Hi Ladies,

Does anyone have any information on the Featherflat thermal stove iron made by milstanology? I saw short video and it looks awesome but wanted to know if anyone had any experience with it. I called the company and they said that its really popular out in California, it seems that many in Cali get press in curls and this iron replaces the need for the pressing comb.

Thanks

So, the difference between this a regular Marcel stove flat iron is just the shape, right? I guess because it's really flat, it's supposed to get your hair straighter?....

I saw this video on youtube a while ago & when I saw the texture of the model's hair I moved on to a different channel.

its suppose to be the type of iron its made from, blue steel. That one model had a wavy texture but there was a model would had coarse hair also. If it really works it would be a gem because I would relax my hair less. I wish someone had a real in person experience with it.

I never heard of blue steel! I used to loooove Marcels and then the one stylist I had in Houston who focused on healthy hair stopped using them . I tried to find more info on the feather flat iron, but I couldn't even find the price.

its $69, I called and the rep was so helpful. I ordered it and will let you know when I get it and if it really works like the video. But does anyone know what you spray on the hair when you curl with the marcels, you know how ladies with the short hair cuts get that stacked curl look but its not hard or crunchy?

Nah, it's a flat plated pressing comb and too much heat. How long does the hair stay straight before reversion and how does the hair hold up under humidity? I think I will stick to my straightening with my curling iron.

That straightened the exact same way my marcel did, the one you put over an electric stove. No biggie. But it's damaging so I don't use it anymore.

How is the temperature regulated with the stoves?

It's not, you have to know when to put the iron on and when to take it off. When the iron is hot enough, and when to let it cool enough to straighten your hair....it can be a gamble if you don't know what you're doing and you CAN burn off your hair lol. I'd been doing it for years so I had a routine down.

I saw it, results look great. Too bad I'm scared to style my own hair using stove flat irons. :nono:

with stove irons most aren't regulated but golden supreme sells thermostat stoves to control the temperature, they also have an iron tester but I learned to use marcels in school. Most people use the white paper towel method to test the irons, if the towel browns then the iron is too hot, let it cool down. Always use heat protectant, its as damaging as the electric flat iron which can get up to 430 degrees.

I saw this and it looks very interesting. My hairstylist uses Milstand Irons. Marcel irons can get your hair so shiny and straight if used correctly. I wish I had the skill.

I purchased several of Milstan's Irons. The irons are great and perform very much like it is shown on the video. I have been very pleased with the results and my hair stay straight with very little to no reversion. Of course with the use of any heat you should watch how much heat your are using and prepare the hair properly with a good heat protectant.

Georgia what heat protectant do you use? Does the milstan iron get your hair as straight as the video? Do you really see a difference between the milstan and regular marcel irons?

Shoot, I wanted to know the same thing! I have been watching these videos all morning and I want to hear from someone who has experience with them before I spend so much money on them.

I also want to know how they work on 4a/4b hair.... Any input ladies?

I've been eyeing one of these. Shucks i use heat weekly, i don't see the harm in it. I would love to try this out.

i'm ordering one. i was gonna get the Instlyer, but then I saw the youtube for the feather flatiron. i think its about $70. i hope it works as good as in the video, because if so, i can get my hair straight in just one pass.

I received mies, andi have to say I LOVE IT. It is so thin and gets so close it is amazing. I am going to order the curling irons also now that I see it really does work. The plates are thinner than on my 1/2" ceramic iron, and my ceramic is probably more damaging. You just have to test the iron with tissue before you put it on your hair.
If you order say that Leesah Cage referred you a I think you are suppose to get 10% off.

Anyone else try these? What are your thoughts? After using the hair was s shiny and I was able to get the edges straight and I have never been able to get that close with any other iron.

The feather flat is really the thinnest flat iron I have ever seem, it is expensive at least to me but I can truly say that I it works at least for me. I have paid over $100 for ceramic irons and I like the feater flat better. It comes in different sizes, I only have the regular which is about 3/4" or maybe 1" but because the plates are so thin it gets to the edge of the hair right at the root. The plates closed are the size of one plate on my babyliss mini ceramic.

If any body does a wash and press, I know you would love the feather flat.

Sounds like a great iron!

Does it cut down the time when flat ironing in some way?

I saw that on the website and it looks so incredible. Thing with ceramics, they break lol. Do you have a thermostatically controlled oven or another kind? I'm seriously thinking of getting this thing. Also, which products did y ou use to protect? Can you use the Chi Silk Infusion??

Ive used this iron for a couple of weeks now and I am very pleased with it. It gets so close but you have to be careful to make sure you have a paper towel handy to make sure the iron isn't too hot. It gets super close to the scalp, its crazy. I think you can use any thermal protectant.
Has anyone else tried it, Id love to hear what you think.
