Share the secret/technique. I've never figured it out. Mine look a mess (the one time i did it)

What I do when I do the mohawk method is that I take one of those fine tooth combs with the pick, and using the pick side I part my hair in a band down the middle(i measure with the roller making sure that the width of the band is the same width as the roller). Then I part that band in a section from the top to the forehead, in my case that is about 3 rollers (purple magnetic rollers) Before I put on the rollers I gather the sides with a clip, both sides so that leaves the center part (the mohawk) free to roll. I use the duckbill clips.
I put on the first three rollers and then I continue to the back, I have layers and my nape area is a bit broken off, so I use smaller rollers in the nape area.
When my mohawk is done, then I do the sides on the temples, gathering the rest of the hair with a clip, and when I'm done with the sides, I do the back beween the mowahk and my ears using smaller and bigger rollers accordingly. The key is for the hair to be sopping wet, so I use my spray bottle.
So, to recap, in my case, using a pick makes it very easy, that and lots of patience and practice.

^^Got it. Thanks!!

Any other techniques?

I always used to wonder about this as well. It's the reason why I felt that I couldn't rollerset. BUT thanks to Cleve_gyrl (who I haven't seen around lately) :bighug:, I'm rollersetting a lot more. She told me to not worry about the straight rows. :wallbash:*Why didn't I think of that?*

I also do the mohawk technique, but I don't worry about if my parts are straight. It won't matter when I take out the rollers and style my hair. I just make sure the hair is the right amount to fit on the roller that I'm using, and other than that, I'm set.

HTH!

At the bolded:

Do you think you could explain how to figure that out? That's my biggest problem, making the parts correctly. TIA!

um..I usually just use a rat tail comb to make the parts, and they come out pretty straight. I did a tutorial on roller setting, that seems to be helping quite a few ladies the link is below.

What kind of rollers are you using? I use the magnetic rollers, and it's just a "feel" for me. If I want tighter curls, then I use the smaller rollers (the red ones), and less hair in each section.

So, I guess the way that I do it, the bigger the roller = the thicker the section. Of course you make sure that if you're parting the hair that the width across isn't more than the width of the roller. I hope that makes sense.

GABeauty and Lorraine,

Thank you for your responses.

To answer your question I alternate between mesh and magnetic rollers. I guess I just get impatient and sometimes don't always make decent sized parts. That does make sense though, depending on the size of the roller and how much hair is put on it.

Thanks again!
