim since I shave if off over a year ago. My goal for this year is APL (Maybe a little over-ambitious), I am not SL yet. But I think I will be happy as long as I don't have another major setbacks.

well,

i snipped off some because i had neglected my hair in 2008. i just became really lazy with my hair after getting my job last year.

i decided to go back to protective styles, super low manipulation and hidden ends.

hopefully i'll start to see great improvements

so-so. i finally broke out the scissors, which i desperately needed to do, and a month later my ends were messed up again. i know that at least part of it was due to the frequent detangling associated with my wash n gos, so i started twisting it up under wigs and then i wore it straight for 2-3 weeks while i worked up the endurance for a marathon braiding session. right now, i'm just trying to decide what i will do down the road after the twists come out, cause i definitely thought i would be APL by now. between what I trimmed and what probably was breaking off unbeknown to me, i would have been. maybe i will texlax...don't know yet. on the plus side...i'm still almost APL so i proved that my hair CAN grow past SL.

I think I'm on track so far, although I had a few scares due to air drying. I'm getting a relaxer next week, and then I'll be able to better assess my progress. I haven't really done anything differently, just sticking to the basics.

I haven't done so well. I was supposed to be in protective styles this year and I may have spent a total of 15 days with my ends protected. My hair doesn't seem to be suffering but I'm positive protective styles will help me retain more.

Going forward, I'm planning to eat healthier, increase my exercise, drink more water, and protect my hair. I'm also trying to figure out a way to condition twice a week. I'm hoping that by this time next year I'll have seen some real progress.

I am very happy.

I'm at my goal length, and I'm getting more acquainted with my natural hair texture...which leads me to my problem. The only thing bugging me out right now is deciding if I should start transitioning now instead of next year like I planned. lol.
