Does anybody recommend clarifying your hair and then doing a henna gloss? My hair has thinned out in the back right down the middle. Trying to stop hair shedding and trying to thicken my hair.

I always clarify before I henna, to be sure there is nothing blocking the henna from getting to my hair.
I also always, always, always do a deep moisture DC afterwards, as well. :yep:

Thank you very much.

Hi Hurricane :D

If your hair is thinning, stripping it of moisture (clarifying) and then applying henna (the mud is heavy and can lead to more shedding if you're not careful while rinsing) which also strips your hair of oils may not be such a good idea. I never poo before henna and I get stellar results. And yes, be sure to DT immediately after.

Thanks. I actualy thought the same thing so I clarified tonight deep conditioned with Leklair's shea butter and mango, then sealed with coconut oil. I am going to do a patch test with the henna and see how that comes out first. I may henna sometime next month. I have to cover some grey strands. I have the Jamila. I heard it was a good brand. How long do you leave your henna on. Just curious. You don't have to answer there is a henna thread that is extra, extra long.

Oh your hair is sooo pretty and thick

I leave my henna in overnight out of pure laziness. I usually apply it around 7pm...eat, watch tv, and read. I'm off to sleep around 10 or 11pm and I wake up around 8am. I suppose its usually in for about 12 hours, sometimes longer. I just hate doing the application and rinsing in one day- its quite messy, and quite annoying, but the results are amazing! I've been henna'ing for a year now and my hair is thicker than its ever been.

Jamila is the ONLY brand I use. And not just any old Jamila, the bridal art quality (the one that has a date on the bottom and comes in silver packaging). I've tried several types of henna and I consistently get the best results and stain from it.

@Bluenile, thank you!!! You have no idea how good that compliment makes me feel. My hair, thick?! It never has been, but with the tips from this site, nc.com and np.com, my hair has been on the grow-outwards!
