OK, Sunshine lady your killing me here!!! :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

This says it all!!

as only a Black starship captain could. :lachen:

But, seriously, do we really want to start down the road of telling our little black girls that they are not enough? Those children are beautiful just as they are.

Healthy hair > long hair.

They are the cutest little girls and I love them to death but when they get their hair straightened I am just shocked. With top stylists available to them how come their hair isn't longer? Most of us on the boards at that age can all vouch for longer tresses and we had kitchen beauticians ( our moms) doing our hair.

Maybe we need Michelle to become a member of LHCF. We can then advise her to start weekly deep conditioning on the girls and more moisture/ protective styles.

:nono::nono::nono::nono: Their hair looks fine to me.

Um

their hair looks very healthy. And I don't think DCing is necessary in Elementary school either. My girls, when I have them lol, will DC if and when they want to. Im sure with them seeing Mommy do it they may want to but I would not do it against their will. Plus with them being 12 or younger, they would probably only "DC" for 5 minutes before they got bored anyways.

I think their hair is lovely and healthy...not everyone wants Longer hair....This is kind of shallow

My thoughts exactly. No offense to whoever *Q* is, but I'm sure Michelle had a lot more important things on her plate than to study hair tips on LHCF all day. ~sidenote~ Their hair is beautiful and healthy.

How Que and her girls get involved in this?

I want her to come in here and comment.

Anyway, I agree with the person that stated - Hair obsession gone too far.

They are beautiful little girls. With great hair. And they have a lot more to worry about growing up in the public eye, than if they have hair longer than APL, a standard that so few feel is really important.

I think we get on this board and see the love and desire for long hair by so many, which is great because this is the place for that kind of indulgence. But I think some forget that in real life, hair really is not that serious to most people.

:wallbash::realitycheck:

Why do they have to have long hair to be beautiful? I personally believe that they are the prettiest children that will ever grace the halls of the White House.

I have always loved their hair! The first thing when I saw their hair natural and then straight, I was like wow, somebody is really taking care of their hair and not throwing a perm up in there so fast to make things "easier." So whomever is caring for it is doing a very good job.. To me, their hair is long. I can only imagine what it's going to look like the older they get with the obviously good hair practices they have. I think their hair is going to be amazing....

And we see people with "top" stylists all the time, esp. stars on tv, black stars to be exact, adn although their weaves are generally banging, their real hair is always a hot mess... So I'm not sure what a top stylist could do to get somebody's hair growing because in truth, especially from this forum, the real top stylists are here and growing hair like I've never seen any paid and trained professional do...

I applaud Michelle for keepign their hair nice, and for also giving them nice decent ethnic styles and not straightening it out all the time... She obviously knows sometihng about proper hair care for our hair type...

Someone said "I just wonder these little girl's hair would look like if someone decided to care for it."

I think it's sort of judgemental to think their hair is NOT being cared for... It's not see thru, it's not broken off, thinning out.. Their edges aren't gone... And they dont' have a relaxer..... And with all that, their hair is thick, healthy, shiny, a great length and just beautiful... Apparently, I dont know about the rest of you, but to me, it's most definitely being cared for.

God bless them.... and pray for them whenever you think about them, they need our prayers.

I'd just like to add that healthy hair is more important than long hair and I know this board is all about long hair but they are kids and I'm not in the business of criticizing kids hair...its not broken off and crazy looking so who cares if it only came to thier ears? I don't they are just kids and some kids reach their ultimate length as they grow older, believe me I know because my daughter was near bald over two years and while my hair was fuller and thicker than hers it didn't really grow super long until sometime in elementary school. Everybodys hair follows a different growth pattern and maturity rate. It is very possible that Michelle cuts their hair or maybe whoever has been styling it for public appearances has. We have enough tabloids talking about the Obamas lets not criticize the children here.

I must admit some of the responses are shocking. Hearing comments like hair obsessed and shallow? Wow and the threads about who has the better goods? What is wrong with so and so's makeup etc is not over the top???

Simple question ladies. Remember this is a hair growth board hence the reason I asked.

*****quote deleted*****

The Supremes have it in their genes. Come on. Look at ***Que***'s hair. Not everyone will have thick, long locks like Que. :yep:

Last time I checked It's not a crime NOT to be BSL or APL .

I don't know who does their hair or really care, but what I do know is that they are adorable and their hair looks perfect for little girls with lots of events to attend this weekend.

Hey now...hey now...:look:

I think the difference here is within what you just wrote - these are kids, not adults. So when you speak of..."who has the better goods? What is wrong with so and so's makeup etc is not over the top???"...that's kinda different in a way.

Plus maybe its in the way it was worded..(did I spell that right?). It kinda came across as they SHOULD have longer hair, than what if, why not, maybe...kinda see what I'm tryin to say?

Even then, I get your point, it is a hair board, but at the same time...I think they are beautiful girls, with healthy hair...no matter what length. And like someone mentioned before about teaching our young girls "whats acceptable and ok"...

I dont know...I think ppl know what I'm tryin to say...sorry, its still a lil early for me..:lachen:

If u use that same train of thought, then, everyone that has ben a member of this board since at least 2007, should be waist length by now, lol

I think you must have known that some would disagree with your thread, otherwise your title would not have started with "Don't kill me ladies! But ...."

I'm sure the focus right now is getting them adjusted to their "new" life and making sure they excel just like mommy and daddy...not deep conditioning.

IMO. Their hair is beautiful . Barack and Michelle have more pressing issues going on. There's too much going on right now...jobs being cut, recession, and we still have troops overseas....APL hair for the girls is NOT that serious.

If I recall correctly in the entertainment section here there was a board. "Who has the better goods Sasha or Mahlia"? Not thats over the top IMO

Wondering why there hair considering its natural and usually in twists or other ponytails isn't longer? Is not...

The answer is simple.

EVERYONE IS NOT OBSESSED WITH HAVING LONG HAIR.

For many people, APL is enough.

Especially for LITTLE GIRLS, who like to run around and mess up their hair. It's probably more manageable at that length. There are plenty of little girls (of all races) whose mothers choose to keep the hair even shorter than that... just because it's more manageable on a child.

Any idiot can see that those girls have healthy hair that would be easy to grow out if that is what was wanted.

Just because you're a black woman into long hair doesn't mean that EVERY black women is. I know plenty of grown women who would be happy with that length of hair, even if they could have it longer.

C'mon now.

Theit hair is longer than most kids that age. I think it's odd to see kids with really long hair, like to their non-existant bra straps and their waists anyway. It just overwhelms their little bitty bodies. I don't even see many kids of other ethnicities with hair much longer than Sasha's and Malia's at that age. Especially if they're not only children, their parents probably don't have time to indulge like that.

I agree......

Every time I see them they look very polished...As a mother myself, I would be more concerned with the health of their hair versus the length ...they are just little girls.
