Okay, I just read through like half of the original thread:spinning:. I think I was sold after Kiya's story (yeah I'm easily convinced). I just wanted to know how many are still doing it and if so have there been any long term effects. I know there were a couple of posters saying that salt is drying and strips protein from the hair.

Shout out Just Kiya!! I'm already definitely gonna try it, but I just wanted to determine how long and how often to do it.

i do it when ever i fancy. i only mix it in a separte container because i noticed when it do it in the bottle my conditioner will spilt into two layers after i let it sit for a while(a thick on on the bottom and a liquidy one on the top) it makes my hair soft

I still add salt to my condish when I DC and I really like it. I don't own any baking soda so I dont use that.

I tried it for the first time tonight. At first I was not seeing all the hoopla, then I rinsed and just applied more conditioner by itself and.... oooh la laaaaaa..softness, silkiness and easy detangling.:lick: Maybe I added too much salt or something. What other benefits are there.

I did it just the other day. When my hair is over-proteinated (ok you know what I mean) and nothing else will give me back my softness I do it. A little Motions After Shampoo Moisture plus condish in a squeeze bottle with a little salt and BAM! My hair is back to normal.

I only got to like page 20 of the original thread, but most of the ladies saw the same results as you. I think I'm gonna read more.

:lachen:Yeah I got ya!

:giggle:

I'm still using it - every other week or so, usually.

Kiya I was waiting on you to come:grin:! Tonight's the night that I do mine. I just finished telling one of my co-workers about this. She's natural and said it takes her 2 hours to detangle and set her hair. She said she would be trying it. I'll let you know how it went for her and me.

Me, me, me, me, me.....

I remember reading yours and saying that it loosened your curls, but they popped back the next day. If I know a natural who has curly hair like yours is still using it, then I'm even more convinced it'll help me.

I just added a tsp of kosher salt to my mayo based DC this past weekend. I think JK had the find of 2008! I do it whenever my ends feels rough to the touch. I like experimenting with various conditioners and getting different results.

I tried it once. I used cholesterol conditioner, and after I mixed the salt into it and put it onto my hair, it clumped and separated. I didn't like the result and haven't tried it again since then. I stick to baking soda now.
What conditioners are ya'll using when you do it?

Mine clumped, too. Many little clumps in the conditioner. I wonder why. I used V05, the peach one.

I still haven't tried it. I want to but Kiya had suggest that I don't because I wear cornrows under wigs 100% of the time. It will stay on "my wish" list though.

Okay just early results...I mixed Garnier melting condish, pantene relaxed and naturals, and HE hello hydration to make about 3/4 cup and added one teaspoon of sea salt. Didn't foam or anything, but got runny. I put it on my hair, left for about 5 minutes, and it immediately got super soft. After rinsing, I put some more on (still on). I think I'll let it stay on for 30 minutes.

One thing I noticed is that the KF on my skin made it soft as well, so I after bathing I put it on my skin and rinsed. SUPER SOFT SKIN. Then when I went in front of the mirror, I had this black rubbery stuff under my eyes. It looked like hair bonding glue after it dries. Then I realized it was my mascara. I'm using the Loreal double extensions (w/ tube technology). Ive never seen it come off like that. It didn't smear or anything and wiped right off. I don't know how to explain this, but except it get makeup off great as well!

Clumped? Really? Eww. I usually use the cone-free V05/White Rain/Suaves, or Elasta QP IFC, or TJ's.....

I voted still doing it and still loving it, but i only do it when my hair feels especially dry

As long as you are using it on your loose hair and rinsing it out fully before you cornrow your hair again, you should be cool. :yep: I was just suggested that you not use it on your cornrows, but you do have to redo them at some point, right? :yep:

JK, I'm so glad that you cleared that up, because i was a little confused for a second. esp, since that is my protective style for now, and i wanted to try this. so, thanks.

Yep...still does it too. My siggy pic shows how my hair is after I use my conditioner with salt:yep:

My KF's work best with TJ Nourish Spa conditioner.
Oh, yes...that's what I use with it...the best!

Wow I'm so glad I ran across this thread, I had completey forgotten about this. But everytime I did it I had wonderul results. My hair has been extremely dry and rough lately so I will doing this tonight! Thanks Ladies.

Okay after I rinsed it completely out it was so nice. It detangled sooooo easy, and there were like 10 initial hairs on the pick. TWO BIG THUMBS UP KIYA!
