In hair purgatory
Does anyone ever feel like their hair dosent go by the "rules". I feel like my hair is so darn rebellious. I ask for help her and i get the "textbook" answers. (Sometimes is pisses me off because ive exhausted them already) for example:
Q:my hair feels really dry.i dc'ed and clarified many times. what should I do?

A:you need to balance with moisture. hard hair means you have too much protein.

i do a moisturizing DC. i moisturize and acv and my hair still feels dry and crispy.:wallbash: then i put a keratin treatment because i feel like it and my hair feels soft and smooth. What the heezy?:ohwell:
Sometimes hair confuses me:spinning:

fyi i know the hair into isnt 100% concrete n all that but i hope you get what i mean. it works for the majority i guess...

anyway does your hair follow the rules:dork: or is your hair a hard core bad girl:210:

Nope my hair sure doesnt. after daily moisturizing, clarifying, and DC every week, my hair is still dry so I feel your pain.

Arrg my hair lately does what it want to...I have been making my own hair conditioner and oils for 2 years...yet im thinking I need a hard core protien because no matter how much conditioner in it put it it still feels dry. I added some silk peptide to my conditioner leave in and hair stoped breaking of a lil bit and was softer...but still feels dry. I dont think hair is holding in moisture or something. I was thinking about adding some hydrolyzed keratin to my deep conditioner.

I dont know if its hardcore bad...but it is actin hardheaded lol

I stumbled across this and thought it was pretty helpful.

I recently realized that what I think is dry hair can actually be overly moisturized hair. When my hair (4b natural) has too much moisture in it, it becomes frizzy, won't take any more moisture if I try to moisturize, and somewhat unmanageable. It also starts to break. It actually looks and behaves a lot like it does if it is dry. I've just learned to pay attention to what I've actually been doing to it to see if I need protein/a shampoo, or more moisture.

Yep, I have delinquent hair too! Actually, I have delinquent ends...the rest of my hair tends to cooperate for the most part. Napp, you hair is gorgeous!

ditto...lol because I have to have a minimum of 10 characters in order to make this post. I'm sure I've passed that by now!

nope my hair doesnt do what its told to do at all

i tell it lie down it doesnt lol
i tell it swang this way, it swangs that way lol
my hair only feels proper well moisturised after its been flat ironed

But Lor' knows i love my head of hair!!

:lachen::lachen: my hair is bipolar.....it does what it wants and all I can do is listen or try to put it in a straight jacket (bun or braid) and it still rebels from that too!!! :lachen: my hair be straight up gangsta sometimes!!!:lachen: but I still love it lol

I do everything they tell us not to do on this site and my hair thrives. The minute I put the direct heat up and stop using sulfates my hair went stone crazy :nono: I decided a long time ago that I'm going to let my hair do whatever it wants to do. I refuse to fight with hair!

No, it doesn't! I did conditioner+mayo treatments almost every week. Everyone says it's too much protein and my hair will suffer. Well, it did, but not in the way that people said. My hair became too soft. It would stretch too much before snapping. It was exactly the symptoms people say for over moisturizing, while they were saying it was too much protein.

I'm also not a big fan of "moisturizing". It does not help. It. Does. Not. Help. All it does is cause my hair to shrink up and tangle on itself. Which would be just fine if I was trying to grow myself some healthy dreadlocks. My loose hair needs to be lubricated, not moist.

Frankly, I'm starting to get pretty convinced that healthy hair needs very little, if anything at all. As long as you aren't damaging it with harsh chemicals, it's generally fine.
