Some things in this thread are concerning me.

If you, yourself, feel UNCOMFORTABLE about using anything - please, don't use it, or figure out a way to use it that doesn't bother you.

I'd hate for people to follow others off of a bridge they aren't comfy jumping off of, if they were alone, ya know?

My scalp is sore, sometimes, after using it, but really, it doesn't concern me. But then, my scalp also gets sore from combing my hair, so that might be why it doesn't seem like a huge danger sign.

I know we are all impatient, but please temper the impatience with wisdom, eh? :yep:

okay, i won't say that no more

i'm thinking the pain is because of how much was being used. If you cut it down to 2 -3 times per week I'm sure the pain will subside. I experienced that same pain, to the point I could hardly touch my scalp so I washed my hair and didn't use it for about a week then started back up but only using it 2 -3 times at the most, now the pain I experience is only when I need a touch up.

YES I THINK THIS IS BETTER, IF I USE AGAIN ILL DO IT AS ADVISED.

Sweetie, nothing should be concerning u, and if people want to JUMP of the mt then thats up to them, its good to disuss this ok!

I am not saying i want to stop using it all together, we are talking to get other peoples opinions! thought this was what the site was for...!

This is worrying me. I see a lot of post where people have the itches and huge shedding and pain. I have only been using MT a week and I haven't experienced any of these things. Except a little extra shedding. So I was concerned that it wasn't working. My hair was underprocessed before and since it's only been a week I don't believe I have ng, but roots seem to be reverting and they may be giving me the illusion of thicker hair or either it is thicker. I don't have dry hair and I have been applying every night, but I do moisturize my hair twice daily and I dc 2 times a week. This is my regular routine and I will stick to it unless I need a change. I was wondering how long before you noticed the negative effects?

Exactly. I believe some people are going overboard with the product in a rush to acquire GREAT lengths BEFORE they use it as instructed by the manufacturer.

When adverse reactions manifest, then they throw the product under the bus.

I was using for aroung 2 weeks before any scalp pain came, at first it was fine...but perhaps i should not have left it on the scalp. My hair seems ok now...but anything to cause pain to me would be a concern to anyone in their right mind lol.

Of course it's a good idea to discuss this, and were you saying jump on or jump off? Either way, it's cool with me, of course! Your hair, your choice.

I have concern because ya'll are my sisters in hair, and some are having difficulties.... no more, no less.

I am with you on this worrying part. This is my second week and for me it is the best thing. I got the rehydrant spray with it and it is wonderful. Maybe the rehydrant spray factors into the moisture becuase the manufacturer made the product to work with the MT. I know that some people are using the Avocodo spray with success as well..

I think you are right to slow down if it is hurting your head. Just keep us posted and take care of your hair. You know they always say, what works for some people do not work for others. I am going to use it for a while and will be doing the same thing if I have any adverse affects...:yep:

never heard of the pain, but my scalp itched like crazy for the first week.

if anyone wants me buy there MT, I will be more than happy

PM Me

I tried mega-tek last summer and had a horrible reaction to it. My face (especially my hairline), chest, and arms broke out in tiny itchy bumps! Although my face is now clear, I still have what look like mild burn marks on my chest and arms. After the reaction I read the ingredients and saw that marine protein was an ingredient. I'm allergic to shellfish ( I assume something connected to idione) so that only connection I can make is that my skin reacted to the marine protein. This occurred with the very first use! That episode significantly slowed down my bandwagon jumping!

Why you never tick de poll gal

My scalp actually gets sore from normal hair growth - no growth aids involved. It happened to me both when natural, also when relaxed, and then now with transitioning and it always coincides with a growth spurt so the tenderness (I wouldn't really call it "pain" persay)was not a concern for me. It just makes my scalp massages feel even better!

And to anyone questioning the actual growth capacity - at least for some folks - should take a look at the info, check out the updates thread, and then make their own decision. Some ladies have had definite undeniable success and faster growth with the product. Will it work for everyone? Probably not, but you can't negate that it works for some. And I have seen several naturals also have success with it, so I don't buy that it's just "reversion"

JMHO

I was not responding directly to you, but I see that there are several relaxed heads who aren't sure if they're experiencing actual growth, or reversion, and so my comment was a response to that.

There is no harm in talking...

No pain only gain here and I only use it 2 x per week. I wash with WEN, DC with WEN and then put in MTR mixed with water and leave it in until next wash.

This is just my opinion, but please STOP using any product if it is casuing a strong physical reactions like PAIN!

We all get super excited when someone post their before and after photos, but please rememeber that each person body is different.
You could be having a allergic reaction.

PAIN is never a good sign!

Been using it since March and the first two weeks had some itchies and a little soreness and since then....NO PROBLEMS!

I too think its the way some are using it. I'm having thickness and growth, more than I had when I wasn't using anything at all.

If you feel uncomfortable not using it, my suggestion is....stop using it.

Hope everyone have a great Fourth of July weekend!

well i cant exactly stop it from touching some parts of the hair...i co washed on a regular basis and after washing it still felt stiff.:nono:

Here-in lies your problem right there with the split ends. I started co-washing long before I started using Mega Tek and my hair ends started to split from then, so I slowed down to once a week only instead of 3-4 days a week.

I got the following from an article found on braidsbybreslin.com and here is the actual link to it: http://www.braidsbybreslin.com/article/publish/article_147.shtml.

"Don't overdo things - It's not necessary to wash your hair daily. Three to four times a week with a mild shampoo will do. Don't overuse conditioners, as they damage your hair and cause split-ends."

I guess this is one proof that anything done excessively is bad for you in one way or another.

I'm not sure how quickly this product works, but I'm pretty sure no one is getting a inch of new growth after only 4 applications. From all the progress pics and good reviews I'm sure that it does work. On me at this point in time after only using the product only 4 times I'm pretty sure I am having reversion.

I agree with CD that every one is different and you could possibly be experiencing an allergic reaction to the MT and if that is the case, you should stop imediately.

I on the other hand have been having great success with my MT which I mixed with castor and grapeseed oils, some BB oil moisturizer and essential oils. My scalp was slightly tender at first from the fast growth, but it's adjusted already and the tenderness is now gone but it's still growing very fast.

Now on a side note - what will you be doing with your MT? If you're gonna be dumping it - I have a better idea - you could send it to me instead:grin:.

Okay I'm confused. How is it possible for chemically altered hair to revert? I am not trying to be sarcastic - I actually really want to know. I mean, if this was possible how come it's not possible to cause the entire head of relaxed hair to revert back to it's natural state? And if this was the case, this would probably be a transitioner's dream come true, right?

I realize that the MT may cause the hair to kink up a bit but that's only until the hair is washed again, at least, this is what I have been experiencing so far. Once washed then I could clearly see that my hair hasn't actually reverted but it had kinked up a bit post MT application. After washing my hair I see that the roots are somewhat smooth as they should be after a relaxer. For sure, 4 applications could not grow the hair that fast but I'm not convinced that the relaxed hair actually reverts.

Can someone please clear this up for me:perplexed?
