so flat ironing wet hair is ok???

i know everyone is different and all that stuff but how do YOU feel about it? at first i thought that it would be damaging or something but many ppl have mention doing this and having major silkyness! i know that that doesnt means is good to do though....so how do yall feel about this? :look:


not soaking wet but damp...

IDK. I dont see the diference between flat ironing wet hair and blow drying. So I say no its not ok.
 
I don't like the idea personally. I just think if bubbling, sizzling water on your strands. Just like oil and straightening = frying :(
 
u couldnt pay me to do that and i don't care if u hav scientific stuff to prove whatever..I ain't doin it!

ITA!! That's exactly what I think of... or adding water to a piping hot pan. I wouldn't want my hair in there. My personal preference though: I wouldn't do it.

If I remember correctly, Irresistible has wet to dry videos on YouTube. You might want to check them out if you're interested. She has extraordinarily long hair to back her up lol :)
 
I think it's probably okay to do it. The water keeps the hair cool so it's better than doing it 100% dry. Water is a moisturizer ya'll! The best one in fact. I understand why people are scared because it's "the unknown"...or "my mother always told me not to do that". I try not to flat iron much anyway, but I would rather do it a little damp rather than blow drying with heat and flat ironing afterwards. Just my opinion.

i did it about 3 times earlier this year when i got a wet to dry flat iron. nothing bad happened to my hair but i prefer to flat iron on dry hair because wet hair takes longer. but my results are the same. and there was no damage.

I do this too. I've done it about 3 times too. No damage. I usually do it on mostly airdryed hair. I don't own a blow dryer. It does take longer.
 
I did it before on one two inch across and 12 inches long lock of wet hair....

Man I miss that section of hair...but it grew back. :lachen:

I will never do that again and I learned about it here on the board. If someone suggests that you try a wet/dry flat iron and you have luscious long hair...they just want you to suffer. :yep: Don't do it.

After watching Irresistible on youtube. I tried it and loved it. I don't have a wet-dry flat iron. Just a reg. one that I brought at Walgreens. My hair was silk and very soft. I used heat protection (VO5) and my hair was towel dried. Still damp but not wet. Sprayed heat protection on it and flat ironed. It does take longer but nothing has happened to my hair. You have to be smart about what you do no matter what. Wouldn't be smart to do it on wet hair, high temps, don't just hold it in one spot long because your hair is damp, or go over it 50-11 times because your hair is damp.

I havent boiled my hair yet with either oil or water:grin:

IMO for my hair, they both only leave me with soft moisturized hair:yep:
 
I've done it, occasionally and haven't had any problems. I do have one that is specifically for damp wet hair.
 
I wouldn't do it, never tried it. :ohwell: I havent flat iron in so long, I have been doing good with staying away from heat much as possible. The last time I flat iron, I use the FHI Hot Sauce Heat protector on my hair dried and then I flat iron, I never do it wet. :yep:
 
I used to do this all the time when I was relaxed. I never retained length , but I had other bad practices so I can't attribute it to just the flatironing.

Will I try it now? No way. Some things work for some people, some things do not. Better safe than sorry where my hair is concerned. :)
 
I have a wet to straight flat iron that I can use wet or dry, it does not seem that much different than steaming, just make sure you use a good heat protectent, I use ION from sally's
 
I use a maxiglide, so i have steam and a bit of damp...not wet. I love it. My hair has that cool dewy feel for days afterwords. I don't hear a sizzle........if i do, its the heat protectant.

Must admit i was cautious at first until RealuvsanOxymoron insisted. Thanks Real!
 
I cant straighten my hair bone dry, I just cant do it, so this will be the only option for me forever and its worked well for me these years w/no issues

This last press that turned out GREAT, I was trying to do quickly and part of my hair was drying and it was like NONONO :nono: So I put a bunch of silk straight in it to re wet it anyway, dry just dont work for me, also a no oil press, for me might as well be a sahara desert press

wet presses with oil really work for me- REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT :lachen:

it gives me MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE
