Bastille is a soap makers term, I apologize for not explaining the meaning of bastille versus castille soap. Bastille soap is usually any soap with less than 50% olive oil and Castille is either 100% olive oil soap or at least 80% olive oil soap to be considered a true castille soap.

Dr. Bronners must be diluted if you are using on hair based on its ingredients list. It list coconut first, which is very drying (well actually not in all cases, it depends on the particular recipe). The end result of the DB soap is a high PH level, hence the citric acid to try and reduce it some. DB plays up the labels on their products. Not saying its not a good product though but just letting you know of the play on labels.

Thanks for explaining that to me. :up: Which company makes true Castile soap? or is all of them the bastille version of castile soap? :perplexed I didn't notice til now that DB castile soap ingredients mentioned the word "other" which makes me wonder what ELSE is in there? :blush:

Well when looking for castille soap just look at the ingredients it should say olive oil or olive oil and some other type of oil but with olive oil listed first. I am not saying the other versions of castille are bad but that its just a play on words. Its actually regular cp or hp soap. Remember its either 100% olive oil or at least 80% olive oil ( I have seen some that are 75%). I dont prefer 100% castille soap because it has a slimy-ish feel to it. I prefer 80% OO.:yep:
 
i bought one of those little 2 oz bottles of dr. bronner's almond castille soap... and diluted it by pouring the entire bottle into a 3/4 full bottle of trader joe's nourish conditioner... the smell combination is heavenly! i love my new "shampoo"!
 
I currently have

Dr. Bronner's Lavendar

Dr. Woods Liquid black soap and his Almond castile soap.

The almond DOES smell good!

I didn't like it as shampoo though.
 
I just started using the Peppermint soap and first was using it for my hair due to itchy scalp from using CON, now I use it for my pedicures, and now showers! It's the best soap I use so far! It's not drying, very cooling on my scalp and body! And this may seem strange but it made my NG softer and I'm about 3 weeks post!

I wanna try the almond and new Rose castile by Dr. bronner!

P.S. I notice if you don't dilute the soap when shampooing it makes your hair shed!
 
When I went to the Healthstore, I couldn't believe it when I saw the Dr Bronners so I bought the Lavender. I mainly use the Lavender for personal hygiene and shampooing my hair. I was so impressed with it that I went back and bought the Almond and Rose scents. I bought the 16oz bottles so they should last at least a good while. I was going on so much about it to my bro that he said he would try some and he loves it too. They smell heavenly and leave you feeling refreshed.
 
I went to the store yesterday and noticed that they have a Black Soap version....we are running out so I'm going to try that flavor next.

Clean bodies, clean clothes and clean house!! I :love: Castile Soap!!!
 
I love Dr. Bonner's Castile Soap!

I LOVE the almond one.

I use it as:
a bodywash-I feel extra clean
a facial cleanser-the peppermint is too drying for my face
a wool rug cleaner-I had a stain in my oriental rug and it said that it was safe for wool and it worked!
for my dental hygiene-yes I brushed my teeth with it. I read the reviews on Amazon and people mentioned brushing their teeth with it so I tried it. My teeth were clean but I missed the minty after-taste of tooth paste.
laundry detergent-I added it to my laundry along with the regular detergent for some extra cleaning power. I love the smell of gain and tide so I couldn't bring myself to completely eliminate them
shampoo-it really clarified my hair and was very drying. I had to deep condition under the dryer just to be able to detangle my hair:nono:
But I didn't know it had to be diluted first.

I buy mine from whole foods or from Beauty 4 U (a bss)
 
Dr. Bronner's has a bunch of scents: perppermint, rose, lavender, almond, tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus, and mild for baby. I've tried the peppermint, lavender, and almond so far. If I can find the rest locally I'll definitely be trying those too! They also have a formulation called sal suds which is supposed to be for household use.

I always DC before shampooing so this must really help because so far my hair feels moisturised afterwards. I don't dilute it but use about a teaspoon worth and lather it before using. I also do an ACV rinse always after using a shampoo.
 
I use the peppermint castile soap from Trader Joe's on my body and my hair when I feel like I need a shampoo (which isn't often). It helps to wake me up in the morning. I really want to try the almond now, though. It sounds yummy! :lick:
 
I loooove Almond, but just started using Peppermint two days ago and love that one too! :yep:
 
i LOVE the almond. smells heavenly. i mix this in with whatever cheapie conditioner i'm using at the moment, for a really yummy cowash experience :yep:
 
thank you ladies for this post i remember my grandma use to always have it around i always pick up a bottle because it is like 20 bucks where i live but i did not know that it had so may different ways to use it!!!! off to get mine this weekend!!!!!!!!!
 
I just bought the peppermint and the almond bars a few days ago and it was love at first lather. I haven't tried it in liquid form yet. I will be trying the lavender next.

As for the bars, if you have a Kroger near you, they are cheaper there. I bought the peppermint bar at Target for $4.19 and then found them at Kroger for $3.39. That's 80 cents difference.
 
soo exactly how would I dilute this so that I could use it as shampoo

This is a great post! I recently started using the lavender one. I love the smell. I bought it to use as a shampoo and body wash. I didn't realize you can use it to clean your home as well. I'm going to use it for that purpose as well now.
