Beautiful! You've made wonderful progress. Your transition ending up giving your hair a much needed stretch:yep:, congratulations.

GORGEOUS!!! I love it. What was/is your regimen?

Thankyou! When I first started taking care of my hair in March, I started hiding my hair with wigs. I washed with Ayurveda powders twice a week after prepoo'ing with Amla/Brahmi oils and after every wash I put my hair in box plaits to wear under my wigs.
I kept the Ayurveda thing up from April to July and the wig regimen from March up until two days ago... I think I want a break from the wigs right now, so I may just start bunning.
After July, I used conventional shampoos... (Creme of Nature or Elasta QP) and I used any conditioner afterwards.

I was strictly deep conditioning twice a week after my Ayurveda washes with a mixture of DC's... ORS Hair Mayo, Dark and Lovely Hair Cholesterol, Elasta QP, cheapie store conditioners.

After I stopped the Ayurveda, I stopped deep conditioning so often and it fell to about once every four weeks... i know i need to get back on track .

Also, my prepoo's consisted of a 10 to 15 minutes head massage!

I used different essential oils in my prepoo's and deep conditioner such as rosemary, peppermint and tea tree oils.

From April through to July I was also taking Silica, Vitamin B Complex, Flaxseed and MSM.

Basically since July, my regimen became really simple, and I just hid my hair with wigs and baggied at night.
I've been baggying every night since March.

In July, I got a new job which has made me very busy. Hence, I have sort of fallen off my regimen which was working really well. I will get back on the Ayurveda and vitamins though. I'm pretty convinced that they both made a difference to my hair growth and retention.

Oh yeah, for the most part I moisturise and seal twice a day.

Hope that helped!

Just beautiful. Did you have any breakage while transitioning? I was thinking of stretching my relaxer until June 2009. What kinds of hair styles did you wear? Do you prefer Lye over no -lye? Questions, questions, I've got questions.

I had very little breakage, because I only wore wigs, so not much manipulation.

I DEFINATELY prefer LYE. I used to self relax and have tried a few different no lye brands. No lye dried my hair out, but all box relaxers were no lye. From now on I think I will be getting my stylist (:yay: YES I'VE FINALLY FOUND A GREAT STYLIST :yay:) to do my hair with lye.
My hair is so much softer now, looks healthier and is a better relaxed texture than with the lye :yep:.

Your hair is proof going without relaxer for long period of time means longer hair. Excellent progess!

:yep:. ITA. I'll be stretching my relaxers from now on.

Thanks for posting the pictures!! Glad the stylist ordeal worked for ya!! Your hair looks absolutely wonderfull!!!

So am I... I was really worried... so worried, I prayed... TWICE! :look:

I also wanted to say that if your ends are thin/see through like mine were and you know you need a trim don't be afraid to sacrifice some length.

I don't miss the 1 (or 2 inches in some places) at all and my hair looks a lot fuller now. Hopefully, I will maintain the health of my ends now and it will grow out thicker/fuller.

I really didn't want to trim and hadn't trimmed in about 6 years , but I'm SSSSSOOOOO happy I did and I will be doing so more often. :yep:

Well guys, I tried.
I HAD been transitioning since January of this year, but because I was finding my hair too hard to maintain, I RELAXED TODAY... and boy am pleased with the results! :yay:

I prayed before I went to the salon because I rarely have good experiences with stylists got a lye relaxer (by Designer Touch) a treatment and a trim.

I had always used no lye (for at least 10 years) and I cannot believe the difference the lye relaxer made to my hair. Instead of feeling dry, my hair is now soft... and it moves ya'll! :lachen:

Well, I was at APL, but because my ends were thin, frizzy and brittle, I decided to let the stylist trim my ends. I'm still happy I decided to sacrifice some length because I think my ends look SSOOOOOO MUCH BETTER, thicker and healthier.

It's way thicker, and looks super healthy. And despite the trim, you still have some good growth there! Congrats.

You made great progress sweetie! I saw the DT relaxer in a local bss here but haven't heard of many people using it. Your results are beautiful!

Thick, full and healthy! Great job! I am currently doing a 1 year transition and I hope I get the same results!

Thanks for sharing!
