huh? American is a nationality. Her heritage/ethnicity/ is half Brazilian and if her mother is Brazilian then it is pretty significant.

But Brazilian is a nationality, too. :look: Okay, so she's Nigerian/Brazilian/American black. I think I got it.

Anyway, that updo she's doing on the carpet, is that her hair texture or a twist-out, do you think?

Yea I know. I said half Brazilian which was incorrect I meant afro-brazilian.

The updo looks like a twist or braid out imo because of the way it is all crinkly.

Yeah, I do remember reading that, but I might be wrong...

Man... it's too bad that this thread seems to have taken on a somewhat negative tone, and I certainly hope I didn't contribute to this speculation over her ethnicity or any attempts to de-negrofy her. (but lol at that new word that I will incorporate in my vocabulary). I got curious when I read others' queries into her ethnicity and went to Wiki to check. As others said and even I said earlier, I could care less what her ethnic background is. Her hair is beautiful, and so is her skin and even her body from all those years of dancing.
Girl don't even worry about. Although I didn't realize the race/ethnicity/hair issue ran that deep with folks on this board :look: . God forbid you point out that somebody has some non-black blood up in the mix and people automatically assume that you are "de-negrofying" (kewl word) the person. Please. People are running to far with this. Nobody said ish about her being exotic or not being BLACK. In fact I was discussing her nationality which has nothing to do with her race or hair :rolleyes:Only an ignorant person would assume that yaya's beautiful hair is a result of her "exotic" heritage. Which I am not.

Anyways I'm done. That is the last from me on the race issue which is really starting to take over the thread (sorry OP)

I wanna discuss this gorgeous head of hair

So clearly you are talking about me, so first of all, I'll be the first one to say that everyone should claim who they are, etc. But what annoyed me about this thread is as soon as the hair compliments came in posts # 1-3 everything after that seemed like an explanation for the "nice hair". It wasn't said outright, but it was kind of implied. If I say such and such has nice hair why is the responses following about "what she is"? That implies that there is connection between "the pretty hair" and where she got it from. I don't even believe in the concept of "race" so its not a "deep issue" as you assume.

I love Yaya since she was on top model and during that season and and afterwards, she always talked about being African (Nigerian) to the point of annoyance:rolleyes:. That's why when I read that she is "Brazilian", I was like since when:rolleyes:.

That is all.:nono: 90% of the reason I liked her bony butt was because of her hair......

I love Yaya's hair and I also rooted for her

And by the way, Brazilian doesn't necessarily equal white. I know many Brazilians that have a very dark complexion. They have great bodies though, I hate them LOL j/k

Anyway her natural hair is beautiful

Hello,
Back to what Yaya's regimen is :drunk: - I looked up another thread on here and found Yaya's myspace link:
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=87920668

From what was said in that thread, she actually replied to someone asking about her haircare. But you need to have a myspace account in order to post a question to her.

Here is the thread I found:
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=6265241

Now does anyone have a myspace account?????? We can learn something here!!!

Kurlee my post wasn't specifically directed at you... others said the same thing. I just used your the "de-negrofy" word because I like it LOL and it fit in with what I was trying to say.

Girl its all good. I think this whole think just got waaaaay far off track and people got all caught up in the race issue (me included), so I'm just gonna leave it alone.

Yea so back to yaya's hair :look:
