I have stopped using Mega Tek for a while, the dry hair was too much and was causing split ends also the scalp hurts.

Has anyone else stopped and why?:ohwell::drunk:

So sorry that you had to stop using it.. Have you tired to increase the moisture in your hair to counteract the dryness? I would also recommend lots of DC.

I completely understand I would not take the risk either but to get your hair back in condition prior the Mega Tek I would get a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and then I would do some deep conditioning with heat and your hair will be back soft and in order.

IMO castor oil is really thick and it doesn't offer that much moisture and the mango butter creme is good and moisturizing when used on wett hair.

Thank you for your advice, but what is the pain all about...i know i am not the only one that has experience pain...that cant be right SURLY?

Month #7 and going strong! Although I'm not as consistent with use as I once was.

ETA: When I use it every day it makes my scalp sore. Reducing the frequency to
3X/week made a big difference. I also just switched to MT. I'm starting itch again
but so far so soreness and no shedding.

never heard of the pain, but my scalp itched like crazy for the first week.

if anyone wants me buy there MT, I will be more than happy

PM Me

I've been using it for about 4 months - only consistently for about 2.5 out of those four though.

No pain - my scalp might be a little sore after I finish massaging, but it's an equivalent sort of sore that I feel after exercise - indicates something is working, but isn't a danger sign, in my personal estimation.

Sorry that you had so many issues with it, but you know your own head & limits best! :yep:

Still no problem with my Ovation. Not an itch, no pain, just improved conditioned, longer hair.

I don't appy to the scalp everyday and night like most ladies are doing.

I use mine as a treatment or daily wash routine. I suspect that some ladies cannot massage into the scalp daily and leave it in.

I had to slow down on the OCT as well because I had started experiencing tender scalp. As the OT suggested to me also cutting down on the days HELP TREMENDOUSLY!!!!!!!! I started off doing an every day thing, now I don't do it no more than 3 times a week and like JN, i have healthy, longer and thicker hair.

i've noticed my first few split ends this week (week 3 of Megatek) since i've became natural. I dont know if the splits and megatek are related (but i've been thinking about their connection this week). Now i'm even more careful and watchful of my ends. I searched my head, and couldn't find any more splits. My hair is usualy moisturized and protected (water, aloe juice, glyceren mix and castor oil, dc's and cowashes, no heat. etc), so i dont know where the splits came from.

as far as the pain, my scalp has been itchy and pretty tender. I've used it every day (except for 3), and on the days that i forgot, my scalp was still tender from the day before (even after washing it). I guess thats good? means it's working? Also, I've had a few headaches that I blame on the mega tek... dont know how or why it caused it, but i know it came from the MT (for instance, I usually apply mega tek before bed with no problems, but the few times that i've applied it in the morning, i've aquired a headache within the hour)... but from what i know, most other topical growth aides cause headaches as well for some people.... so i guess this goes with the territory.

i'm still going to use it tho. it seems that no growth aid is without its "cons". everybody won't have the same pleasent experience and should do what is right for them. So far, the "pro's" out weigh the "cons" for me, but if the negative ever catch up to the positive, i'd quit too, and i understand why you did so.

I am not sure if i can class what i had as growth, because the roots became very thick...surge does that as well...my hair did grow dispite the issues of a tender scalp and hard hair, but i dont know if people are getting confused with growth and thickness to the scalp and as someone said if there is any chance that mt can clog/or block the pores then its a no no.

i've been wondering about this/feeling the same way as well... I'm going to give it til i run out of MT (have 2 and a half bottles)... I'm taking pics just to be sure, but so far i'm like :ohwell:

Because it's not intended to be used the way some people are using it! :wallbash:
It's supposed to be applied and then rinsed out... not like a hair grease.

Glad someone agrees, i am not sure this can be classed as growth, its just so thick its unbeilevable!

even if you did not just put it on the roots i think it would make the rest of the hair appear thicker.

:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen: i know i started off using it like a crazy woman, that soreness made me slow down

I love this stuff

mine definitely thickened up. I had thin see-through hair, now I just gave myself a touch up last night and you can't see my scalp like you did before.

I'm sorry it didn't do what you wanted to do.

Yes it seems thicker and like my hair has grown...but has it if you stop using will it still appear thick?

Is pain, shedding or itching a good thing?

Itching maybe, but pain!

i wish people would stop saying they are sorry it did not work for me, it might have done...i just dont know if the pain is good...ok i could just leave it in for 5mins then wash it out..then maybe i wont have the pain...but anything that causes pain to my scalp SEEMS NUTS!

It is NUTS and you are right to stop using it. Perhaps you are just allergic to an ingredient or ingredients. No harm, no foul. Carry on!

not sure... i have to tell myself that since i've spent all that money to buy the MT. I keep reading that the tenderness and the itchies are a sign of growth... so i keep telling myself that as well.

I've dyed my hair oriental black last week (bigen), and am watching my newgrowth to see if its growing any faster than usual (and i gotta say, i have seen some natural brown newgrowth already).

So, if my hair really is growing faster, then i guess the tenderness is a good thing... but i still feel kinda :perplexed about it sometimes and get lost in the thought process "is this really good for me, my body or my hair"... then i see before and after photo's and think about my own goals and decide to at least use up what I have and see what happens.. i dont know...:spinning:

okay, i won't say that no more

i'm thinking the pain is because of how much was being used. If you cut it down to 2 -3 times per week I'm sure the pain will subside. I experienced that same pain, to the point I could hardly touch my scalp so I washed my hair and didn't use it for about a week then started back up but only using it 2 -3 times at the most, now the pain I experience is only when I need a touch up.
