If so what were your results? Did you go from one milestone to the next? Please share your experience and if you would do it again?

the bulk of my regimen consists of bunning and co-washing.

i cw and bun about 99.9% of the time (i cw 6 days per week and bun EVERY day).

i haven't noticed any significant growth, but it definitely helps keep my hair moisturized and my ends protected.

hth!

ot: your hair is very pretty! :yep:

This is pretty much my reggie.
I've been doing this since I joined and I think I have good reults. I joined at past shoulder and am now apl.
I'm going to continue with this until I reach BSL, then I may wear my hair out a bit more.

ETA- My hair stays moisturized and my ends are protected.

I can't WAIT to do this - I think my hair will LOVE it.
I'm low-mani'ing by weekly styling my way to this point - I think by the time the winter hits, I should be able to CW & Bun my way to the spring... :yep:

This was my reggie when I first started, but unfortunately, I've fallen off a bit. I need to get back to doing that again...

I bun mostly for more than 6 months mostly fall & winter and I get great growth from bunning for long periods of time. That article was very inspirational and that's what I would read over and over and over to inspire me to continue bunning. So far it has definintely worked and I'm going to continue bunning until I reach my ultimate goal of MBL.

Ohh sorry, I don't co-wash, I wash my hair once a week and deep condition with heat, that's enough manipulation for me. I try do keep the manipulation to a minimum..

I would love to co/wash and bun but my hair is just grazing shoulder length and super thin. My bun looks very skimp, esp. when my hair is wet. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what do you do?

I did it for like two years straight. I retained a lot of length. I use shampoo these days, but I'm still doing mostly protective styles.

I do it. I've done it consistenly for 5 months now and I've gotten some good growth. My plan is to do it for the remainder of the year.

bun and co-wash is all i have been doing since November. I have gained great length. I suffered a major setback in November, and wearing buns allowed me to grow the hair i had to cut off. See my fotki. I will continue to wear buns everyday until August. I will post progess pics then. i plan to be a little past waist

Tsturnbu inspired me to start doing this after I read her thread: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=232507

I realized, that pre-LHCF, I had actually been doing this by accident. When my mom became ill, (she was a beautician) and I moved away from my relatives, (my aunt is also a beautician and used to own an shop with my mom) I had nobody I trusted to do my hair, so I "stretched" my relaxer for the first time for almost an entire year. Finally, I self-relaxed with a no-lye and it gave me some manageability. I didn't get a trim that entire time, so I used to just put my hair into a bun every day. I continued this for about 2 years, and combined with 2 pregnancies, (lazy when pregnant lol) I gained and retained a lot of length, even with a few haircuts in-between (my aunt is scissor happy, imagine that )

Now, after reading that thread, I decided to try it "for real" to retain. Growth happens super easy for me, its just retention that I need. If I could retain all the length from now until Dec. I will be MBL, heading to WL, especially with my summer growth spurts and the OT challenge that I joined last week...

I've been doing this for 15 months and my hair has really thrived. It's growing at the same rate as always but it's just so healthy and moisturized.

By far, CW has been the most beneficial thing I have gained from this board.

I really, really want to do this but I'm worried about my ends. I don't want them to get a little worn down and break or anything

For the ladies who have done it for awhile, do you ever give your hair a break from it?

Daily co-washing & wearing buns are the most protective thing you can do for your hair... if you wear them too tight it can be harsh on your edges/temple...
and too tight buns can break your off at the middle... but if done right... your ends should always be protected in hidden... you shouldn't be worried at all about your ends...

I want to do this, but my hair has a hard time being detangled while it is wet. I am four months post on my year stretch/transition (not sure yet). so the newgrowth is very unruly and thick. Everytime I cowash and bun, I get a lot of breakage detangling. I hennaed my hair today and after washed and condition, but I left the conditioner in, detangled with a wide tooth comb and had less breakage. I guess I just have to figure out the best way to deal with my hair while cowashing.

I haven't seen that thread before, but that's pretty much my regimen. I'll put my hair in either a twisted bun or a braided bun.

I'm going to go back and read that thread later, whew!

ETA: I do plan to continue doing this until I reach WL.

I do not think that I have done it for 6 months straight. It does make a difference though if it is done consistently for a while.

Why don't you start a challenge, "Bun and Co/wash nonstop for 6mths" :scratchch . I would join that for fun. Add me to the list if you start one

I co wash and bun a lot... so much that dh offers to pay for me to go to the stylist... i go to the stylist, wear my hair down for a few days and back up it goes!!! i keep telling him I am trying to get to bsl!!!

I bun...well.....baggie and co wash every other day and my hair loves it. I started doing this when I first joined and have been doing it since. I'll help you with your challenge. Remember the Hide Your Hair challenges? Basically we hid our hair for 6 months at a time and the ladies progress was amazing......

Oh, and I"ll join if YOU start it....
