Well guys, I tried.
I HAD been transitioning since January of this year, but because I was finding my hair too hard to maintain, I RELAXED TODAY... and boy am pleased with the results! :yay:

I prayed before I went to the salon because I rarely have good experiences with stylists got a lye relaxer (by Designer Touch) a treatment and a trim.

I had always used no lye (for at least 10 years) and I cannot believe the difference the lye relaxer made to my hair. Instead of feeling dry, my hair is now soft... and it moves ya'll! :lachen:

Well, I was at APL, but because my ends were thin, frizzy and brittle, I decided to let the stylist trim my ends. I'm still happy I decided to sacrifice some length because I think my ends look SSOOOOOO MUCH BETTER, thicker and healthier.

BEEEEEEAAAAUTIFUL!!!

Wow your hair looks so amazingly healthy and your ends look great. Such an improvement! My stylist used to use Designer's Touch on my hair, I really like that relaxer. But I can't seem to find it out here, so now I'm using Silk Elements Mild.

Hi I am a newbie here and I am transitioning and it is difficult :wallbash: at times for me as well. Looking at photos of your newly relaxed hair makes me want to relax again:drunk:.

You have made great growth progress and it is very healthy looking.

Gurrrl, vesta, I'm so proud of your progress and I wish you continued success in reaching all your hair goals honey.

Aaaah, thanx guys!
:thankyou:all so much for your help and advice... now I really do think I can achieve my hair goals :).

Thanks for posting the pictures!! Glad the stylist ordeal worked for ya!! Your hair looks absolutely wonderfull!!!

Your hair is proof going without relaxer for long period of time means longer hair. Excellent progess!

Your hair looks great! And congrats on a 10 month stretch. That's amazing, especially since I'm over here complaining about 8 weeks of NG, lol.

Very, very nice! Excellent progress! Now that you've relaxed, just use those skills that you've acquired over the past 10 months to maintain your hair, to grow stronger and longer!

Vesta:

Your results are why I went back to the stylist and lye-based relaxers. I can really tell the difference in my hair.

Just beautiful. Did you have any breakage while transitioning? I was thinking of stretching my relaxer until June 2009. What kinds of hair styles did you wear? Do you prefer Lye over no -lye? Questions, questions, I've got questions.
