Re: There HAS to be someone on this site that maintained highlights without going bal
Kyna, thanks for htis post.. It's useful. My question is when you get your highlights redone, are they careful not to overlap and get the roots only? I'm so scared to get it done and then need a touchup and they overlap, esp at the demarcation line. When I first got my hair highlighted I had no idea about thsi board or protein treatments, etc... so my hair fell out bad...
I have highlights too... the bleached kind, not just colored. I read so many horror stories and I was sooooo scared. People saying that they had breakage where the highlights were. But, I emailed Sistaslick, who has great color care articles, and asked her what is the hair being stripped of, when its dyed or highlighted, that causes breakage. She said that the hair is being stripped of protein. So, I added the 2 min Keratin Reconstructor, which is light enough for weekly use, to my regimen. Also, I do harsh protein treatments every 6 wks. And my highlighted hair is perfectly fine. I'm actually getting a touch up in February. Now I was having a little trouble with my unhighlighted hair but, I nipped that problem in the bud with more moisture...
Hope the Helps![]()
