What are you going to do different in 2009 to your hair

In 2009, I will:

1) Stretch my relaxers to 13 weeks or 4 times a year; my norm is 8-10 weeks. I am currently at 10 weeks post, and my last relaxer for 2008 will be at 12 weeks.

2) Start trimming after every relaxer (3 months) in an effort to be blunt WL by October 1st.

1. Continue with using as many natural/natural based/organic products on my hair as possible

2. Get my regi down. Decided to get rid of all the old products I don't want to use anymore on Dec 31 even if I'm not finished. All of them will most likely be finished or just have a drop left so I won't feel as bad

3. Relax only 3 times in 2009 (Jan, May, Sept)

4. Bun 99.9% of the time

1. moisturize moisturize moisturize
2. keep a clean scalp even with braid once a week
3. hide my hair while transitioning with single box braids instead of the micros that destroyed my hair and ill have them cornroll the front especially my edges the middle can be done regularly and do a lot of cornrolls from spring summer to fall while at the same time still moisturizing 2x a day
4. drink more water and monitor the heat and moisture/protein balance

I will use definitely less heat,
Will stretch my relaxer
Use protective style Monday - Friday
DC twice a week
& of course Moisturise, Moisturise, moisturise & seal.

  • I'm thinking about incorporating coffee or tea rinses. Sounds interesting.
  • I've never done a full on henna and indigo color treatment. I've only done henna glosses in the past. I'm gonna definitely try the full treatment soon.

I don't really intend to change anything I'd like to be able to stop using gel but right now my hair in front is shorter than the rest because I trimmed the split ends so I still need it to smooth my hair down into a bun

I'm going to stay away from the scissors and not cut my hair at all from this point forward. I want to see how long my hair can really get.

I'm gonna flat iron more frequently and use Sabino on a regular basis whether straight or curly. And do more steam treatments...they really help my issues a lot

I know this is a change of subject but....your baby is so cute in your siggy.

Just adorable.:yep:

I am going to leave my hair alone for the summer by trying a lacefront wig.

I will be sticking to my regimen but...I need to start using more Leave-in conditioners.

I will be incorporating coffee rinses and an MN mix to my routine. I am also trying to get down to using one tried and true product line for conditioners, moisturizers, etc or make my own.

 Lords, it would be easier to outline what I won't change in 2009. I haven't decided for certain, that I'm going to be doing anything new - I might try to focus on becoming a better/more accurate mixtress.....

Umm...hide my hair until Christmas 2009 (currently wearing a weave) and take care of everything from the inside out.

I'm going to find one set of staple products to use.
By the end of the year, I want to be a complete DIYer (I am fearful of doing chemical services due to mistakes made in the past).
I want to try wigs or half-wigs.

I just plan on keeping my hair healthy. My hair needs lots of moisture. Its not responding to DC and my moisturizer so I just want to focus on fixing that problem. I'm not longer thinking about length, I'm more concerned with the way my hair looks and feels. So this year is all about getting rid of thin ends, getting a healthy shine, and moisture, moisture, moisture! I'm gonna put continue with lots of water, supplements, and diet. and hopefully I'll see an improvement.

I saw this thread and thought about it in depth. I couldn't think of anything different because I love the results I'm getting now. Sooooo, with that said, I'll try to be more consistent with mixing my concoctions. Sometimes I get lazy and instead of mixing I slather the stuff on in a light to heavy order...i.e apply aloe vera gel, dab a little glycerin, then apply coconut oil and then seal with shea butter. Or when I make a mini batch for one time use by just throwing together a little something something, shake and apply. It only takes a few minutes to make a nice batch, don't know why I get lazy.

changing products or regimens or what?

I'm going to go strictly Ayurvedic.

I'm going to test Ayurvedic method for the month of December. If I see good results, I'm going to use it exclusively. I'm really trying to stick with one method for 2009.

I've got into a good routine with Ayurveda and natural products. I'm going to stick with my routine and get regular trims religiously. Adding hendingo to my routine was a good move for me and I have noticed significant progress since I began in September. Thanks to all you ladies for advice and tips on Ayurveda and Henna treatments, I'm going to sit back and watch my hair improve.

I'm sticking to what I know.

Rollersets....dominican conditioners.....deep conditions...condition washes....mininum heat.

Trying to stay clear of the bandwagons.

I'm not going to change my regiment really since it's simple and works well, but I am going to try to wear more protective styles, especially right now while the weather is cooling down.

How does the Sabino help your curly hair? Do you think it can help my twist outs from puffing up?
Well I heard from someone that using sabino to seal after you dc makes it easier to detangle with the next wash (it did that) plus it helps decrease frizz & maintain health. I'm not co-washing daily anymore (too cold) so I just spritz daily. So hopefully that will be the case. I plan to use a mild shampoo, dc then sabino every week or so then clarify every month or two. We'll see how it goes but so far so good.

and i do think that it will keep your twistouts from puffing out as long as you seal with it and make sure your twists are fully dry before undoing them

babynursen98 thanks you:grin:

Thanks for the info. I think I'll give it a try once I get some money.

Well, I expect to hit APL at some point in 2009.

I'm going use weaves until summer to achieve this. I also want to stick to products that I know I like: tresemme, j/a/s/o/n conditioners.

Also, I finally want to buy those dang caruso rollers
