Theya re both great on the hair, one simply has a longer shelf life although I think your idea of using it is perfect. The gel would work best on natural hair. You could try sealing the aloe gel with the aloe oil as well. Just an idea.

So, how exactly do you use them? Along with your moisturizer or you create your own moisturizer with this ingredient.

I add the gel to moisturizers and body lotions but the oil, I use it in some of my DC's and I think I will add it to my Mega Tek cell rebuilder mixture that I use on my scalp.

I love and use honeyquat as well. I add approx. half a cap of it to my daily moisturizers, conditioners, my Mega Tek cell rebuilder mix, my co-washes, and my water spritzer that I use on my hair. For every 10oz bottle of conditioner or water, the recommendation is to add from a 1/4 to 1/2 an ounce of honeyquat - this is the easiest way I measure it based on the lotioncrafter.com instructions. HTH

I got mine in the mail Tuesday and I used it once. I read that using it over time gets you the best results. My moisture balance is excellent right now becasue of aloe mainly so anything else will be gravy. I think aloe and honeyquat will be winners for you too since you are transitioning. mix the two in a spray bottle with some distilled water if you are wearing a non-straightened protective style. You will get moisture without buildup. If you straighten use it as a leave in and seal with a light oil like sweet almond or jojoba if it's not too heavy for ya! That's my humble recomendation. Put it in your DC condishs too!

There are may options with aloe as it comes in gel or juice form. I have used both with simular results. I like juice now because I can get it into my spray bottle easier...no big deal. I just make sure it's 99% or more pure. They usually have something like 99.7 % with the .03 being food grade preservatives. I get the food grade aloe. You can drink it too, it has numerous health benefits.

I love Aggie's idea of using the aloe gel and sealing with the aloe oil, that's will likely be the jam right there!!! My hair will be like

FNWL is the only place I know of to get the oil for sure, but I make it a one stop shop and get other products as well, etc, and I think they give lhcf members a discount too. To be sure check the Discount Sticky on the front page and BTW I have the regular aloe oil.

I usually add a capful per oz of whatever I'm mixing up - my hair loves it, and loved it, even in the winter - though I did find that I got better results using it on dry hair in the winter - as it's gotten more humid, the hair doesn't seem to care either way.

I'm debating on adding that aloe vera oil to my wish list now - my hair is so funny about oils!

No, I don't. I don't know what I was doing wrong, if I just had the wrong kind, if my body chemistry is off, or what, but EVERYTIME I use aloe vera gel, it turns into water in my hair. Icky.

Honey Quat can be found on www.lotioncrafter.com. Yes you can add glycerine to leave-ins, moisturizers and DCs. Now because you are natural, I really recommend the honey quat more so than the glycerine especially if you're using mega tek. If the glycerine is all you have right now, use it until you get the honey quat, okay?

I agree, if I had to choose I'd get the HQ - better value. You can always get aloe juice and keep it in the fridge..I keep my spray bottle in there...It will give you a cold head and extra shine....LOL

Or you could add some HQ it might help preserve the Aloe. I only put a little at a time in the sprayer and leave the big bottle in the fridge.

In my spritz, I have filtered water, glycerine, castor oil and panthenol, along with a little bit of Megatek rebuilder. Makes my hair soft and moisturised and even seems to have a smoothing effect.

I use castor oil in my rollersetting spray. It's awesome. And the shine you get is out of this world. Just be careful not to use too much since it's really thick.

I have one of those little spray bottles (since I am trying to figure out the best ingredients for my rollersetting spray), so, how do I know how much to use? And since the CO provides shine; does that mean that I don't need to buy Lacio Lacio?

What do you add to your mixes to keep it from separating (if you add oil)?

I tried adding oil to my mix already but I threw the mix away cause it was clogging up the nozzleerplexed.

I have all of these goodies this sounds excellent... I will make my next moisture spritz out of this blend. I may throw in a qurit of aloe for good measure. I need to start writing this stuff down.....

I did not know that!!!! Hrrrm. I wonder if that's why it helps your eyelashes get thicker? Hrrrrmm!!! Very interesting. I'll have to start using my castor oil more.

I've never used Lacio Lacio so I have no idea. But I have like an 8 oz spray bottle and I put about a tablespoon in there and shake it up - since the oil and water will separate.
