After reading about protective styles I have been dreaming
about being able to bun. I think retention is the key for me.

How long does it have to be for me to bun

Looks like it's long enough to bun...I think shoulder length + can do it easily it's neck length and under that have trouble.

Girl I been bunning since I had a nub!!!I just pretty much slick my hair back in a pony,and wrap around a weft of hair I have preglued to itself to make it less wrapping, I wrap & pin, wrap & pin. Then I twirl it up in a bun & whalla!!! I have been doing this for years to help me grow out of short cuts. Plus I'm able to use the hair over & over. My job requres me to wear my hair back, so I bun daily. I had a pic , but I must have erased it from my pc, I'll post one for you soon as I can. HTH

Have you tried the Southern Tease bun? She started doing with scraping SL hair. I did it for a while, but it's actually harder once your hair is longer.

my hair is grazing shoulder length and I bun every day. I just put my hair is a ponytail, moisturize and baggy the ends (I use a small hair roller to keep the ends from tangling) then slap on my phony pony and go!

It looks long enough to me. If you don't think you have enough hair to make your bun as full as the one you posted, then put one of those hair scrunchies (in a color to match your own hair) around your high ponytail and pin your own curly hair around that.

Thanks you are kind. I learned about protective styles here since then I have been a little obsessed!
