My first roller set sucked. Maybe my rollers are too small for beginners. But I have way to many rollers in my hair and I know they aren't wrapped smooth. I am just gonna sit under the dryer and see what happens and keep practicing.UGH I hate hair sometimes.

On top of everything else My hair is shedding like crazy. I can't stop it. i stopped DC every three days because the protein was too much for my hair it left it hard. well now the shedding has begun and it's nasty long hair..what do I do?

I'm sorry you're having a little trouble. my first rollerset sucked too...don't feel bad. mine was probably because my hair was a lil too short still. rollersetting takes practice. keep at it, you'll get better. :yep:

now about the dcing...you said that you stopped every 3 days because the protein was too much...what were you DCing with? every three days is definitely too much if u were using a protein conditioner.

How did you learn how to rollerset? Reading obviously didn't help. I am gonna get that DVD Healthy textures but when I can afford so what do I do now?

don't know. I don't know what moisture cond are...I just recently found out that lustasilk has them so I was gonna buy one of those. Is cholesteral moisturizing?

I would say the best way to get better at roller setting is practicing. My first roller set sucked and I got so annoyed and just let my hair air dry. Every time
roller set i find something new that I can do for a better roller set the next time. I know thats not what you wanted to hear because neither did I but its all in the practice. Good Luck Mama!

Eta: experiment with different roller sizes also, Certain sizes came out better than others when I did it

I feel your pain :needhug:

I've been rollersetting for months and STILL can't get it right :ohwell: I have Macherie's DVD and it helped tremendously, but I still suck :look: I hate doing it, but wanna get better, so I know I have to. Just keep at it, you'll get the hang of it!

About the protein, all proteins aren't bad protein. Silk, wheat and soy proteins help to soften and moisturize your hair. Keratin (there are others but I can't remember them) strengthens and can make your hair hard. A good rule of thumb: If something says it'll stop breakage and/or strengthen your hair, it's a protein conditioner.

Cholesterols are usually pretty god at moisturizing and providing slip. Which one do you have?

Ive had queen and Lustasilk before. I think I will get Lustrasilk because they have variety but I do love the Queen.

Don't feel bad! I didn't get my rollerset right until my lucky number 7th try! I had the macherie DVD too, the only thing different I did was add some setting lotion and it was all good after that.
