I am going nuts here.
I have so much darn hair on my head.
I spend too much money on products.
My hair eats up everything.
And I'm not even SL yet.
How do you ladies "stretch" you product to last longer?

i gave up trying, maybe you can try adding water and cornstarch to make it thicker and last longer? just a thought?

Thick and thirsty raising hand! :sekret:

I have learned to listen to the beast :yep: and if I can make a product I make it if I can't then I try to get the best deal possible.

Welcome to the family of cottony mass of wonderfulness.

I try to stick with drug store products & watch for sales. Ebay is a wonderful thing.

Lots and lots and lots of hair here too :yep:

I try to use alot of cheap products since I use so much of everything. The more expensive stuff I try to water down with water, oils or other similar products to stuff much as possible without ruining the benefits of the expensive stuff.

It loves moisture, sucks it right up.

My hair is not even that long, but its thickness is legendary. I was known for breaking combs and brushes when I was a kid and now I see why.:lachen: It takes me so long to even part my hair and it is a TWA. I still love it, though.:yep:

my hair is quite thick and coarse. products tend to sit on my hair so i need to pack every thing on in order to control. my hair prefers undiluted stuff too. I just buy large sizes.

Thick hair checking in. I hate it too. I wonder why people want thick hair. Maybe if I didn't have it, I would understand. But I just don't see it. All my life growing up when all the fly hairstyles were in, and I tried to do it on my hair, I thought it looked a hot mess!

My hair is like 1" pass ear length and its already thick, I'm nervous but at the same time COMPLETELY excited about my hair getting to your length!

I've got enough hair on my head for 2, maybe even 3 people. Sometimes I feel like it's more work than it's worth. I tend to just use the cheap stuff on a regular basis and save the more expensive stuff for a treat or hair emergency.

I was griping about this to myself just the other day. My hair isn't that long either (I'm about almost 6 mos post BC and my hair is maybe NL/barely SL when stretched). I feel like I go thru SO much conditioners, DCs, etc. And NOTHING works to get my hair to lie flat. I can barely put it in a bun to wear a ponytail so I have to put it in two! And I too used to break combs when I was younger. NOw, I'm breaking clips and barrettes, etc. :wallbash:

I have very thick hair too. When you add a deep conditioner to your hair, make sure it is soaking wet. Don't give your hair time to drip, and definitely don't blot it with a towel. Work your products through soaking wet hair, and then just put on a shower cap to avoid making a mess.
I read a very useful tip from LadyLibra a while ago where she said that she dilutes Vo5 with water and a bit of honey. I tried this and it REALLY works, the Vo5 works better this way than it does straight. You can also try shikakai (1 part) and amla (2 parts) rinses. Those are the only ayurvedic things I use, they're cheap, last me months and they really work.
I add coconut and olive oils to some of my deep conditioners (everything except for my Kenra), and that stretches the products quite a bit too.
When I oil my dry hair, I put on a shower cap (like I'm doing a prepoo) and that helps the oil warm up and spread around. Otherwise I would find myself adding more and more... and more, till I felt my hair soften/become moist.

You know what they always say: you always want what you don't have. I have thin hair and I truly covet thick hair. I can grow my hair long with no problem at all, but getting thick hair ... that's another story. It's the one thing I can't easily get.

After, taking my bun down a few days ago, I told my mom there's no way that I'm bunning this summer. My hair bunned feels like I'm wearing a hat. I told her that I'm going to put in 2-strand twists. She said "I told you to do that a long time ago." It's a blessing and a curse.
ETA: I try to buy the biggest conditioner bottles when I can. Sometimes I dilute products to last longer.

My hair is crazy thick as well and a little pass shoulder length. I'm going to try the VO5 with water and honey mixture. Optimus...shikakai (1 part) and amla (2 parts) is that the oils or the powders? and the "Part" measurement is that tsp or tblspn measurement?

One thing I've noticed about my hair is that while it soaks up the moisture whenever I use the oils they just "sit" on my hair and make my scalp itch. So I'm finding that I can't use a LOT of oils...but my hair does like the oil and like almost everyone else..it soaks up the moisturizers. I tried to use the Aphogee leave in and it leaves my hair very "straw" like. I've been doing a "braid out" style and love it for now. Can anyone tell me where I can buy that Pantene Creme dress that is suppose to make combing your roots easy?? I've gone to way too many stores and can't find it.

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with putting conditioners on drenched hair. I couldn't even use VO5 as my hair laughed at it. Pantene and heavy conditioners are my weapon of choice. I still have to use a lot of it though. Be happy girl!!!

I'm not sure my hair is thick the strands are pretty fine, but I have alot of them and they love moisture. my hair is straighter and thin when wet and thicker when dry and I use up a bottle of suave con in 2 washes. I don't buy expensive hair products I just make my own and add oils to my conditioners like suave or treseme since I go through them so fast. I use cholesteral to dc. I wish I could try alot of the products i hear about on here but some of them are expensive and come in such small jars I don't bother. After i had my daughter my hair became so thick I was ready to chop it off and it still gaining volumn like crazy, its frustrating and lately I've been too lazy to comb it out every morning.

i got thick hair. when i was younger and my hair was long one of my brothers put a pencil in my fro and for a while i couldn't find it my mother had to help me look:lachen:.
usually i buy thick moisturisers and dilute with braid spray or a watery product so far so good. i will use a dab or silk elementa leave in creme then mix some braid spray in it rub it in a section of my hair and voila and my hair is good.
i also section my hair when i moisturise OR only the out parts will get moisturised.
also i find my hair is more thristy the longer i leave it to co-wash.

the back of my hair is super thick i mostly don't see my scalp. it's not tht my strands are thick i have alot of strands ALOT but i've learned what my hair likes

Stoopid thick, thirsty hair checking in. I don't know why people want thick hair either, trust me it is not all it's cracked up to be. I have to wash my hair in sections or while it's still twisted up. Otherwise, waste of energy and product--not to mention my scalp would never get clean anyway. :ohwell:

So for my shampoos and cleansers I dilute dilute dilute. For conditioners I can get away with using them straight, as long as I take the time to squeeze it through my hair. Deep conditioners and treatments, I add extra oils and make sure they're squeezed through my twists or sections very well. Moisturizers or butters, I slather on and let marinate until it's soaked up.

I used to think the strands were thick too. But after I took the time to check them out, the strands are kind of fine, I just have enough of them for two or three people.

my hair mega thick! i love it BUT everything takes long... combing...washing... which is why i always set my self up- i.e. plaits lead to braidout... braidout leads to puff & anyothe style i can do witha braidout lol
