Hey Ladies, I have never had an hot oil treatment and I was thinking about getting one. For me my hair is already shiny and soft but I wish the my ends could be a little healthier. So I was wondering is it worth getting a hot oil treatment. What was your experience.

Are you talking about a store bought hot oil treatment or a hot oil treatment using oils such as Olive Oil and Coconut Oil? I use either Olive oil or Coconut Oil as a hot oil treatment before I shampoo or either after I shampoo as an oil rinse. I totally recommend doing one! My hair always comes out shinier and a lot stronger. I've used a store bought one in the past, but I don't even remember the results. I believe oils such as Castor, Olive, and Coconut work just as well, if not better. HTH!

Oh, okay so you think that Olive Oil and Coconut Oil works better. Do you think that they are better then the ones that people get in the salons? I definitely want to try it.

I've never heard of getting hot oil treatments done at a salon, but my beautician never gave me a DC a well :ohwell:. I believe coconut oil or olive oil would work just as well or better, unless your beautician is using expensive Moroccan oil that everyone is raving about now. If you have olive oil or any other oils you've been using as a sealant you could try those first to see how you like it.

Okay, thanks for you help. So you just take the two oil and warm them and put them on your hair and scalp and cover it with a shower cap? Sorry for asking so many questions

Oh it's fine, yep that's what I do when I pre-poo with the oils. I also wash my hair put the oils on my hair and a shower cap. I take a shower and let the steam from the shower help the oils penetrate. After about 10 to 15 minutes I rinse and then DC. This method is called oil rinsing. There's was a huge thread on it, and you should be able to find plenty information on this method using search. Strong shiny hair everytime!

I normally take an applicator bottle, add castor, olive, coconut & jojoba oil... nuke it in the microwave for 30 seconds, and saturate my hair & scalp.

You may also want to try lightly oiling your ends on a daily basis...This practice helps to keep my ends pretty healthy. Works like a charm.... Smile...
