I heard it was until her business went "commercial" and expanded:perplexed. i think her products were of better quality when she first arrived on the scene. There were a lot of LHCFers back in '03 always raving about her products. Now her products are getting dogged right and left:look:
I think youre right.

I used her stuff back in '02 and it was strait.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :lachen::lachen:

I'm also going to say that only 1 product worked for me..everything else is overrated.

If yall watch and hear me on tv just be ready :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Tis all...

For some reason I can see you doing that...for some reason.:lachen:

Also, let them know for me that I think her/their products basically SUCK!

Thanks.

This is so funny - just this past week there was a similar discussion on Afrobella about CD's hair products. The general consensus there was also that the products are not up to par. Read more here:

I too agree that the products suck although I respect the business behind it. The question is....if none of us are buying it, how the heck is that woman making all this money????

Because she got folks thinking that if Jada P. Smith, Mary J. Blige, Brad Pitt and countless other celebrity black folk are using it then it must be good.

Endorsing and using a product are two different things.

:yep: I loved me some Carol's Daughter when it first came out. LOVED it. Loved how it smelt, loved how it made my hair feel - she was my introduction into the world of natural products.

*thinks* I think my last order was some time in late '03/early '04? And the stuff was different - I let the last of it go rancid under my sink because it just wasn't the same. *sigh* :nono:

I ain't knocking the sis for making her money - I'm just sad that it's not as high quality as it used to be.

And on the real, it's better than Dax. :lachen:

I am going to call after yall and suggest Hairveda, shescentit, qhemet, oyin, etc.......
I'm not a big CD fan ( money ill spent) but I think it's mean to try to shame some one (a sista or otherwise but ESPECIALLY a sista who is just tryin to do her thing)publicly that has done nothing to you personally . When I am displeased with a product, I either send it back, call customer service, write a letter to the company and never purchase the product again.

Karma is B

Ya'll really gonna do that to her like that?:nono:

I dunno, even though her products may not be all that, does she really deserve a national diss?

It's just me...continue on ladies.

Been there done that! One service rep got straight Brooklyn with my sister and all but cursed her out when she called and complained.

They get uspet with ME because I'm calling and complaining? WTF?

All those complaints and she's still in business. Karma is a B though like u said.

When I was transitioning i bought the hair milk with my Sephora gift card that i got for my grad present....

I am upset... Wait til I see Carol or her daughter:angry2:... someone need to throw $20 back on my darn giftcard

yeah i dont like her stuff either, except for the almod cookie shea butter, I saw her in New Orleans for Essence Festival and her hair was really pretty, so I asked her what she do to her hair and she said oh I just put hair milk in it and I said thats it, no twist out, and she said no just hair milk and she brushed me off. lol. I started laughing because I know she was lying... oh and i ordered some stuff online and they chared me twice and sent two shipments and I called and it took forever for them to take it off my card they said that they would put it on my card once they receive the second shipment, im like its your fault for sending the second shipment and i haven't even received the first shipment....

Me and my sis ordered some stuff, got charged, wondered where the hell it was, called CD and they said yeah, it got shipped back to us cause it was damaged.

Well why didnt u call and tell us that?!! They said they only call customers on certain days of the week. WTF? They were just sitting there with OUR product, credit card charged and was just waitin around til WE had to call them and demand them to repackage and ship back out.

You had to follow behind them just to make sure u got your stuff right.

well to keep up with the mass production and to keep prices reasonable they prob added cheaper fillers and less quality "natural stuff" to the products. The same thing happened with those blended beauty products:perplexed I heard it wasnt the same after murumuru butter was taken out and replaced with a cheaper butter or something to that effect. But $$ has to be made so...:look: You give me a huge multimillion deal to get out of my tiny kitchen and tell me that Jada and Brad will be endorsing my hair products you damn right Ill throw some mineral oil and petroleum in the mix to make my profits:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Well damn when you bring to me like that I say ca-ching and go skip to the bank Carole's momma! :lachen:

I was a big supporter of CD years ago. Mind you, I could go into the Brooklyn store and browse and sniff and I believe the total experience helped make me a big fan. I haven't been to the Harlem store, but the one in Brooklyn had a very nice vibe (except during holiday sales).

The main allure was that it was a fairly NEW thing: creating hair products out of natural raw ingredients, selecting scents that were out of the box (I could give Ocean anything to anybody as a gift and they loved it), catering all this toward folks of color, etc. etc.

Thing is, now it's fairly common. Add to this, folks on the hairboard are sort of OVEReducated when it comes to raw ingredients: we order butters and oils and silk proteins DIRECT when the majority of folks (of any color) are content to buy off the shelf and not question the ingredients for the most part.

We're jaded when it comes to all of it. LOL! Whereas some folks are just discovering shea butter, we've branched off to some other butter of the moment.

She's making money aplenty and will continue to do so because the average American woman will find her products "exotic", "unique", etc. It'll seem fresh to HSN viewers just not hairboarders.

I have bought Candypaint out of Sephora and am always tempted by Healthy Hair Butter because it was alll of that for twists back in the day, but I always resist since I have too many raw ingredients sitting at home to justify the purchase. Plus, it doesn't smell the same or feel quite the same (this from dabbling in the tester). I'd buy HairMilk if it didn't abhor the scent.

I wish her luck on HSN. :)

Naw!! They nip that ish in the bud :lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: Especially if you have an ethnic name like mine :lachen::lachen::lachen:

That is why you play it real cool and nice at first...tell them you just HAVE to rave about the product...OMG it was heaven...blazay squazay THEN when they put you on the air and they say "Hi, we've got Mary Beth from Salt Lake. Mary Beth have you tried the Hair Milk?" Then you say really fast...

"yesididitsuckedanditleftmyhairhardandgreasyanditain'tworthshat."

Then you hang up before they do it...DONE.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: Say it as fast as someone making a collect call and leaving a message in the space where they are supposed to say their name :lachen::lachen:

One time they were doing this show with this iron. Girl, the iron just looked like a regular 'ol Walmart iron. So they started taking calls. Why did this woman call in and start going off about how the iron worked fine for about a year then it just died? Then she said the company wouldn't replace it or fix it and yada yada yada yada...

Girl, why did they look sooooo caught off guard? Next thing you know that call got the CLANK CLANK and the lady was still talking! You know I was laying on the bed like this:lachen::lachen:.

As fast as I can talk I would get a whole paragraph in about 'ol Lisa's greasy, tacky, pungent products.

...and don't get me to even talking about he selling out!
