Spin off a thread on what sistas do when it's time to hit the sack. One sista said she left her straight hair loose and did not tie it up.

This intrigued me as I am one who has been programmed to tie it up before bed.

Honestly, now that I'm wearing my natural hair straight all the time (and it is thriving with weekly protein and heat:ohwell:), I don't like to wrap it because I'm not into excessive brushing and combing. I want it straight, so a loose bun defeats the purpose. Large rollers are out cause I needs my beauty rest.

If you are one of those rare sistas who sleeps with her straight hair loose, how does this work for you?

I just wanted to say...HEY GIRL! Now back to your thread....

Can't offer help, haven't done the straight thing yet,BUT it's good to hear your hair is thriving with protein weekly. This is something I've been thinking about...

My hair is about ear length now and most of the time if I wear it wrapped I tie it in a scarf. But i like my hair curly (straw set, flexirod or some type of variation) so I just sleep on a satin pillow case. It flatten my curls but it doesn't rub them out. In the a.m., I just apply some oil and fluff it out. My style lasts for two weeks. Easy breezy japaneezy!

I don't see how anyone can [COMFORTABLY] sleep on their hair naked and wake up with perfect hair regardless of the texture...

I sleep on satin pillowcases. Even then, if I don't braid my hair up it becomes matted and flat I have to re do it and wet it down to make it look fresh again. My straightened hair gets messed up too. They don't call it "bed head" for nothing.

Now, I can sleep with nothing on my head and preserve the style, but I basically just prop my head up with my arm. You'll wake up with a numb arm and a crick in your neck :lachen:

I dont wear a scarf or bonnet but i have a satin pillow case. usually i sleep with my hair up in a clip - nothing special. When i got the BKT, they said you couldnt put any rubber bands or anything in it for 4 days - so at that time i slept with my hair loose. it was wonderful and liberatin!!!! lol. It did get alittle in the way and in my face, but i felt like i had 'good hair' for once. Dont know how my hair would have held up sleeping with it loose and w/out the treatment - might have not gone so well.

*Naturalgurl raises her hand* What is the BKT?

I rarely sleep with nothing on my head because my hair will dry right on up. But when I do it's usually when I am DEAD tired. I will try to sleep on a satin pillow case when I can (if it's not too hot) and I have to be comfortable or I will toss and turn and half my hair will be snatched out.

I must confess, I just put a bandana on my head. I have a satin pillowcase, and it's sitting on the desk -where its been for about 6 months. I have so much crap in my hair (I baggie at night), that I never bothered properly tying it up. Most times I wake up with the bandana on the floor!

I sleep with naked hair on a cotton pillowcase and it causes no issues for me. It may be a problem for others, but wrapping doesn't work for my hair and I don't care enough to try anything else. The last time I had my hair straightened I called myself wrapping it, put clips around it to keep it up long enough to get my scarf on and when I got up in the morning it was all frizzing on the front.

I don't wear my hair straight often, maybe once or twice a year in the past 3 years, and I keep it straight for a week or less because I have a very oily scalp and after 3 days you can smell my hair (gross I know, but this is why I don't wear my hair straight).

My hair on day 3 after getting it straightened. It doesn't look dry or like it's frizzy or anything. I put it up while I shower of course and brush it and I think I did hot rollers the previous day while I put my makeup on.

Hey back at ya! have you checked your personal email yet. waiting for reply on the gift i have for you:grin:

Oh ya, protein rocks. seals that porous hair right up.

I so feel the frizzy front wrapping experience. BTW, your hair is really really nice:grin:

Um oily scalp hu? that's something I ever imagined we could have! Yet another busted myth:look:

Ahhh what we'll endure for the sake of pristine hair:lachen::lachen::lachen:too funny!

*Naturalgurl raises her hand* What is the BKT?

BKT = Brazilian Keratin treatment - there are a bunch of threads on it.... Its a TEMPORARY coating of keratin on your hair to make it more shiny, moisturized and manageable [and smooth the demarcation line (if you have one)]. It works for both relaxed and natural heads. See my last two progress pics in my siggy.

A SILK PIllowcase will do quite well for you for sleeping on Naked hair......

Love you!!!!!! I miss you.

My hair isnt very long but i barely ever put a scarf on it. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and have a satin comforter just in case it rubs against my hair. I moisturize at night and in the morning my hair still looks good. I just use a wide tooth comb to comb it out a little and put some moisturizer on my ends. I've been doing this since sept and have had no problem. I havent noticed any hair loss or breakage on my pillow.

Miss ya too lil sis. I'll call you tomorrow. thanks for the great tip -- as usual.:yep:
