Haha, that's just what I was about to type. "and who is david banner?" this dude means nothing to me, i thought it was The Hulk for a second but then i realized that guy's first name is Bruce. :lachen: Might as well be "random dude says X"
:lachen::lachen:I think the hulk is David Banner as well.

This black woman says that David Banner should shut the :censored: up and worry about what's on his head.

You are allowed to have your own ideas. However, you should not expect everyone to be what you think they should be. Who the hell are you? Are you so stupid that you actually believe that your way of thinking about an issue applies to everyone? Especially when the idiot has the nerve to contradict himself on top of it.

And that's all I have to say about that one...

He's full of it, how many of his videos feature straight up natural chicks? How can u knock a relaxer when u only have silky smooth hair all over ur videos? These fools talk too much, lol

AMEN, if he so against perms, why haven't we seen women with natural hair in his videos?

His statement is ignorant and stupid.

lol, lol, lol. But since he is a man its okay what he does with his hair. Scurl and all. He was probably just talking and rambling not realizing it would be analyzed.

I think this might be the first time I've ever agreed with a rapper in my whole life:blush::look:.

Is this the same David Banner who has a video with like 20 black women in a gym, on bikes and treadmills with silky straight hair and weaves? While singing things like "Work that **** Come girl..."

And someone is actually concerned about what he has to say? Really?

Thats interesting.

So basically David Banner thinks that because I relax my hair I hate myself?

No.

He said relaxing specifically because you want to get a decent job and not be considered a threat by your bosses is an example of black women lacking self love and an instance of black-on-black crime.

So, then relaxing your hair in order to get hired as a doowop girl in one of his lame videos would be him perpetuating that right?

ok thanks for the clarification. So basically if i'm relaxing just because I like how my hair looks when it's relaxed is ok then?

I'm sure. He may not see that though...you know the whole "plank in your own eye" situation someone already mentioned.

I don't know.

Who is he? I haven't read this thread, and I'm sure it's already been answered, but I'm just making a point...unless he wants to come to my house, comb and style my hair everyday (for free:grin:), his opinion is irrelevant to me. :spinning:

He probably me a couple of chicks with natural curly hair and thought that's how all our hair is....We can get perms if we want!!! We can be natural if we want!!! Why can't our men just shut the *bleep* up and love ou for who we are....

S-curl or not. I could care less what he has in his head and he needs to mind his own business about what people put in theirs. I don't recall asking him for the money for my last touch up.

Even though it was poorly said, I get the gist of what he is trying to say. He is equating relaxers with AA women self hate. He was attempting to respond to someone else's claim that they straighten their hair for professionalism and such. I know people who still think they need to do it for that reason or to be accepted by the y.t.'s too. I think he is really trying to say those women that they need to have more courage to be themselves and not relax for that reason alone.

Also, I remember him saying in another interview that when he does positive music, it doesn't sell. I think he is still in the hustle mode and cannot truely afford (he doesn't have a huge fan base) to let his true voice be heard yet. It took him a long time to get where he is and he said he puts out what the people want/willing to buy, not necessarily what he wants.

I'm a little partial to him. He's from my hometown.

So how is the red bolded any different from the purple bolded? Maybe those women working in corporate offices that still require the "All-American" look are making the same decision that he made when he decided to put out trash?!

He needs to sit his butt down somewhere until he is ready to put his money where his mouth is!

He need to learn the difference between a PERM and RELAXER before he runs his big mouth. Some black men can be so fake, they have something to say when women don't relax and when they do relax ,this is what you here:

"Your Trying To Be White"
"Why You Got That Stuff In Your Hair"
"Why You Don't Love Your Natural Hair Without Chemicals"

:nono:

Since when did David Banner become a hair expert?

Sorry ladies but I have to agree with him on this one, I think the black-on-black crime thing was just his way of exaggerating to get his point across, I myself dont think that women who perm have self hate issue unless they are complaining about "how they cannot wait untill there next perm to get rid of the napps"....I mostly think black women are just so used to getting a perm since they were little kids, it was never a choice, just something that was forced upon them, and it has become a ritual.

concerning the weaved up video models....I dont think david banner has much of a choice of what ladies he puts in his videos...and I dont think he really values them much so he doesnt care, he is in it for the money...Its not like he;s gonna go home and wife one of those chicks, he proboly just wants his own women to be natural becuase its his prefferance.

But if your really think of it....it IS kind of sad that 90% of black women feel that they have to perm there hair to feel attractive... not meaning that you hate yourself becuase you do.

These men are stupid.

Why are the bolded questions stupid?

The last one, I guess it's based on an assumption, but it could be a genuine question. Especially considering some of the things people say about their new growth.

No I didnt say that was stupid, I mean some men out there are stupid. I will edit it.

Most black women don't know the difference and use both words interchangeably. :look:

DaDragonPrincess this part is not directed at you even though I quoted you above - Are y'all missing the point that he was only speaking to women who said they relax for job opportunities? How many of us on this board share (or have shared in the past) that same line of thinking? He was only responding to one sector not all black women. And he was speaking the truth. The majority of black women are still relaxed and do so because they do not see natural hair as being an acceptable option. Obviously that's not the majority of the people here on this board given our demographic but for most black women who relax, it is.

I just think he is talking out of both sides of his neck with this one. if you care so much about black on black perm crimes then as an artist, try and send out the message you speak. If he is just in it for the money and is willing to sell out on his ideas just to make a buck then how different is he than the black women in corp. America with the relaxer who supposedly hates herself??

and established artists do have a say in their videos depending on how closely they work with the vid. director. David Banner has been out for a while now. I'm sure if he wanted natural sisters in his videos it wouldn't be too hard to do.

Wow, I myself never said natural hair isn't beautiful, Natural hair is beautiful and so is relaxed hair if you take care of it.

I'm not gone to hate my hair and feel bad because i'm relaxed. :perplexed I love my hair rather its relaxed or natural, I work hard at taking care of it, and i'm not gone to let no man make me feel bad about myself because I relax my hair, and I'm speaking of men in general, not just Banner.

I don't feel bad for choosing to be relaxed ,nor do I regret it, nor do I feel low of myself from natural hair. Natural hair is BEAUTIFUL and so is my RELAXED head and other relaxed and natural women.

This is exactly what I was gonna post too. good thing i read before i did!!

Ok. But you obviously feel like there's something wrong or negative about those questions. That what I'm asking about. What's wrong with asking those specific questions?

Like someone says, the casting director casts the girls for the video. But I'm sure if he pushed, he'd could get at least 1 person in the vid that was natural. lol
This is why I don't try to look into the lives of celebrities because I almost always wind up disliking them/hating their pretentious, elitist guts. lol
I don't listen to rap much, except for Mos Def and others of his ilk. I'm a rocker. *s*
What a waste of air. Oh, I mean a college educated, former teacher waste of air. A POCKET of air has more use.
And who's this guy? Wait, wait. Do I even care enough to know(got most of my info from previously posted comments)?
IMO, I don't necessarily think he's doing naturals a favor by spouting off ill contrived thoughts. But I could be wrong. I'm not natural, so I can't really say how it would effect you all. *shrugs*
This could just be a publicity thing, anyway.
To each their own.

PS- I apologize in advance if my strong comments hurts anyone's feeling. It's completely and totally unintentional.

It would be very hard trust me.....I have not seen very many black vid models with natural hair.......most I have seen are very light skin mixed chicks( and you know we cant have a bunch of naturalhaired light chicks in a video)

To me this topic I would rather not further comment on, cause its a road to nowhere:ohwell:

I give up :nono::nono::nono:

I really was asking a genuine question because I'm interested in the answer. mainly because I ask similar questions in real life (ex: why do you relax? why don't you love your natural hair?) and I'm wondering why people would consider those inappropriate.
