Moisturizing gels?

I can name two gels that I know are moisturizing because of the ingredients....Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Jelly (lurves it) and Kinky Curly Curling Custard. AOMM has a softer hold than KCCC, but both have some great ingredients.

I'm looking forward to other gels being posted too. I'm curious as well.

ETA: There's one more...Qhemet Honeybush Tea Gel...excellent light hold styler, so that makes 3

i find Fantasia IC Olive Styling Gel to be moisturizing (believe it or not) and i like it. i think it's why some folks don't really care for it too much. the "hold" is not a strong one.

no, at least i don't think so. i actually found the clear one gummy - i have a big tube and a can of clear IC that are just sitting there unused.

the green one isn't like that. it's looser and smoother.

forgot to say that i get a great shine or sheen from the green one whereas the clear one seemed to dull my hair out. it could be my hair is just temperamental.

it's only like wha, like $3-4? you should go on and try it out.

ORS Loc & Twist Gel I use it and a scarf on my edges when they get out of control. Works like a charm. Doesn't flake or make my hair ''gel'' hard, and a little goes a long way.

It has some good ingredients too. Water, coconut milk and soybean oil are the first three ingredients, and it doesn't have any drying alcohols in it.

now see, i have a can of this too and had great hopes (that coconut milk had me 'ing).

but it didn't work well for me, it went sticky and made my hair dry hard, dull and coated.

but the price was right and you never know what might work or what won't.

Ditto to all the above, or you can make your own gel, buy some Lily of the earth aloe vera gel (don't get the jumbo size, b/c its really watery, try the 32 or 16 oz) get a container, mix about 1-2 cups aloe with your favorite carrier and essential oil, with a little glyceirne, mix and viola, you have a moisturizing gel

I agree with Lynnie. I use the Sparkle Lite or whatever it is called - with the white top. I also find Aloe Vera Gel to be moisturizing as well.

They all hold well for me as long as I tie my hair with a scarf to "set" it.

S curl texturizing gel. I use it when I am doing braidouts. I put my leavein on and then the gel ontop of it, go to sleep, wake up take my hair down and my hair feels super soft and moisturized. I dont know how it does it but it works like a charm EVERYTIME. Cant stop touching m hair beleive it or not. Its the best thing that has moisturized my hair to date.

ETA: I know its not the leave-in because I have used the leave-in by itself for my braidouts and the effects are no where near the same.

i 2nd this...this was the only thing that helped moisturise my hair and i couldnt stop touching it! it works everytime.....Good thread Long...i was actually going to start a similar thread but was going to ask if there was any downfall to using moisturising gels as ur sole moisturiser on natural 4 hair?

ETA: my only issue is the stickiness...i tried not to apply heavy but it still had that sticky factor when i touched my hair

I looooove ORS Lock & Twist Gel, this is my new favorite product! I even bought a 2nd tub after I started using it, I love it that much. Great ingriedients too.

Jojoba Oil Gel is the most moisturizing gel I have used in my 5 years as a natural, I just discovered it! It is my Holy Grail right now, and it's very inexpensive to make, a little goes a long way .

IC Fantasia sparkelites gel for color treated hair. You don't need colored hair to use it, it's just more moisturizing than the original.

Lynnieb, I have half a jar of that blue one that you could have it postage wasn't more than the darn gel. Check the BSS. That's where I found it.

yea i'll make it a point to look in more stores. i was very surprised to be able to find the green one, it was only in one store and i haven't seen it since .

i should call go through the yellowpages and call around to save gas but these folks probably won't be able to understand my question anyway (no offense intended) .

OMG! LynnieB. How could I have been mislead for so long???

This Olive Fantasia is PERFECT for me....gives exactly the kind of hold I like. If this gel can hold up all day in humid conditions and I can use it consistently until I finish the jar, my last order of AOMM will be just that...my last order.

All of this time I've been thinking I wouldn't like this one just because I don't like the blue or clear ones as all over stylers, I was so wrong.

well you might like this green one, it's not sticky at all to me but like i said it's not a super strong hold. i've used it on wet and damp hair for twists and twist outs and for puffs, it gives some control, shine and enhances definition on the end coils without alot of dryness.

I've only used it once and I cowashed and did a wash n go last night. Today, I revived my hair with NextImage Curl & Wavy spray (this is just how I test stylers because it's how I style most days) and it revived easily and it's still looking good after diffusing. I've just got to use this on a very humid day to know if it's truly a winner for me, but at least, I know it works in a pinch and it's NOT a hard holding gel dries very light (I diffuse) and feels like you don't have a gel in your hair at all.

I use gel when I want to smooth my edges (like in my avatar pic)...stick a scarf on to set it..usually overnight or for a couple of hours. Also, when I do flat twists. I did this when I was relaxed also.

This morning I used the Rasta Mango & Lime Twist gel to slick my hair back for a pony..it also has good ingredients with water being the first. It doesn't go on sticky and can be used for twists etc. It was $3.99 at the BSS..it is very light..
