There is a huge difference
Public person vs private person

when you're a celeb you are knowingly choosing to put yourself in the spotlight. And as a result of that you take all of the good and bad that comes along with it.

This lady was just getting her money out of an atm and now she's posted on a website. Although her weave is bad it wasn't nice to take a pic. No telling where this will end up.

Totally agree!

I don't necessarily agree with it, but according to the 1st Ammendment you can take pictures of strangers in a public place. What you do with the picture(s) is where the legal ramifications come into play. You can not sell them or use them for commerical purposes, but posting them in a thread is definitely legal!

OH, and the weave is busted!

It may be legal, but its just SO DAMN INCONSIDERATE! And the context it has been posted in... it's just mean!

but it just came off as wrong to me
And those people in the hotghettomess pics are posing and willingly taking their pics. Especially the ones in the clubs, because lots of the businesses post the pictures on sites and these people look forward to finding themselves in the pictures. This is a candid shot w/o her permission.
But to each her own.

Clowning on celebreties and regular people is the same thing. One group isn't less human or less fallible than the other. Don't try to justify one act and criticize the other....Especially if you are an ET Forum groupie.

I'm just saying.

I agree, I'm not sure how people can justify tearin celebs limb from limb like that's somehow ok because they're not a "regular" person.

While I CAN understand the sudden "outcry..."
...
I love how it took one person crying out "THASS SO MEAN!" and then group think took over and now everyone's ragging on the op. If you go in the ET and make fun of another HUMAN BEING, CELEB OR NOT, you have NO RIGHT to criticize...ok?

Because when celebs are "caught out there" looking raggedy or "off" and not on the red carpet, for example, J-Hudson trying to get somewhere and (before the tragedy) she was getting torn to bits. And it IS a candid 'razzi shot, ya'll have a LOT to say.

The weave is MESSED UP. No doubt about it. It is! And that was the focus...

Not quite sure what all the fuss is about...

There is usually a section in some newspapers and magazines with photos of "private citizens" who made fashion or hair "faux pas". The newspapers always block the faces out...these people never have a clue they are being photographed.

Anyway back on topic:I have seen many women walking around like this. One stylist told me that some women actually like their weaves to look like weaves so people will know they are wearing weaves. I thought it was quite strange but some women do make that request.

to everyone who's wondering how i got the shot without her noticing, i just whipped out the iphone, put it on silent so it didn't make a noise when the shot snapped, and then held it up and pretended i was texting or something. i don't think anyone but my friend who was with me at the time realized what was going on.

wow, really? i've never known of anyone WANTING people to know it's a weave...
but i mean, couldn't you at least gel your edges or something? i would

that was just horrible weave.

I really don't have an opinion on her posting the picture.

whatever. its up you don't like it then just exit the thread.

It's a forum so I'm sure discussion is allowed

My opinion is this
If anyone is bold enough to snap a pic of someone like that, then they should also be bold enough to be able to tell them about the site instead.

I'm trying to get down on the op but I really hope people don't think of doing this. That's all.

this is why i dont let strangers take photo's of me....even if i'm in the background.....you just never know where your face will end up.....

especially when having a bad hair day....

I don't even have that option. My family and I are such a rarity around here (live in Kobe, Japan), that people snap our pic daily. And forget about it when we travel. In China, random people would just pull (yes pull) us into pics w/ them and start smiling. I used to care, now I'm like CHEESE!!! LOL

OK! :lachen: Peeps LOVE to jump on the bandwagon.

Wow. That was a quick turnaround from agreein' and gigglin' with the OP, to now beatin' her up about. But I digress...

ya know?

and it's not like the OP didn't try to make the face scratched out to save the woman's identity and make her anonymous. magazines do this on the last page with just a stupid black strip across the eyes.

I guess this is why ol'folk always say try to leave the house looking your best - cos you never know who you might meet....you people are crazzyyyyyyy:grin:....Imma watch my back if y'all start acting like papparazzi!!!

I understand the bolded, but then again people take offense to you telling them they need hair help.

Either way, the weave is busted. But at least you blocked her face out. I love the Glamour Do's/Don'ts section so I can't be up in arms about this. It was just a hair don't. Maybe we should start a special thread.

OP don't you love your iphone? It always comes in handy during these situations. You could have just explained it to us but it just wouldn't have been the same.

That happens to me everytime I travel, especially because I'm dark skinned and wear my afro.

My sister and I were in Greece and we couldn't go 10 feet without people asking us to take our picture. Some random foreigners definitely have pics of us at the parthenon. LOL. It happens everywhere I travel. I think it's cute.

True, I guess my main point is
I'm in the business of minding my own business. Although I probably wouldn't have told her about the site, I also wouldn't have been brave enough to bust out my phone for a picture. Probably would have just looked upon her in shock and then kept it moving.

well said. :yep:

It's interesting how everyone is trying to justify their mean-spiritedness.

It's also interesting how it has to be "group think" and "following the crowd" to have the opinion that OP was mean for doing this.

As Jia says, "My opinions have that good credit, they don't need co-signers."

Oh well.

If this was you or your family member or someone you care about, you'd be ready to snap on someone. Busted weave or not, the lady was minding her own damn business.

I don't understand, people are taking pictures of us all the time without us knowing about it. Cameras are at stoplights, drive thrus, banks etc. She didn't show her face to protect her identity.
